When do you make the change then? Give him a full year and sit through this again? I don't expect them to hire a top DC. My expectations are not even that high, but they are higher than LAST in the nation. As stated by many others on this forum, good coaches make things happen even with a bare cupboard. It was painfully obvious that he did not play to the players strengths throughout the season and kept trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Sometimes you have to not make excuses and look at what's in front of you. Ignoring that we don't have the players to run this scheme, what have we truly seen from Caponi that shows he can get it done as a DC?

Are you basically saying the players we have are incapable of learning to tackle? To me, its on the coach to be able to teach them some of the basics. There were also a lot of times where they were flat out of position, which resulted in big plays. I think saying this is a lack of talent is completely glossing over the failure at the coaching level.

I know it might have been talked about somewhere in here, but the announcers in this game talked about Rogers having "a decision to make". I have heard here someone say he would have to sit if he transfered, so he pretty much has to come back to UNT. Anyone know if this is true?

I posted this in the game thread, but it got lost. If you play back the broadcast, right at the 19:00 mark the announcers talk about what Morris said about choosing the QB this season. Essentially, he said "the competition wasn't close....but he (Stone) flashed at times". Really????

He owned up to the Stone and Rogers mistake. You guys want to really be pissed. Go back to 19:00 on the broadcast and listen to what the broadcasters said about what Morris said about these 2. It makes me question his decision making a little bit. He did own up to that mistake though.

I worry about that, but also, so far, how many defensive players do we have committed? I know we talk about the portal, but I am not seeing that taking this defense from last to anywhere near where it needs to be to compete in this conference.

Oh, if you look at that CBS link it says updated Nov 20th, but I think that is just the schedule part. I don't think NET rankings have started back up yet for this season.

They are 5-0 and #25 in the nation. Imagine a scenario where we go 4-0 in the games before we play them and they are still undefeated when we play them. That could setup to be a MASSIVE game. I realize we would still have to beat a good Boise St. team in Boise, but it would make that game even more of a must watch. We would have to be ranked then. They have Nicholls, Georgia Tech, Southern U, Tulane, and Murray St. Maybe GT might be the toughest in there.

I think it's an "exhibition".

Vegas didn't think the Towson game was an exhibition. We were only 4 point favs.

To that point, it doesn't look like we have any DL commits for next season, do we? According to 247, we don't. We have offers out.

Not saying they are overrated, but in a general sense, there have been a lot of crazy upsets this early in the year for top 25 teams.

Yeah, to be fair, I don't know how good he is in the limited minutes he has played, but as @GMG_Dallas said, I think we are covered with guards already.

As stated before, this was a very impressive win. Vegas had us winning by only 4. Stone did make his shots, if we can get offense with his defense, it's going to really help this team. I think A Scott did A Scott things. We are really just one shot away from playing for a higher place, but that's the way the ball bounces sometimes. Some people may say Towson was tired, but we played the same schedule. This was a great confidence booster for the team and also as others have stated, we have 2 more games to gell even more before a tough match up in Boise. I think by that point we will see how much improvement the team has made. I can't wait!!

It's funny the roller coaster this forum goes through. The defense played OK. They held a bad Tulsa team and honestly, almost gave it up. We are bottom of the AAC, we just aren't last!! Congrats!!
