  1. When I say that though, I mean in the entire game. Not just a small stretch. To be clearer, the offense played better overall than the defense. It's really that simple, and I believe that's why we lost.
  2. I don't think any of us hate watch. We are all die hard fans, otherwise we wouldn't be here. To me, it is just natural for fans and people in general to want to "fix" or point out what needs to change to WIN. After a loss in a big game, which NT has had many over the years, it is not easy to come over here and talk moral victories and say, "oh, but we are improving". At this point in my fandom, and I know there are a lot of others that have seen many, many more years of this, I am more interested in what needs to be done to WIN. I am beyond my honeymoon phase.
  3. I remember another coach who accomplished the same thing. 🤔 Now, we will see if the bowl ends up the same way.
  4. You must be new to being a North Texas fan.
  5. I think the point is, you can if you had a defense. One little stretch in a game is not enough to beat teams when you are giving up scores on every other possession. They need to play complementary football overall, not just certain times. If you look at the overall game and stats, you can say the offense did their job. Cannot say the same about the defense.
  6. If only they kept stats to track progress year over year. That would be a perfect way to show improvement. Last year 131 rank. So far this season 124, and the season isn't over and we still have a couple of big games coming up. Not sure about you, but still being in the bottom 15 of the nation in defense is not acceptable for one of the highest paid DCs in G5. Slight improvement is acceptable? Moving up 7 spots? Unacceptable, sorry.
  7. Yay!!! Moral victory! Just like last year! Maybe they should start tracking this as a stat.
  8. I don't think you can single out just this stretch. I mean, comon, the offense scored 44 points and put up over 600 yards. By your logic, they should have put up over 700 and scored 60 to win. The point is, scoring what they did should be enough to win games.
  9. This is a very good point. I think we can admit this defense is better, but only incrementally. As you said, I think for paying top G5 pay, that's just not good enough. We need to expect more. That's always been the problem.
  10. Not that I disagree with you, but are you getting paid by the school to promote just the good stuff? Your last two threads don't seem to be very emblematic of a fan who asks the hard questions.
  11. Ridge is still our best player. Lone bright spot in a deep, deep chasm...
  12. Maybe we can get a turnover.
  13. Yes, there were bad tackles in the game. It happens in all college games once in a while. I think tonight, this was not all about tackling. This has to do with no pressure on the QB. Plain and simple.
  14. Now is the time to go back to it. Caphoni, Craponi, whatever you want to call the guy is done.
  15. Why are we still talking moral victories??? At what point do we expect better than "Well, we played them close, maybe next time."
  16. This defense getting a shutout.
  17. This made me seriously LOL.
  18. You could say this happened with Tulsa. They held them to 3 points for a majority of that game, Tulsa only got garbage points. The only debatable part of that was how good Tulsas offensive is.
  19. Guess this was just the teams we played.... I noticed this too. He was visibly pissed and the fact that he started with the defense means it is the main problem on his mind. He mentioned the offense too but that was more to be PC. Maybe it worked at halftime because they did tighten some. Some would consider Tom Herman a proven HC, yet his team is 2-3. I was watching the formations and noticed the 3-3-5 several times. @aztecskin I know you will probably do an analysis, but did you see them play the same defense as the last two games formation-wise?
  20. They have been practicing with the team, right? Also, I hope they are in game shape.
  21. Thanks for the clarification. What about airports and flooding?
  22. I guess I just don't understand why no one is considering flooding. Does Florida not flood? I mean just because the storm is gone doesn't mean there won't be high waters left over. But I don't really know, just going by what Helene left behind.
  23. I would think at this point plans should already have been made to move the game. If nothing has happened, I fear this one gets moved to later in the year. This hurricane is not going to be nice to Florida.
