  1. Looks like this guy is transferring, would be great depth and a dynamic kick returner. From Jenks, which isn't too far from the hometown of our head coach http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31000&ATCLID=210936488
  2. I don't hate Morris, but I don't think he's as good as most people are trying to hype him up to be(conversely Shanbour probably isn't as good as I think he can be). I think O-line will be a massive liability this season, and I would rather have a guy that can scramble than a guy that will get hit but "can take it" People also tend to forget that while DaMarcus was as inconsistent as they come, our offense really opened up when we started using the read option. If we aren't going to use Wilson in the traditional running back role(stupid move if you ask me) at least get a guy in there that has the ability to run so the defense isn't constantly in Dime packages because they know we're never going to run
  3. And most of the pundits are crowning a QB that can't run and escape pressure and makes slow decisions. But he did play at Alabama and is big
  4. I think the 1v1 and 2v2 aspect is a dumb argument. Was Shanbour throwing against the second string defense? yes Was he also playing with the second string offense? yes It's not like he was throwing to Randy Moss and Chris Carter. Give credit where credit is due. The kid can play QB, a lot better than most people are saying
  5. No shit? That's awesome. Are they gonna play at Ratliff?
  6. Bruh. Chill. We get it. You're preaching to the diehard mean green choir. You ever stop to think that when you spout "we don't have fans, the stadium is empty, RV sucks, and we'll never succeed with him as AD", people who visit this site and are interested in investing more in the program and this site turn right around and go back to wearing their tu gear because of all the negativity? You're literally doing the exact thing as the athletic director you are so adamently fighting against
  7. Watch out, the Falcons are gonna make some noise in the Lone Star conference. Sadly I don't think the UTPB crowds will ever be bigger than the Permian crowds, then again that's the nature of the beast in West Texas
  8. Since I like to actually talk football and feel like our pass protection will be an area of concern I found this link(along with several others) on the air raid pass protection schemes: http://www.cougcenter.com/2013/3/28/4093000/air-raid-playbook-pass-protection-schemes I think the inherent problem will be the athleticism needed for the O-line in an air raid and our lack thereof, how do you think Littrell and staff will solve this? Do you think we'll be hampered offensively by our O-line? Will the news guys come in and make an immediate impact? Will we use more quick screens than wanted due to bad O-line play? Will Morris survive the whole season? What do you think?
  9. But did you know we need to fire Rick Villarreal?
  10. Does anybody with insider info know if Littrell is looking at new uniforms?
  11. Agreed. See what UCF did today? I wish we were this competent.(reminder: UCF went 0-12 last season) http://ucfastuniforms.com/
  12. Maybe he lost the ability to throw 50 yard bombs, slip screens, WR screens and dump offs when he got to UNT.
  13. http://newsok.com/article/3746677 Looks like a few schools running the spread wanted him as a QB. He wasn't recruited by North Texas, but he was recruited by spread teams
  14. Looks like Vito isn't the only one riding the Alec Morris hype train. "Shanbour is a nice story but lol, Alec Morris is bigger" Quick release is just that, if you want to see the opposite of a quick release look at Tim Tebow's throwing motion. Morris is a slow pocket passer that was recruited to manage the game and hand off to Heisman winning running backs. Shanbour was recruited to run the spread. Morris looks slower in making decisions, slower in throwing the ball, and slower running the ball. In an offense predicated on speed, slow is not what you want
  15. Ekeler has been a hoss on the recruiting trail. Impressed with how much he's been travelling and doing for this team. Not only does he seem like a hell of a D-Coordinator, he could be one of our biggest assets in recruiting
  16. I think he means Marcus Smith, the tight end that wore number #18 last season.
  17. I understand competition breeds excellence but after watching his tape I would say I like Fine better overall. But who knows, he might turn into our own Graham Harrell. Rooting for the kid regardless!
  18. No problem. if you click the little ... on the tweet and use "Copy Link to tweet" it'll show up better in the forums
  19. 2016 Recruit
  20. Not to mention openly seeing Ekeler and other coaches on Twitter for visits. Perry was the only one on Mac's staff that was worth a damn in recruiting(on top of being a pretty good coach) and Littrell smartly retained him. The only places that can afford Geriatric coaches are the ones that have a massive name on the national scale. Otherwise recruiting is a bloodbath and you have to be competitive or lie down and die. Mac and his staff chose to do the latter
  21. The beauty of a 3-3-5 is the ability to blitz from every position. Ekeler seems to be very aggressive in schemes along with Reffett who was very successful at ULM. With the experience our safeties have in stopping run I would imagine McClain/Gray will be used prominently in blitz schemes along with the rover spot. It will mask the depth issues on the DL while allowing to stop most conference teams' offenses. Look at the schedule SMU, Southern Miss, LaTech, Marshall, WKU, MUTS, UTSA all run some version of the spread. There's a reason we're running a 3-3-5 and it's not just players or lack thereof There's a reason you don't see a whole of of Buddy Ryan's 46 Defense in the Big-12 This is a good article on the 2-4-5/3-3-5: http://www.footballstudyhall.com/2015/5/1/8528407/modern-defense-and-the-2-4-5-vs-the-3-3-5
  22. You probably would know better than me, but I'm assuming he was moved because he's a zone corner and the new defensive philosophy will play a lot more man on the outside, has good hands and football smarts. Solid short area quickness as well. Makes sense to me. How do the players like the new staff? Hope to see your brother play more on defense in the fall. He looked good in the spring game
  23. Boom. But in all seriousness, being a recent graduate(2015) puts me at a crossroads when it comes to UNT athletics. I am heavily invested in football, and slowly coming around to the other sports as well(really looking forward to see what Jalie can do), but the incredible ineptitude displayed by the athletic department is very disheartening. Thankfully, my degree at UNT has given me the opportunity to get a decent job right of school and as such I am able to donate a little bit of money towards my school. I am a part of the alumni association, however I do not donate to the mean green club or buy season tickets for the fear that I may be sucked into a perpetual funk of self-loathing and angrily shaking my fist at a walrus in a sweater vest. For that very reason I will support the school that I love, but I will do it from a safe distance(general admission) as I feel the only way to garner any change at the top is through the wallet, or lack thereof. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not. For now I'll keep a comfortable distance while still supporting the school
  24. Unfortunately no. they did post a wrap up video on Youtube though
  25. HATE SPEECH. WHERE'S MY SAFE SPACE
