  1. And you preach about having higher expectations ...
  2. I get where your sarcasm is coming from but there is no way to know whether the incident involving our program last spring would or would not have happened had Benford been let go earlier.
  3. Oops, I was lasered in on Mason. Vizza could have been one of if not the top QB had he stayed all four years.
  4. Are you referring to him getting hurt last season?
  5. Assistant Coach Houston Fancher was appointed as Interim. I'm sure they'll hire a new coach at the conclusion of the season.
  6. Zach Babb I think and another student working for KNTU is what I think I heard.
  7. Ask Charlotte fans who they want fired and you'll get a different answer though.
  8. Charlotte is currently 3-6.
  9. The end on net neutrality could cause even more ripples for streaming options for those cutting the cord to cable.
  10. I was about to post late January. Maybe the week before NSD.
  11. In theory we could play SMU at Frisco because "they don't bring anyone".
  12. I think it would be better to judge how attendance looks next year after the season we had this year. For UTEP and Army (in back-to-back weekends) we did have 26k+ for two games this season. Four of our six home games were above the 20k mark with Lamar being just shy at 19,592 and weather likely being the cause for poor attendance against Old Dominion. Top All-Time Crowds Attend. Opponent Date 1. 29,437 Baylor Sept. 6, 2003 2. 28,315 Baylor Aug. 31, 2000 3. 28,075 Houston* Sept. 10, 2011 4. 26,119 UTEP* Nov. 9, 2013 5. 26,012 Navy Nov. 10, 2007 6. 25,231 SMU Sept. 9, 2006 7. 24,718 SMU* Sept. 3, 2016 8. 23,743 Rice Sept. 11, 2010 9. 23,647 Army Nov. 21, 2009 10. 23,112 Tulsa Sept. 17, 2005 * Games played in Apogee Stadium UTEP - 26,108 Army - 26,392 These two games are good for the 4th and 6th highest attended games in our program's history. We saw an increase of almost 2.5k, which is a pretty nice jump (12.5% increase).
  13. The real question is how much of our regular fan base will travel to go watch this game? 10k? 15k? What makes these neutral site rivalry games work is when both fan bases show up in solid numbers. I wonder if Shreveport would be on board given many NT fans would just make a day trip out of the game.
  14. If Toyota Stadium was the same size as Apogee I wouldn't think this is such a bad idea but why limit attendance to a 20k stadium? It be nice to know what the rental cost is for Toyota Stadium 20.5k seats in Toyota Stadium. The remaining amounts are estimates based on student body size, etc. 7.5k max for student tickets 1.5k visitor max 11.5k season ticket/general admission. Seating assignment based off of MGC priority points. If the rental cost is $50k, that's basically $2.5/seat. Of course that goes up if the rental cost is higher. If the AD decides to forfeit the revenue for the student tickets so that students an attend for "free" (estimated at 7.5k available tickets) the rental cost gets spread to the remaining tickets upping the cost per ticket to $4.00/seat (assuming the $50k rental cost). The AD could choose to use similar prices to what we charge in Apogee and just eat those extra costs or they could add in the extra rental costs to the price of tickets. Something to keep in mind is that there are no endzone seats. That said, there could be basically one ticket price for all sideline seats which might be in the upper $30 to lower $40 range. So if we went with a ticket price of $38 here's how revenue might break down: 20.5k = $779k max revenue @ $38.00/ticket 7.5k "free" student tickets = -$285k 1.5k visitor seats = $57k 11.5k season tickets/general admission = $437k Estimated Rental Cost = -$50k Estimated Contract Cost to Pay to Visiting Team = -$250k Estimated Net Revenue = $194k (but this number could go down even more due to things like security costs, etc). Either way, I don't see how the AD could make as much profit on moving a game to Toyota Stadium given its size without charging more money per ticket. If the series is moved to Shreveport and we still get 6 home games, I am fine with that.
  15. We averaged 22,000 per game this year. Our lowest attended game wasn't even the FCS game (Lamar). What makes anyone think playing one of our home games in a smaller venue a good idea? As I previously pointed out, we won't make as much revenue since we don't control the parking or concessions. We won't have a store front to sell North Texas gear/apparel as well. I wonder what the break even point would be on ticket sales/price.
  16. I want to +1 this so, so bad.
  17. Also, if we're going to play a game inside DFW at a neutral site, it needs to be as a 7 "home" game. We should never trade one of our 6 home games for a local neutral site game.
  18. Spring Game <> regular season game though. Also, I think the NCAA put an end to schools playing scrimmages in the Spring away from their home stadium. The problem I see with playing a game at a neutral site less than 30 minutes away from Apogee are: Toyota Stadium holds 20,500 versus 30,500 at Apogee. We're trading a larger venue for a smaller venue. We'd have to rent the facility from the City of Frisco. We'd be at the whim of their rules for things like tailgating. We won't make as much as the gate due to extra costs/smaller venue (see #1 and #2). We likely won't get any money made from things like parking and concessions. I think with the Rice/Stanford game, the host site of the game, sponsors, or ESPN paid for those two schools to travel to those destinations. Without that, most programs will balk at playing a game at a site that far away from home.
  19. why?
  20. Brett has added some details to his initial article and it sounds like the protest is centered around the Election Board meeting during pre-finals week to certify the results, which is against UNT policies. So, they will meet once school starts back up in (mid) January.
  21. Here is what I could find:
  22. Results will be delayed until mid-January at the earliest.
  23. Right now I have the SMU game for 2022 on the same date as the Cal game: 9/10/2022 – SMU 9/17/2022 – at Memphis I wonder if the SMU game is to be rescheduled to a different date?
  24. Houston fan reaction: This doesn't sound like a solid hire ...
