Really our entire defense seems to have problems with man outside Hall/Jenkins. I think Ekeler made them play a lot more zone last year, and they got burned a lot less than this year. Reffett is almost too aggressive it seems.

Actually yes. When you're slanting and stunting every down and you don't have quicker linemen, you're gonna get exposed. We may be lighter, but we've been playing run much better this year than last.

Well said. SMU out recruited us, and beat us. Based on recruiting we should beat ODU, UTEP, Rice, Army this year. Everyone else blew us out of the water in the rankings, so we'll truly see how good this talent evaluation is the rest of the year and especially going forward.

The problem here is that Jenkins had a Pick 6 against Marshall on a similar hitch route last season where he drove hard and inside. Who's to say his instinct won't kick in and he'll drive in and get burned like Brooks? I think playing Cover 1 or 2 the rest of the season would help alleviate this. Playing man across the board is a recipe for disaster if your pass rush can't get there

FWIW Brooks is still listed as the starter opposite Hall on the Depth chart

He's playing mostly special teams but seems to have fit in his new role nicely.
