Jeff Wilson, He’s Pretty Good
SouthBendGreen replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I thought long and hard before making my post because i do agree with that. Jamario's single season was the best ever, but as great as it was he wasn't the best player we've had at RB, IMO. -
Fantastic point. Lesser of two evils. I hope reffet and company can devise a scheme to hide the deficiencies. I also agree with the comments about guys that played really well last year not playing st those levels. But if we keep allowing 50% or more conversions on 3rd we will struggle to win many more games. And just think of our offense gets slowed down then we really have no shot.

Jeff Wilson, He’s Pretty Good

Ready for an HSO. He's the best RB we've had since the start of our great RB's starting with galbreath maybe. No offense to PC who next to Mitch Maher is my favorite player ever. Or even Lance. When he's healthy he's just on a different level. His vision, acceleration and big play potential are off the charts. The ONLY reason NFL teams shy away would injury concerns. But there is no denying his talent to play at the next leve. -
Lol. You said in 5 words what took me sentences! But again we need to stop blitzing on 3rd down. Our inability to get off the field on 3rd will ultimately sink us.
-
I thought I would log on today and see thread after thread bashing the defense and especially the secondary. Our run defense is stout but we can't get off the field to save our lives on 3rd and mostly because of the secondary. What we thought would be the strength is clearly the liability. Plus we blitz a lot on 3rd down further exposing us. I'm sure the thought was our secondary is so strong we can leave them on an a island and pin our ears back and blitz but it's not working.

I couldn't agree more with all of these comments. His progression in one offseason is tremendous. He's like a new QB. His accuracy has basically been off the charts and like someone mentioned him hitting guys in stride. Credit to him and credit to the coaching. I'm also really liking his weapons. Kelvin smith if he keeps progressing could play in Sunday's. Two big concerns. 1. Keeping him upright and protected. I fear if the moment he gets the snap he has to start looking where the pressure is coming from and can't get comfortable to make his reads. 2. SLIDE!! Love the toughness and mason for the love of everything good and holy slide! Not sure if I'm the only one but every time he and Jeffrey get hit I tense up hoping to see them bounce back up. And last thing with anyone questioning his ability to make all plays just have at the ready his scramble then back across the body dart to Lawrence for a TD. Thing of beauty.

Also on a side note how does SMU not throw the ball to Sutton on basically every play?? If I were a SMU fan, God help me, I would be pissed.
-
He is issue #104 at best. The comment about pressure on the dline and oline is spot on. As usual good teams are good in the trenches and we aren't. That's been it tonight. And sorry LB McDonald?? He has looked lost all night.

Furthermore those of you that think Fine is costing us the game are probably also cowboys fans that thought Romo was the problem.
-
I just logged on and cannot believe people are blaming Fine. You guys are flipping crazy. Do you watch football? The OLine has been atrocious. Play calling has been suspect and don't start on the defense and dumb mistakes. The idea that anyone is trying to pin this on Fine either has something personal against him or simply doesn't know football. Case in point what just happened in the end zone. That's a major college football throw by Fine but holding results in a safety. I'm remembering why this board frustrates the hell out of me. Haven't seen it yet but I'm sure there is a thread about how bad the uniforms are because we are green and white. Ugh.

Then I must be the lucky one. I am always pumped when a game is on ESPN3, UGH!!!!!
-
Wow surprised ESPN is having these issues. In the few years I have used WatchESPN I don't EVER remembering having issues.
-
It's back
-
This has to be on North Texas and not ESPN3. What a joke. And I just went to the audio stream. Are those guys in a cave? Wren needs to fix this sh#t Rich. It's 2017
-
We are clearly headed In a good direction overall but SL needs to come out after the game and apologize to every one for this effort. Embarrassing to need a win for a bowl game against a 3-8 team and see this kind of effort. They are getting punched in the mouth and don't seem to care.

I also logged out and back in, but it seems back up.

