If you zoom in, it's the playsheet. -
Oh man, I would love to see these percentages flip when we beat Memphis and FAU.
-
Counter point. The 44 points we scored last night had more to do with us missing wide open shots. I think you could see this coming when we didnt shoot that well in the ECU game. To me, it just looked like we were gassed and literally noone shot well. I will give Charlotte some credit for their defense, but I watched every shot and most of them were wide open or blown layups. As far as being able to score 100 to beat them, that's the point of this defense, you don't have to. Look what we did to Tulane who was averaging 80+. It really comes down to the basic part of basketball. Making shots. As many have already said, we need more offense and if we want any chance of beating SMUt, we need at least Rubin back.
-
You can look at the score to see this first thing. Holding them to 56 is what we do. 44 points in a game is just not normal for us.
-
The bottom line is we have no offense outside of JE. Until we figure out how to recruit some offense, this will happen. Maybe I am speaking out of emotion right now, but the offense outside of JE the last two games has looked like a high school team playing pickup ball at the gym. Some will say, oh their defense was good, blah, blah. We just didn't make shots. Plain and simple.
-
I didn't say lethal.
-
Yeah, thats one thing to keep in mind in these last 3 games. No Rubin or Buggs. This team is gunna be even more of a force when they get back.
-
Me too. He's a good coach. Not just coach speak, I felt like he really puts his heart into it.
-
Did he punch the wall in frustration?
-
It is very hard to do. You just have off nights. Look at FAU who looked like they could run the table.
-
Sometimes I do wonder how much better this team would have been with JE And TP! Oh man....
-
This is my view. I thunk Rubin can handle the ball and is a lock down defender, but he isn't going to be our primary scorer. That's my boy JE!!
-
I don't know what it will take for us to finally get the respect that we deserve, but running through this conference like a steam roller definitely will help!!

American Athletic Conference Player of the Week

This dude is a baller. So happy to have him. Hodge and Co really deserve some major recognition for finding him and recruiting him. I said before the season he could be as good or maybe better than TP when all is said and done.... -
I completely respect this side of the coin. I guess it's just what we have to expect from our fan base. We come to games to watch and to contribute silently.
-
This has been a complaint of mine for a while. When I go to games it is like people go to sit there and eat popcorn. Why go see a team live if you aren't going to give some energy and cheer? Football is the same way. Our fan base is strange.

It's always the same. Their team is the problem, not our defense.

Several observations. As others have mentioned, we did this without 2 starters. JE is a monster. I have been telling @Big Z this all season. AScott, Allen, and Sissoko did an amazing job of managing their fouls in the end. There were even some great defensive plays AScott made with 4 fouls. Just an overall North Texas type of game. We made them play how we wanted.

I don't think I have ever seen A Scott smile. Also, that's a pretty half assed claw. Other than that, I love AScott!
-
Yeah, I am a HUGE AScott fan, but he is just not consistent enough to be an effective offensive weapon. I think we can replace some of what he was giving in the beginning with Walker. Once he replaces Stone in the lineup, there is the difference we have been missing in these close games!
-
I feel like Bean was pretty much shown the door when he got benched.
-
This reminds me of last year when @Big Z and I went to the game in Arlington. We couldn't find the arena, so we asked someone on campus which direction it was and they looked at us and told us they had no clue.
-
You are comparing him to the entire country. He isn't Luka. I am not saying he is the best PG in the country, I am saying he is the one facilitating the offense. Also, assists mean jack if the player you pass to doesnt make their shot, which I have seen waaay more than not on this team. There are also things he does that don't show up on the stat sheet. Since you played the game, you should know that of all people. He has to be a little bit between a shooting PG and a "true PG" since we don't really have anyone else that can do that.
-
Hahaha, good one. What do you define as a "true PG"? If it's assists, which is the key stat you can measure for a facilitating player, you might want to check stats before you make assine statements.
