I'm just saying he was the OC there for several years with Mahomes. I can't imagine he had zero input in his development or progression as a player. He knows what a good QB looks like. I'm not gonna guarantee anything but there's a good chance he finds our next Mason Fine.

Patrick Mahomes seems alright but what do I know

A lot of them also noted that they didn’t really have a deep threat and a pretty bad O-Line so the adjustment had to be made. We already have solid receivers and O-Line as is, but I’m sure we’ll recruit the positions well under Morris. This offense is gonna look a lot closer to Harrells than it is Bloesch or Reeder and I think most of us look at that as a good thing.

He was a DC under his dad at WTAMU, and they ran a wide open offense during his time there

And Carthel as DC

Fuente or one of the TCU coordinators. -
If Mosley is reading this board, I’ll take: Saban as HC Lincoln Riley as OC Gary Patterson as DC

I'm sure Mosley is intently listening to the guy with a flying worm dick as his profile picture- 241 replies

I'd be fine with Perry if he brought Emmett Jones with him. DFW high school recruiting would be be very solid Otherwise holy shit is that underwhelming. -

Not Carthel? I've been told by multiple people he's Nick Saban 2.0. Surely a massive oversight by the AD 🙄- 241 replies

https://www.acefootballanalytics.com/post/k-c-keeler-the-best-football-coach-you-never-heard-of Reading more about him and becoming more interested. Not afraid to make changes when things aren't working, is lauded as a great recruiter and took advantage of transfers from FBS to FCS to get quality players. He still seems motivated at 63. He inherited a strong Sam Houston program from Fritz but continued the success. Two FCS national championships. It would be a risk, but he was preparing for the jump to FBS anyways. The roster is in decent shape as it is and he's been in Texas long enough to build some good relationships. I wouldn't hate the move. He's a proven winner at the FCS level, just wonder how it would translate to the American. Fritz has worked well for Tulane (although it took him a while to get there). We could see similar results with Keeler

Monday Morning: Who would you rather?

I'm leaning Riley at this point. Biggest upside and risk IMO, but his experience under Sonny and his ability to find/coach QB's is very appealing -

So we've got guys that have seen success as Head Coaches in Keeler and Fuente. Keeler is older but very successful at Sam Houston and as I understand it runs a wide open offense. He's only 5-4 this year though so curious as to what happened. He has two FCS national championships Both coordinators from a very successful TCU this year. Curious what kind of offense Gillespie would run, he's used to being on teams that are spread oriented. Kenny Perry is the high school guy that seems more and more popular with Traylor and McGuire finding success. Potentially bringing Mattress Mack back into the fold as a big money donor could be significant to financial growth in the program. Honestly all of these candidates feel fairly whelming. I have no idea how to feel about any of them -
This is why I'm not as concerned with getting a pure recruiter like Jones. Yes it's still important, but this team is essentially a turnkey operation for the next guy. A lot of the pieces are in place already (assuming most of the starters stick around) to be successful immediately.
