  1. I still, for the life of me, can't understand why Rice continued to try and run outside so often. I don't think it worked once the entire game.
  2. What's this -7 stuff? The Vegas casinos have it at -25. Am I missing something?
  3. So the line is up to 25. Not sure if there is a way to check historical lines and this sounds like a question for the Elias Sports Bureau. When, if ever, have we been a 25 point favorite? I'm sure some of the teams of the early aughts had big lines, but 25 is a big number!
  4. Agreed. After watching that I wish we could play them again and I still can't get over the Tulane game. We basically gift wrapped it for them. I think we play them now and beat them by 3 TDs. Oh well.
  5. I left that life behind when I was let go by Sporting News Radio. It's a terrible industry. I have too many talented friends that I would watch bounce around all over the country and were extremely paranoid all the time. I didn't want that anymore after I got married. More important to provide for my family. But I did enjoy all of the Tiger debates and cool moments I had in that career.
  6. I don't think Derek Thompson is a HOF, not at all. And I'm a DT supporter. Now for this next statement I need to put on my bullet proof armor because I'm about to get pounded on. I was/am in the camp that Scott Hall isn't a HOF either. It is like my argument about other HOF. It is the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Really Good. For me the HOF should be for guys like Mean Joe, Ron Shanklin, Hayden Fry. Mitch Maher (yes!), Booger, PC, Lance Dunbar and people like that. Hell even JQ. It doesn't take away the accomplishments or contributions of integral members like Scott Hall and DT. But it also doesn't make them HOF. Just my opinion. Now watch as the negative points add up on my reply.
  7. I like the cut of your jib.
  8. This is the best site to find the Vegas casino lines. http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/
  9. Very true. But as mentioned they really need to pick up that win Saturday because they play Purdue. After that it's Michigan and Nebraska. Obviously they could win any of those games, but much more difficult after the Purdue game. I'm still of the camp to win out and get some help to land in the conference title game and eventually the Liberty Bowl. It is still so surreal to me that we are having these sorts of topics. It would be rather interesting to get a snapshot of topics on the first page of the forum from 11/05/08 to 11/05/13. It isn't a dream!! Go Mean Green!
  10. Iowa is at 5-4 with a win over an FCS school. Does that count towards their win total? I seem to remember you can count one win against an FCS team. Well this weekend they have Purdue. They really need that game because after that they have Michigan and Nebraska.
  11. Sorry if posted before. Stewart Mandel is projecting North Texas in the Heart of Dallas Bowl against Texas St!!!!! He is stating they would be a replacement for the Big 10 not having enough eligible teams. For the love of everything that is good and decent, PLEASE don't let this happen. Not sure what you guys think, but that would just be terrible. Yes it improves our chances of winning, but I want to see North Texas play a school from a BCS conference. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20131104/college-football-bowl-projections/?sct=cf_t1t_a1
  12. I liked these unis until I read this post. I didn't realize that was part of flag etiquette. Thanks for the info.
  13. Totally agree and I don't want to think about that because I'm enjoying the ride right now. But we lose so many pivotal seniors, especially on defense.
  14. I know we haven't seen him do anything at NT yet, but doesn't he seem to just carry himself so well and act like a leader? I have a fondness for DT and what he has done, but I really love BB's attitude. He seems like a a mini Coach Mac. I can't stop envisioning that Rivals rankings that had him in between Johnny Football and a QB that played for a national title this season. I know it means nothing, but still really cool. I hope he brings some similar magic to Denton.
  15. I can't believe I was so unimpressed with the hiring of Mac. Not that it matters, but I owe Coach Mac an apology!! Regardless of how his tenure at NT finishes up, he was the absolute perfect choice at the time.
  16. Is this the best choice of words by Eric Capper? “It was a no-brainer, he’s a natural fit,” said Eric Capper, senior assistant athletic director.
  17. I definitely agree with this. And I'm happy that our front 7 should allow them to get up to speed without too much exposure. I think those guys will be fine granted Jackson can improve his positioning. Too many times he seemed out of position.
  18. I wonder if the ESPN3 feed will be the MG Premium feed? Does anyone know? Anyone with a slingbox in Dallas willing to let me log in on Saturday to stream the TXA21 feed? I promise not to change the channel to adult programming!!
  19. I don't see how anyone can disagree that Saturday was encouraging. I know Mac mentioned being disappointed and he should. He is the coach, he has to have that attitude. But as fans that watch this program it was very encouraging. 1. 2nd and 3rd quarter score was 13-7 LSU and through mid of the 4th quarter it was 20-14. The start killed us, but I'm sure nerves played a big part. Once our guys settled down they played well. Young kids in front of 90,000 and the toughest place to play. I get why they were jittery to start. 2. O-Line was outstanding!!! So impressed with how good they looked. Very well done. 3. Defense got consistent pressure and made plays in the LSU backfield. 4. Brelan RAN AWAY from SEC speed. Watch it again! 5. Thompson looked poised and made some nice throws 6. We have a solid front 7 which should help an inexperienced secondary. 7. Running Back U will continue. Jimmerson's got something!! I really liked they way that kid ran the ball. I thought Aztec said it well in his recap video. We were beat by bigger. stronger athletes that compete for national championships. It is that simple. We have to be realistic in games like this and I think this is BY FAR the best we have looked in a money game. I know it seems kind of spare to discuss the positives of a program that just lost 41-14. However, it is where we are. Doesn't mean we will always be there, but for now I had a positive attitude Saturday night about the direction of the program. Patrick
  20. I still can't get over that OBVIOUS hold on LSU's first TD. When watching it live I thought, "well that play is coming back." Then I waited, and waited and waited and NOTHING. I couldn't believe it.
  21. I heard Hank mention on the broadcast Sunday that the LSU game is on Channel 21 locally. Anyone know if that broadcast will be elsewhere? I don't want to watch on the MGS website. That video is terrible. Thanks in advance. Patrick
  22. I draw the line at shots taken towards DePaul. My wife is a grad of that wonderful university where the degree means so much more than NT. DePaul is a Tier 1 university and on par with any Ivy League school or Oxford. People from NT could only dream of ever setting foot on the campus let alone attending or watching a sporting event of that most prestigious institution of higher learning! Of course I am mocking the tone of that ridiculous thread on the SMU forum. Although my wife did graduate from DePaul and we were married at the Church on campus. Patrick
  23. Wow. Thanks for site!! I loved going back to the 96-97 and seeing names like Pooh Davis, Chuck Thrash and TJ Atkins. I also remember thinking Sean Riley was going to be so dominant until I saw him on the court. Thanks for the trip to my early years at NT!!

  25. Points #1 and #2 by Tasty are spot on. Very frustrating last night. You can see this team has talent, they just need to grow. Obviously Chris Jones is ahead of the game. Just so calm as a Frosh. Jordin has so much talent and athleticism, but his immaturity gets in his way. Every time he did something rookie and JJ pulled him out he would spend a lot of time talking to him. Once he figures it out that kid will be good! I think it will come together and the addition of TM will only make it better. Good finally meeting some of you guys last night! Patrick
