I know it's been said a million times, but it's so cool to see North Texas all over the Top 100 list. That hasn't happened in so long. I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't help it. It's such a change from the past. I also have a question. Does anyone know who the highest Area Top 100 was that committed to NT? I see Riley at #22 was Booger or anyone else higher than that?

Yes it is news because we didn't know, but I'm not surprised at all and I don't think anyone else should be. I'm all for throwing a frosh QB into the fire, but the fire of the SBC is much different than the fire of Norman and one of the best defenses in the country. DM has dealt with that before and will be less prone to mistakes IMO. Granted I haven't seen one practice, but from what I've read and heard it's only a matter of time before GV is starting. Frankly I'm glad TD made this decision at this point. It's smart.

Hey guys, Can someone please help me find the most up to date roster? I just purchased my copy of NCAA Football '08 and it's like an annual passage. I spend about 2 hours updating the numbers to names and whatnot. The roster on meangreensports is a good start. However, I have a feeling it isn't the most accurate. Or course I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated in this matter. Thanks. Patrick

I don't know. They way I read this is that Vizza has already moved up to at least backup right? He ran this kind of offense in HS. I think DM starts OU just because he has college experience and shouldn't get flustered, but I feel Vizza is the starter well before the halfway point of the season. Am I way off base on this? I have no clue since I haven't seen a practice, but just reading that story, that's the impression I get.

It'd be nice if the athletic department taped it and put in on meangreensports.com wouldn't it? That would be sweet for those of that don't live in the DFW area.

You know we always seem to read these type of great updates during training camp and then at the end of the day he's on the practice squad or something like that. I hope so badly that he actually gets a chance to be on a 53 man roster and contribute. We all know he can.

Gents and ladies, First, I know this isn't football related, well it kind of is, you'll see. So please admins allow this because I think everyone will get a kick out of this. Thanks in advance Cerebus and Harry. I was married in mid-July in Chicago and what a day. Backtrack a few months and I mentioned that I wanted a groom's cake and she didn't really know what that is coming from the Midwest. Come to find out that a groom's cake is pretty much a southern thing which I didn't know. She had never been to a wedding with a groom's cake. Anyway, she finally agreed and I said I want a North Texas football helmet. Of course she instantly said no. We talked about it multiple times but she said something about that being kind of trashy and lame. So after protesting to no avail I gave up and said whatever. Fast forward to the wedding reception. We make our entrance do our first dance and whatnot then cut the cake. We cut the wedding cake and I don't see the groom's cake and I'm like what gives. After we cut the wedding cake I ask her what we do next and she says wait. Next thing I know I hear the D.J. say it's now time to cut the groom's cake so everyone please stand and then I hear the first note of the single greatest fight song known to man! That's right the North Texas fight song is blaring over the speakers and out of the back they wheel out the groom's cake. IT'S A NORTH TEXAS HELMET!!!! It doesn't end there though. My wife printed out the words to the fight song and put them on every table so EVERYONE in the reception hall is singing the North Texas fight song. It doesn't end there though. The bridesmaids all had green and white pom poms and were shaking them in the air. But that's not the best thing. My friends had contacted my friends in the athletic department and the athletic department donated to them AN AUTHENTIC GAME WORN JAMARIO THOMAS JERSEY!!!!!!!! One of my buddies brought the cake out wearing the jersey and an old NT helmet that I have that my mom shipped to my wife! How amazingly cool is that? I was speechless. From the first time I mentioned an NT helmet my wife said no, knowing full well she was going to do that for me. And in her style, she went over the top with the fight song, printing out the words so people could sing along and then the authentic jersey. I now have to get it signed and framed! I felt like a dork though because at the reception I kept telling my friends that I couldn't wait to tell the guys at GMG.COM. Unfortunately I have no pictures yet. We haven't seen the professional pics yet, but I know the photographer got tons of the cake and my friend in the jersey and even some of me with the helmet on doing the Heisman pose. Anyway, when I get them I'll post some for sure. Bottom line is that my wife blew me away with this and made my wedding day that much more special. It was awesome and thanks for humoring me on this! When I talk to friends I always say that as an NT fan I'm looking for Boise type success. That's what my national championship is. In the Sunbelt we will most likely never get to a BCS Bowl. Ok we will never get to a BCS bowl. In this conference our best case scenario is to be a great mid-major that flirts with top 25 rankings. That to me is like my dream until we get into a better conference and hopefully that day will come. I always love the comparisons to Boise and that's the type of success we should shoot for.

Wow indeed! I got an email from a friend who told me of the change and had to check the boards and I'm doing so during my radio show. I'm going to mention on the air you better believe. It's not just area coaches TD has contacts with. I had a chance to interview the coach of that MTV reality show on high school football, Rush Propst. He is like the TD of the state of Alabama. At least I think it's Bama. Anyway, I asked about getting a college job and brought up that my alma mater hired a HS coach. I didn't even mention TD's name, just that it was North Texas and he proceeded to spend 5 minutes talking about how great he thinks TD is and how great of a job he'll do. Now just get him to send some talend our way!

Thanks for clearing that up. Further questions though, did Thompson graduate HS and then go there? If there is a kid that has graduated HS can he play on the team? It seems a little shady to me. Do they have athletic scholarships? Crazy.

Ok I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but what the hell is Brewster Academy? I mean did he graduate from HS and then go there? I went to their wikipedia page and it says they serve 9th-12th grade and postgraduate. What the hell does that mean? Is it like a community college? I'm so confused. Maybe I'm an idiot and I don't get it. Also why are so many kids that are D-1 players going there? I mean if some of these kids can sign with Arizona, Texas and others why not go there after high school? If you couldn't tell, I don't get it. Please help. BTW, when I think prep school I think Dead Poet's Society. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I've gotta stick up for Fiutak. I interviewed the guy numerous times and he knows as much college football as anybody in the country. I've asked him without him about North Texas before just to give him some grief and he could name just about everyone important to the Mean Green. Does he watch every game, no, but his analysis I value more than someone from ESPN or elsewhere that do generic write-ups.

It was awesome today when I turned on ESPNews and the bottom breaking news section said, "North Texas gets 2011 Super Bowl" or something like that. Of course I knew what that meant. but I had a momentary and funny vision of the Super Bowl at Fouts. That would be HI-larious.

It depresses me that high school football season tickets go for that price. That money could be better spent, I mean it's high school football for the love of everything holy!

I didn't realize NT was in the position of picking and choosing who they could take $30 million dollars from! I can't believe anyone would have a problem with that. It would be national news for a week and it would be different. I love it, no sports team sponsors a stadium. It would rule.
