  1. Thanks for the breakdown. UTSA without their top back and UNT without arguably their most effective back. Then it comes to depth and NT definitely has the edge there with BB and the Jimmy Show. I also like the fact their top back at this moment is a big guy without much top end speed. Rice has a big, strong back with some speed. Should we revisit how that went for them?
  2. 100% agree. I think there is a bit of Mean Green glasses here. I LOVE Orr, but he is undersized. Guys like Orr that are super-productive at LB in college at his size transition to Safety in the NFL. Not sure he has the speed to play that position. This takes absolutely nothing away from Orr. I would love our team to have 22 guys like Zach Orr, but it is reality. And as for being drafted in the 3rd or 5th round. C'mon. 3rd round teams are still looking for starters. 4th/5th you plan on playing a lot. He would need to develop. That being said I would love to be wrong here.
  3. DO NOT rely on cabs at the time. You need to have something pre-booked. Last game I attended was opening game at Apogee, I know disgusting. Prior to the game at like 1pm we had to wait 1 hour for a cab to take us to the stadium. Then after the game we closed down Riprock's and called for a cab and they basically laughed at us like no chance. We saw a lady coming out of the bar screaming at a young kid. It was her 19 year-old son who sneaked into the bar and she was dragging him out all upset. She had a Ford Explorer and we asked her for a ride. Let's just say we could tell by her appearance it was an easy bet she would accept our $20 offering. Like 10 of us piled into the Explorer with her, her son and her 15 year-old daughter. The son was drunk and she was screaming at him the entire way to our hotel and all he did was laugh. We probably almost died at least 4 times. It was awesome, hilarious and depressing all at the same time. Moral of the story.....kids, don't do drugs!
  4. I think I read that he had offers from Ohio, Iowa State and Purdue. Nice to see we beat some BCS conference schools.
  5. Ask Shaq, Kobe, Tim Duncan and Pete Sampras about how easy it is to "play through" PF. As well as many more high-level athletes and not a guy who runs.
  6. So.....back to the video. When it started I thought, "yes a Lonely Island type video!" I will say since I love just about everything Lonely Island has done I wrongly had the same instant expectation for the video. That is unfair to the people that made this video. Those guys are professional comedians that have made millions and been on SNL and in movies. That being said I did have these takeaways: 1. Production value is fantastic. As good as anything Lonely Island has done visually. 2. LOVE the school spirit. When I was at NT in the early 90's you would see more UT/A&M/OU shirts than NT shirts. I even had a friend once ask me, "who is your favorite college team?" I replied, "North Texas." He laughed and said, "no, seriously?" We were no longer friends. 3. That girl can SING! The lyrics themselves left a bit to be desired, but still awesome effort and love seeing our students take shots at the other schools.
  7. The line has now mostly moved to 9 and even one 9.5. That means the betting public also likes NT.
  8. Actually amazed at how close the two teams are statistically. We really need a big game from DT. Accuracy and no bone-headed picks and we will be fine. To me that will be key. Sustained drives and DT throwing the ball like he did the first half of the year. Expect Brelan to set us up with good field position at least once if not more and for us to take advantage. And our front four is really coming along nicely in regards to pressure. It will be a tough game for sure, but just do what we have been doing and we'll be fine.
  9. Can someone, ANYONE, please tell me for the love all that is good and holy how ULALA is ranked #40??!! Please educate me!!!
  10. There is no question that closely behind the added money and exposure the extra practice is massive for this team. I was thinking about how good that will be since we are losing so many seniors for the younger kids a lot of extra reps. It is huge!!
  11. I always wanted to be in radio from the time I was like 12. Senior year in HS I did a lot of research on the best schools for that career. Missouri, USC and North Texas were always at the top of the list. USC is primarily a film school so that was out and at the time Missouri had a great broadcasting school, but NT was right there. Then you factor in-state tuition for my parent's and close to home and it was a no-brainer.
  12. Is it so unbelievably amazing to me how far this program has come in such a short amount of time that we have recruits making the following comments. “They are competing for championships,” Adams said. “That is what I want to be a part of. There were NFL scouts there at the game. North Texas is going to help me become a high-caliber player.” Welcome aboard Jalen you are joining something that is going to be special!
