Yeah, I think it was a little frustration point that Mac leaves and does even better, but I agree, I think we win today with Rubin. But I think that's part of my point, Mac was able to recruit scorers and depth. They had a starter go down for the season (Cambridge) and still able to beat really good teams. We lose a piece, albeit a crucial piece and we have problems winning.

I didn't want to start a new thread, but something I was thinking was I feel like Hodge and Mac are both great coaches, but it seems like the facilities and conference helped Mac more this year. I am not saying we are terrible, but Mac is probably in the top 15 teams this year in his first season. He does play different than he did here and it isn't the slow paced offense, but it still works. I don't know where I am going with this, but we still haven't won a marquee game yet and this is what winning culture does, it makes you feel frustrated when you don't take that next step.

Gotcha. Thought that might be what you meant.

Not yes. Helps for standings, but you really want teams you beat to do well for strength. What does that say about us that we barely beat them but Wichita beats them by 5?
-
Exactly. This was one missed. He did again. I love how this post aged. Another missed call. To be fair, it did at home against SMU. Yes, exactly, I don't think most on here are really mad about overall how the game was called, but the timing of WHEN the refs start to call things they didn't before. Just like in SMU, for some reason, when the game is on the line they get whistle happy.

How did we only move up 3 spots?? Maybe because it was a Quad 2 at home? https://bballnet.com/teams/north-texas

This is the life of the rich. Pay for status. Wonder why they haven't ever considered hiring fans to come to the games for them! 🤔

Have we really gotten that lazy in society that we can't take an extra 20 seconds and read back what we wrote to make sure it looks right? Maybe I am getting old, or maybe it's an OCD thing, just seems like it doesn't require THAT much more time. I don't really care for the most part, but just me yelling at the clouds.

Should we storm the court if we defeat SMUt tonight?

What I would expect from Uppity Park. Delusions of grandeur. -

Comon be a better sport. It literally came down to one shot. If that 3 had gone down, I would be unhappy, but I wouldn't be saying our team is not that good. It's the kind of game you shake the other team's hand and just say "Good game." We have sure been on the other end of that. Go back and look at our Fordham game. Lost by a fingertip to a team that's a 3 digit NET team. Doesn't mean we aren't good. Bottom line is it's hard to win road games in any league. See the big 12 right now also. -
Top 10 Super Pit Crowds of All Time per Zac Babb
BigWillie replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Basketball
That's nuts. Watching the broadcast, they showed that Gonzaga crowd and it was packed! I think this goes to show how much better it looks to have a smaller capacity arena. For Super Pit at 10k capacity, it really takes a lot to fill. -

When I looked over, it looked like a couple were about to try but they had Denton police and security lined up right in front. I hope they don't do that when we beat Memphis and FAU in Denton. -
These aged like a fine wine!! As many have mentioned, so many kudos to go around for the whole team. The refs however can go back to coaching 5 year olds where they can call that trash. I would start with proper floor wipers with handles. They are only like $500 of that 1.2 million. I keep saying it, but this might be the year I donate them!

I feel like I have seen some major games on the national broadcasts that are on the ESPN app on demand, but just a feeling from seeing other ranked matchups there.
-
Let's just win both and not worry about splitting hairs.
-
That's a good perspective also.
-
Not to mention it's an away game on a quick turnaround. Would be waaay bigger of a win.

If you zoom in, it's the playsheet. -
Oh man, I would love to see these percentages flip when we beat Memphis and FAU.

Counter point. The 44 points we scored last night had more to do with us missing wide open shots. I think you could see this coming when we didnt shoot that well in the ECU game. To me, it just looked like we were gassed and literally noone shot well. I will give Charlotte some credit for their defense, but I watched every shot and most of them were wide open or blown layups. As far as being able to score 100 to beat them, that's the point of this defense, you don't have to. Look what we did to Tulane who was averaging 80+. It really comes down to the basic part of basketball. Making shots. As many have already said, we need more offense and if we want any chance of beating SMUt, we need at least Rubin back.
-
You can look at the score to see this first thing. Holding them to 56 is what we do. 44 points in a game is just not normal for us.
-
The bottom line is we have no offense outside of JE. Until we figure out how to recruit some offense, this will happen. Maybe I am speaking out of emotion right now, but the offense outside of JE the last two games has looked like a high school team playing pickup ball at the gym. Some will say, oh their defense was good, blah, blah. We just didn't make shots. Plain and simple.

I didn't say lethal.
