MGB: Christopher Thornton talks about blue shirting at UNT
MGNation92 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Gray Shirt - Arrive to campus a semester early(Spring of senior year) allowing workouts and spring practice. Eligibility doesn't start until the fall of that year (See Ozougwu or Pearson) Blue Shirt - PWO until first day of class, then they are put on scholarship. Eligibility starts immediately, but the scholarship counts towards next year's total -
Anyone else concerned by the amount of Blueshirts?
MGNation92 replied to GMG24's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I think that's the key here. Blueshirting them now while also redshirting them for the first season means they are on the roster, lifting weights, practicing with the team making them much more capable and ready come their RS Freshman season. Allows them to contribute immediately in their class -

After the latest OL commit I'm really hoping we land this kid, would round out a great crop of skill players for this class Could be a huge weapon used all over the field! -
'17 OL Brian Parish (Arlington Seguin) [LOI: NT]
MGNation92 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
what is this, the 5th OL committed in this class? You think they were looking for help? lol -
Ozougwu was not a blue shirt. Much like Cade Pearson, he graduated early and was at UNT in the spring of his Senior year of high school. He was/is a gray shirt. Grey shirting essentially gives them an extra spring/summer before starting their official 5 to play 4 clock

Can confirm this. Having played for and graduating from Midland Lee, most of the really good athletes were recruited to Midland Christian because they knew it was their best shot at getting a state championship. -

A lot of times 247 will list those schools if the kid had an unofficial visit or if they attended a camp for that school. Doesn't necessarily mean an offer -

Absolutely Midland/Odessa, Abilene should all be combed over. There's usually plenty of talented kids coming out of those schools -

I was hoping they would go for another DE We are extremely thin at that position. Our entire front 7 was decimated from graduating seniors -
http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/011717aaa.html Looks like Pearson will compete in spring practice. Will be huge to have a 3 way QB competition Also says Jalen Is 3-for-3 and Jevin is 3-for-2

Most Improved Offense and Defense Scoring list
MGNation92 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Have to think the scoring offense will improve even more so for the 2017 season Littrell's second season is where his offense usually starts to really pick up. Just gotta hope that GH improves his play calling, and/or that the personnel allows for more diverse play calling -

Scott Booker would be huge for the ST job. He's the number 20 recruiter in the nation -

You mean as a grayshirt? That would be amazing. Going into a full spring with three competent QB's competing? Should be fun to watch -

Hopefully this means Nitardy is gone. He's about as useful as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest -
