Official WKU Game Score Prediction Thread
MGNation92 replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
WKU - 84 UNT - 82 In a shootout to end all shootouts. 2000 yards of total offense. Benford takes notes on how to score more than 60 in a game. Still fails miserably -

Who Should Be The Next Head Coach @UNT
MGNation92 replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
What about Dan Hawkins? He preceded Chris Petersen at Boise St. and helped put them on the map in the early 2000's. He eventually left and Petersen took over, starting their dominance in the Mid-major world. Hawkins is only 54 and was really successful at Boise st. He wasn't nearly as good at Colorado, but has posted a 112-61-1 record as a head coach. -

Coach Canales 1st UNT Press Conference (Periscope)
MGNation92 replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
The TD pass to Marcus Smith was an RPO commonly referred to as "Pop". The defense played the run and all shifted left, opening up the seam down the right side -
Coach Canales 1st UNT Press Conference (Periscope)
MGNation92 replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
It's a post snap read. Usually a linebacker/D-end/safety. The ball is snapped, if the player being read crashes the QB will pull it and throw. If they hang back, he'll hand the ball off. -
Coach Canales 1st UNT Press Conference (Periscope)
MGNation92 replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
I think Chico is much more aware of what the players and fans want. Mac's stubbornness and super-conservative 1970's play style cost him his job. He never took chances, always played it safe. The fans know the potential for North Texas and I think he does too. He knows he has to take some chances. Will it backfire? Maybe. But did Boise St. become a G5 powerhouse playing it safe against Oklahoma? No they did not. We need to do the same. As the great Wayne Gretzky once said: "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" and the only shots Mac has been taking are of the Grey Goose variety -
Admittedly, I've been one of the few that I can recall actually liking Chico, but having listened to this press conference I like him even more. I think the players will rally around him. He seems motivated with a no bullshit kind of attitude towards this thing. I'm personally pulling for him. If I were a player and listened to the way he handled the press conference, I would personally bust my ass on every play for that guy. Just some thoughts. I'll probably get -1'd to hell, but oh well.

Highlights from McCarney's Final Game at NT
MGNation92 replied to UNT 90 Grad's topic in Mean Green Football
I think Smith's touchdown throw demonstrates his ability to buy time in the pocket. Most people considered him a dual threat coming in. For all accounts and purposes he is not. Everything I saw from his Butler JUCO tape was him using his feet to buy time while looking downfield. He was never gonna sprint away for a 70 yard touchdown. He's a thrower first and I like that. Under pressure he moves to find the open guy, which is what we need. -
MGB: Sounds like Smith is going to get his shot
MGNation92 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Hell if I were Chico, I'd have Smith throw the ball 60 times on Thursday. We know what we have in the running backs and WKU is probably gonna hang 60 on us. Why not sling it from the gun(AKA what Smith is best at) and see what happens? Maybe he throws 5 picks and is abysmal. Maybe we pull the upset behind his arm. Never know until you try. -

UNT opens as underdog to FCS Portland State

This was an Alumni event or what? I seriously think the alcohol has caused some mental/emotional damage. If anything he needs to leave for his health. But mainly because he sucks ass as a head coach -
What if we win against Portland State
MGNation92 replied to EagleGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
The only thing that will happen if we win against Portland St. is the continuation of accepting mediocre coaching, mediocre qb play, mediocre defensive play, and a less than mediocre athletic director. I would never hope for a loss, but if we win this, there is no hope of any change, and definitely no hope for a better season next year. I feel like only a loss at homecoming by an fcs school will force the president's hand, and potentially lead to a regime change. -
MAYBE HE'LL WRITE THEM IN ALL CAPS TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE HE'S EXTRA ANGRY.

With how fast our offense goes 3 and out with our new "uptempo" offense, I wouldn't be surprised if they put up 60 on us. -
MGB: McCarney says there is no such thing as a "gamer"
MGNation92 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Arm strength isn't everything. Jay Cutler has a stronger arm than Tom Brady, but I would take Brady 10/10 times. Not to say Mcnuggets is anywhere remotely close to that, but arm strength with shitty decision making is still shitty decision making -
"Ah yes I remember that time. Back when men were men, Iowa was Florida, and they are a really good football team"
-
"Thats a great question, thanks for asking CBL. It really comes down to my days in Iowa, when you didn't need a quarterback to win a national championship at Florida. Andrew McNulty gives us the best Iowa but I could see where Florida, national championship, Iowa in the Florida."

He didn't say. I'm assuming it would be limited to a couple per person.

Just as a thought for everyone to think about, and possibly have questions for next time. Hank came up to me at the coaches show tonight and said that if anyone had questions they could pick up the mike and ask, as long as the questions "showed some tact". So I would suggest, for those willing come up with some questions, to show up and ask them because even though it's clearly not advertised, it is open mike. Or you could pull a Ben Gooding and just get up and punch the entire panel in the face mid sentence. Your call