I know it is early but another week and this team looks again like it has improved. Getting better every week. -
Important information in regards to Rice game video stream
SouthBendGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This streaming thing just made me realize we need to win!! If we start winning then our games are on TV and we don't have to worry about streaming issues and homer calls. I know I'm complaining and I will ALWAYS do whatever it takes to watch a game. But just a different experience when we are on TV or even ESPN3 for that matter. If Coach Littrell keeps the program in this direction it will happen soon my friends. -
Important information in regards to Rice game video stream
SouthBendGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes I had all the same issues. The Rice folks should be ashamed about that. They took their in stadium video feed for the game and after about the 1st quarter got the audio synced up. It was God awful. It was like when North Texas would do that about 3-5 years ago. Super bush league and terrible. Side note - did anyone catch the Rice analyst make the comment when one of our guys went down injured at the one yard line saying, and I am paraphrasing, "well I hope he isn't hurt but this really affect Rice's momentum and is bad.......I'm trying to be sensitive." or something along those lines. My wife reared up and asked if that guy seriously just said it was a bigger deal that it stopped Rice's momentum and not the injury. Tell me I'm not the only one that caught that. I almost started a thread about it. -
I have the game streaming from my laptop to my 55in TV and it looks great. Even better they have the Dave and Hank audio feed. So far so great. Fingers crossed. Tried uploading a pic but it failed

For those with Directv and the sports pack it's showing that Comcast sports Bay Area is showing the game. Channel 696. Didn't realize SFO was a hotbed of mean green fandom!! lets just hope it isn't blacked out.

MGB video: Morris talks about landing at UNT
SouthBendGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Precisely my point. He avoided mistakes and managed the game well which is all that was required of him. He didn't have to go win games. Again - that does NOT take away from his leadership or character or anything else, but it is the reality. You know I debated even posting to this topic because I knew specifically it would draw the ire of Rick with whom I had many of these debates. For some reason Scott Hall is force fielded to many on this board (not just Rick) and if the slightest bit of negativity is even remotely hinted then you are marked as not a good alum or stupid or that you don't know what you are talking about. I fail to see how you can characterize what I wrote as "trashing". It was the reality of Scott Hall as a player. I am grateful for what he contributed to our school however let's be honest about it. Finally - I will say this, because I have this inability to let things go (ask my wife), other fan bases aren't laughing because I am "college athletic ignorant", but that the performance of Scott Hall is deemed HOF worthy. Jake Coker was great for Alabama this year but their is ZERO chance he makes their HOF. It is all relative. -
MGB video: Morris talks about landing at UNT
SouthBendGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Reading this topic sent chills down my back as I relived this board when Scott Hall was here. I was very critical of him at the time and got railroaded by so many regulars including a personal email exchange with his dad. Nothing personal against the guy, but he was NOT that good. He managed the game and did it well enough, but by no stretch was he a great QB. He wasn't even in the same ballpark as Mitch Maher and Andrew Smith (God rest his soul) had more talent in his hand than Hall had in has body. But he had a top 25 defense and an amazing stable of RB's. Saying Scott Hall was a major player in the success of those teams is like saying Trent Dilfer is the reason the Ravens won the SB. Sorry folks it isn't the truth. He was a great leader, teammate and person, but that doesn't make him a great QB. I was also relatively critical of DT who threw off his back foot about 80% of the time, but he was definitely better than SH. But both were average QB's that managed the game well and rode the coattails of great RB's and defenses that were among the best in the country. It doesn't take anything away from their team success or them as people. Let the negative hits begin in 3, 2, 1... -
The officials were absolutely terrible today. It reminded me of the days I made extra cash calling intramural games. Just about every single time either team would go to the basket I anticipated a whistle and seemingly 8 out of 10 times we got it. I mean how many guys fouled out today? That tells you something. As for La Tech fans complaining about the refs had we lost this game I guarantee there would have been a similar thread. Can't remember the last time I have seen officiating that bad. Now I feel like Mark Cuban. As for the team they have some nice talent and the addition of Keith Frazier will be huge. If Brice can fill into his body and improve his footwork he could be something special. He also needs to get stronger in his hands and wow he seems like a black hole. Give that kid the ball and it's going at the bucket. But he has nice presence defensively at the rim. I also like seeing Frazier already into the team he seems very excited to be here. Benford can recruit I think we just need his coaching to catch up! It's getting a bit tiresome seeing the poor man's version of the Globetrotter weave at the top of the key which is then followed by a guard going one-on-one.

UNT 2016 National Signing Day Press Conference Thoughts
SouthBendGreen replied to NTAlum09's topic in Mean Green Football
I was in school with Steven Bartolotta who introduced coach Litrell to start this press conference and he worked for me at KNTU and has a degree in RTVF. He knows what to do. No excuse.
