  1. Does this possibly mean "A Football Life" special on Mean Joe? If that's the case. Count me in!!!
  2. He makes a very good point that we all know. As many questions as our QB spot has, having arguably one of the best lines in the nation will do us just fine in developing and improving on offense. I think we can match last season's record if not improve on it. As long as the defense can at least somewhat match the production of last year. Pass defense will be a plus now we just need the front seven to go with it
  3. 2 Star Defensive End/Tight End from Canton, TX http://www.hudl.com/athlete/601571/sam-miller Welcome to the Mean Green Family Sam! Looks like a good pickup
  4. Appreciate it. I'm from West Texas, so I'm like you. I was spoiled with intensely crazy football crowds every week. Football is a way of life out there. I just wish that we could have our own identity as a crowd. I want other fans and players to say at the end of every home game "good Lord those Mean Green fans are insane. How could they be so loud" but alas, it starts with getting butts in seats and thats hard even with free student admission. I'll continue to be hoarse after every game but I wish I could say the same for everyone else
  5. Okay, so I've been wondering this ever since I started attending UNT games. Other than the whole North Texas chant back and forth I've noticed a general lack of noise from the home crowd, especially when we're on defense. I'm going to go ahead and compare to A&M considering its the only other real college football experience I've been to. The literally all yell before the ref even spots the ball. Yes I know A&M is a P5 school with a stadium that holds 100k so it's hard to compare. But why not with 25-30k in our stands, make the concrete shake? I've yet to really see anything close to that other than the Rice game. I'm not complaining by any means, but it's kinda disheartening when I, as a student in the student section am the only one screaming, while the other students look at me like I'm half retarded. I realize we're not even remotely close to the season starting but I've had this on my mind for a while, and am fairly passionate about school spirit, if you couldn't tell. Anybody else feel the same?
  6. Either he steps up and takes the reigns or someone else will. I would give him the benefit of the doubt based on his experience. But its like MeanGreenD said, they're all gonna work hard and the best player will get the job
  7. I had a class this past semester with McNulty and he seemed like a solid guy. I'm honestly rooting for him to do well and thought he looked the best in the spring game. People forget that he's actually a pretty good scrambler too. Had like 1500 yards rushing his senior year. Greer looks like your prototypical pocket passer and played well too. I think ultimately it comes between those two this year with Dajon and Means still developing. I have a bad feeling Dajon might be another Berglund. Lots of hype and talent, but doesn't translate to the field
  8. I feel somewhere in the mid 60's would be fair. If we broke the top 50 I would be happy and mildly surprised
  9. From what I can tell they have a solid rushing attack and a good amount of starters returning on a defense that was really good down the stretch. Plus their quarterback is known as a dual threat guy. They finished the season off strong to have some momentum going into this season so I would be concerned about our front seven being able to contain a dual threat type guy. Along with our offense's ability to out some points up. But with so many questions at quarterback I don't know how well we'll be able to score. Again, it's a long ways away, but I see them as a potential sleeper in the east that could give us trouble
  10. In order to to win the west we'll have to go through UTSA and Rice. Unfortunately they're both away games for us. I feel like if we can go 1-1 against those two we have a solid shot at winning the west. Obviously a 2-0 would be optimal, but with our schedule another 8-4 record isn't out of the question. I see losses against TU, Indiana, Rice, UTSA, FAU, and SMU being all plausible. Although I fully expect us to beat the bronies at home. So for me 7-5 would almost be underachieving. But we lost a lot of talent on both sides of the ball so we'll see.
  11. Agreed. Having the DB's sit back 10 yards the entire game and letting them thow screens and other short passes. Drove down the field way to much and took way too much time. I honestly blame the loss more on the defense in the UTSA game
  12. I definitely would like to see a Green top/Black Pants combo for home games and as far as helmets go, a Black w/green SOW for home games and white w/green SOW for away games.
  13. I'm just hoping Dajon will put on some weight. He doesn't look like he could absorb hits as well as Thompson. If he sees any extended playing time this season he may not last long without adding 10-15 pounds
  14. He better be. He's got some big shoes to fill replacing Bellazin/Sarge on a full time basis
  15. Current student here. Just to throw in my two cents. I hope they use black in the uniforms more this year if there are new ones. I really feel like a lot of my fellow friends/students like the way the black looks with the green. It just pops more than the white. I'm not expecting Oregon type unis but a little more variety would be great