  13. It is no contest. Ball State all the way. If I don't have a dog in the fight, sure, give me NIU. But Ball State beating NIU is huge for us especially considering our SOS started to take a dump last weekend and will continue the next two weeks.
  14. Whatever the coaches decide to do with the QB situation, PLEASE, for the love of everything that is good and decent, DO NOT ROTATE QBS!!! Please have one win the job and go with him. I could be wrong, but it seems like this board has anointed Dajon as the starter next year. What about Brock? Is he just completely out of the picture? And are we completely writing off Andrew? I for one want to see what Brock can do. I still remember going crazy over that rivals ranking of Dual Threat QBs with Brock being sandwiched between Evert Golson and Johnny Football. I know, I know it is just a ranking, but has he been given a shot with his injuries? Of course in Mac I trust so I know he'll make the right call.
  15. I don't doubt this at all from your team. I truly think this will be a tough game in general. I do like Mac's ability to keep his team focused and ready to play. I think that is a difference maker. And even though this team is at 7 wins most all of these guys haven't sniffed any kind of winning during their tenure. There is no chance they get complacent or take anyone lightly. UTSA will be hit like that haven't been hit all season.
  16. All this can be done. We just need RV to pony up the money to bring them out.
  17. Yes we all wish he was a bigger NT homer but he is still integral to probably the best sports talk show ever. And we still have George. The Junes is awesome.
  18. I'm in California and the game is blacked out on Comcast California. I called Directv and they said the organizer of the game has blacked out the game in parts of California including the LA area. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And why is there no stream on Mean Green All Access????? I'm soooo pissed.
  19. This is a reason to get directv. In addition to the NFL Sunday ticket with the sports pack you get basically every regional sports network and of course the game today.
  20. Watching the highlight tape I had a few thoughts come to mind. 1. He threw the ball into some really TIGHT spots. If he tries that at the collegiate level could be a much different result. 2. I don't think that service did him any favors with the highlights. He hit wide open receivers in the flat. Ok. 3. I was impressed with some of the RAC of his receivers. Looked pretty elusive. I don't want to take anything away from the kid as he had gaudy numbers and was the PA player of the year. But that highlight video didn't really look that impressive. I'm sure he is intelligent being the son of Lefty and of course has a fair amount of talent. I hope we clamp down on that offense early.
  21. There is no way the given Christian name of the Marshall coach is Doc Holliday. It has to be some dumb bit.
  22. After the the thread about this defense being better than the 02 defense I was interested to see where they stand nationally this season. Some pretty impressive numbers here. Only one category is troubling. Two other stats not on here. Fumbles Recovered we are 1st and Passes intercepted tied for 12th. Stat Rank Value Total Defense 40 376.4 Rushing Defense 22 126.6 Passing Yards Allowed 91 249.9 Team Passing Efficiency Defense 68 126.88 Scoring Defense T-20 19.9 Turnover Margin T-8 1.0 3rd Down Conversion Pct Defense 30 0.347 4th Down Conversion Pct Defense 2 0.111 Red Zone Defense 2 0.571 First Downs Defense 34 159
  23. WOW!!! How could I forget Craig Jones? I am embarrassed. After reading some more posts, yeah, I'm starting to think it isn't that close. That '02 defense was amazing.
  24. It is a tough call because at first I thought no way this D is as good as those. But then I started going through it. Trice is probably as good if not better than Buckles. Laramie Lee is better than whomever was the SS. The corners on the early aughts teams were definitely better. The LB might be a push as Orr, Wright and Akunne are probably real close to Kassel and CO. The D-Line isn't even close though. Booger's line were simply amazing. You couldn't contain him. And MeanGreenTexas hit the nail on the head. That game against UT where I think they sacked Chris Simms like 6 times. Mack after the game was raving about Booger and that defense. We still lost like 28-0 or something.
  25. The final numbers for his senior year were 177-of-268 passes for 3,331 yards with the 45-4 touchdown-interception ratio, and he rushed for 553 yards on 138 carries with 10 rushing touchdowns. Pretty salty numbers. And he was the PA POY.
