I used to get all giddy when I got recognition in Chicago, but these stories are amazing. The only one I have is when I moved to Los Angeles I looked at one apartment complex in LA and it came up in conversation that I was from Texas, the Dallas area and the lady showing the apartment said, "oh yea, I went to North Texas in Denton, do you know it?" I love these stories. I can't get enough.

It really is sad they named the kid Saban. When he's like 18 and they say where did you get that dumb name he'll have to say my parents are whacked and named me after a coach that was there for 18 months and then left for an NFL Europe job! Also, is it me or is that other kid too old for a "binky"? Hopefully it's the baby's.

I actually can't believe that I kind of like that. But I will say one thing, I wish NT would pick a uniform and then keep it. I would like something nice and classy and then go with for like 100 years!

Still doesn't warrant calling him a 'garbage coach'. I'd take him in a heartbeat. And might I remind you, Mack Brown, until the Rose Bowl two years ago, was everything you just described plus he couldn't beat Oklahoma! Not saying A&M will win the national title next year, but he isn't a garbage coach. Anyone who truly thinks that doesn't know football IMO.

You are missing my point, dude. I was being optimistic saying that we will be at the Boise level where we are nationally ranked and getting to a BCS bowl by the time NT plays at Clemson in a few years. It was a grand idea for fun that you didn't get. BTW, Boise played Oklahoma. they're good.

Also how cool is that if we go play at Clemson? By my calculation NT will be at the Boise range competing for a BCS Bowl. Does that sound right to you guys?

I completely disagree with that!!! Anyway, I didn't think Penn State released the salary of JoePa. I always thought that was their bit that we don't know how much he makes.

Love for the uni's from Simmons and a funny bit about the fight song 10:13: Best unis of the tournament so far: North Texas and Texas Tech. North Texas's unis look like the Dallas Mavericks' uniforms, only with more stripes. Like 'em. 10:17: JackO finds the North Texas fight song online, then sings it for us in Bill Walton's voice. This seems like a good time to mention that he's on his second Smithwick's.

Damn, When did this board become Scotty's? No offense Scotty, I always lurk on your board. But I'm getting called an idiot and people are getting all ticked off. I don't get it. I fashion myself as a guy who knows basketball pretty well and those are my opinions. If you don't like them fine, but I think a lot of NT homerism is being shown here. I'm guilty of being a homer at times as well, but again in watching the game today I kept saying the same thing to my buddy, this team isn't very good. I'm not offended at all. The reason why I posted what I did is because it was so overwhelmingly obvious throughout the course of the game to me. I'm real giddy about the win and being 40 minutes from the tourney. However, I just couldn't get over how poorly NT played. I spent like 10 minutes on my show last talking about NT being two wins away from the tourney and even discussed it with Mark Followill when I had him on. I'm real happy and you better believe if they make the tourney I'll be talking about them and we'll have JJ on. And of course, I'll ask him why the team sucks so bad and how did they manage to win 23 games and if he read my posts on GMG.COM! A little kidding there. But, you guys are right, we should enjoy the win and I should have waited to probably post this until tomorrow. My bad, but my opinions still stand. I'm happy that we get Dave Barnett tomorrow and not the spare that ALWAYS does Sunbelt sports. He's been getting names of North Texas athletes wrong for years. How many times did he say Woodsen!?
