Wow, for one of our beat games of the season, this thread was dead! Guess fans were on Christmas break too!! With that said, this was the most complete game against a team that hung around with TTech.

First Quarter Complete - What's your Grade?

That's what the portal is for. 😏 -
First, I have to acknowledge that these pickups are amazing for us. On the other side of the ball though... which is our weakness, I am still worried.
-
I wouldn't go that far....yet. We need a QB.

Calling This Before I Can Say "I Told You So"

100% agree with this. As much as I love Grant, I think the real defense was Hodge. Grant is a great coach, but Tylor definitely made him look amazing. -

I assume since he was talking to the new OL coach, Cutter, it would be for OL? -
Cal lands North Texas QB transfer Chandler Rogers

For some reason it is what we do here. A lot of people on here have an ex-girlfriend complex. You should see how often TP is mentioned on the basketball forum. I admit, I randomly check on ex players just to see, but it isn't worth a post. -
A few games ago, I felt good we could take this one. Not now. I hope I am wrong, but we just can't seem to close games.
-
100%, we were posting at the same time.
-
Where does the offense come from then? It's purely a numbers game. We get an average of 50-60 possessions a game. There are 5 Guards and 3 Forwards in our rotation. Let's call 2 of those forwards centers (Sissoko/Allen). That leaves one Forward, A Scott and he should be getting 13+ shots a game. So where do the other 37-47 come from? I think you are talking about the difference between a point guard and a shooting guard. Rubin kind of bounces between, but we don't have many shooting guards outside of JE.
-
Do you watch much basketball? It is pretty standard for your better offensive players to get this many shots.
-
We are guard strong. That's our biggest offense. Only A Scott has any offense outside of our guards.
-
And to be fair, Edwards had the last shot to put this game away and missed it. I don't blame him, just saying he got the chance. Also, the end of the last game where he made the bone head move to go to the basket with a lead and got blocked. Thats all to say, we just don't have a closer like TP. The more I watch these close games turn into losses, it shows just how many games we won last year because of TP.
-
Yep, we have definitely taken a step back. Defense is what we hang our hat on and it lost us this game. Giving up a dunk of any kind at the end of a game is beyond bad.

8 games in: what do we now know of the Hodge era?
BigWillie replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I am a big Jason Edwards fan, but his basketball IQ is not very good. I think he will gain this. I too see the rushed shots by him, but that isn't because he doesn't get the chances. Look at his attempts per game. Right up there with starters. What I see is he is trying to be the hero and jacking up all kinds of shots instead of looking for the best shot. Whether he will learn not to do this, we will see. -

Exactly this! 100% my take. I would like to see Rubin try to be the closer. A Scott's offense is too inconsistent, Jason Edward's decision making is not good. Sissoko is not polished yet. Buggs has still not shown a ton. Noland might be the only other option. -
I wonder how many other schools already have transfers committed since the portal opened.
-
I am by no means a SL supporter. I think they did the right thing in getting rid of him, but if we are talking about being better than what he left, that's my point. Regardless of what type of bowl it was, it was better than sitting at home. Hell, we were even in the championship game. All those points that were made in the original post mean nothing if it didn't get the job done. THAT'S what I was saying.
-
But we had just finished making a bowl game.....just sayin.
-
This is exactly how I feel. Back to back NIT Champs doesn't sound too bad though! 😉
-
Wow....
-
Well, I think this was a chance for us to prove something. I still believe in this team, but it shows where we are right now. We are middle of the pack.
-
That's going to make this really hard. He has been the best player on our side.
-
Not sure why, but we fall in love with them so much.
