Ben Gooding's post in New UNT Uniforms? was marked as the answer
If they have them, they need to release them. Anything to boost recruiting.

Ben Gooding's post in Home-home series w/ Liberty was marked as the answer
I get it. Then Wren needs to be more forthcoming on the negotiations of this contract. Someone needs to simply ask, "Why?". And he needs to simply give a solid reason outside of "maneuvering to the inside lane during rush hour to free up scheduling opportunities." If that is his probable answer, then the next simple question needs to be, "How?". Because without more detail into this, it's all speculation on everyone's part. We also need to know what happened to Army on those two dates. Surely we didn't manipulate the contract with Army to create this series. That would be a rotten cherry on top if we did. And at a place like UNT, it can't just be assumed they were the one's to ask for open dates. Wren Baker up to this point has been extremely transparent and open with all moves, goals, his vision, etc. Why all of sudden go silent on a horrible decision? Is he trying to hide his pocket aces on a series he has worked up in 2032 & 2036? If so, I guess great. But it still begs the question, WHY LIBERTY? He needs to find a mic and speak to all of his constituents. Tonight seems like an opportunity to do exactly that.

Ben Gooding's post in So who got the best transfer QB in C-USA this year? was marked as the answer
Not to nitpick, but *Driskel.
But to answer your question, who knows. Only time will truly tell. I personally think much like @MGNation92 does on this topic. Fine is exactly what his last name is, Fine. The adjective fine is not going to get us to a CUSA-W crown. It will not win us the CUSA champ. The person Fine is only going to take us so far. And like what was said earlier in this thread, I kind of think he peaked. His ceiling was never really that high to begin with to be brutally honest. And unfortunately, I think he already hit it. He's undersized, lacks arm strength, hesitant, skittish feet, etc. I am not trying to be a know it all with buzz words nor am I trying to belittle the guy. I am just typing out what I saw last season.
Best case scenario (IMO) - Isadoe is what we hope he is and he comes into Fall camp with a strong summer and a great grasp on the playbook. He rips the job away from Fine during camp. Fine backs up and Pearson takes a RS.
Next case scenario - Start Fine in the season opener and rotate in and out QB2 and hope that one of them kind of separates himself during live game action.
A pleasantly surprising scenario (and possible one) - Fine gets better throughout the summer and locks in to re-win the job during camp. Goes on to throw 2 bills a game throughout the season and a 2-1 TD ratio. We are a competitive team in CUSA.
Ultimately, I really don't know. I think I don't know because I truly don't know what we are getting in Isadore.

Ben Gooding's post in CUSA and Sunbelt Merger About to Happen Folks was marked as the answer
I don't think their Tulane issue is as big of a deal as our SMU deal is. Those universities are located at completely different sides of the state with completely different fan base followings, and markets for that matter. La Tech will be hurt because the only decent market close to them is Shreveport and that isn't really saying a whole lot.

Ben Gooding's post in Charlie Strong to become next head coach at USF was marked as the answer
This is a good hire by USF. He knows that area and has been recruiting it hard since the mid-90's with Spurrier. His team while he was at Louisville was compromised of a ton of Florida talent.
They could quickly own that side of the AAC.

In 2014 we wet the bed and it hurt us. It made 2013 kind of all for nothing as far as garnering more attention. In 2015, we shit the bed and it turned people off again...Much like how Todd Dodge turned people off. If, and big if...we capitalized on the 2013 season by having any kind of smidgen of success and not blowing our own selves up in 2015 we would be fine. Dan McCarney hurt this program quite a bit. His absolute lack of commitment to this football program hurt this program and is still hurting this program. To add a little insult, we're still paying this guy good money. Perfectly good money. To add a little more insult we're still paying the idiot that hired him good money. It was the most demoralizing thing I have witnessed as far as athletics go. What gets me maybe more than anything...there were STILL people supporting that dumpster fire piece of shit athletic program. CRAZY. ugh. It pisses me off again every time I think about it. Just gross.

Ben Gooding's post in North Texas Football 2015 Spring Game Thoughts was marked as the answer
This whole experience thing to me is garbage. Though I understand experience is indeed important, but we have to start rolling out our best 11 on offense and defense regardless of experience. Let the best 22 be on the field as much as possible. Let the opposition week to week dictate who our best 22 are, but nevertheless put the best we have on the field even if we have to throw true freshmen out there. If they're better, they're better regardless of experience.

Ben Gooding's post in What to do with UAB's situation? was marked as the answer
I have 0 insight on it as well and won't act like I do. However, CUSA would benefit from pushing the envelope rather than taking a backseat. North Texas is hungry for a baseball team and we sit in an area that is littered with baseball talent and CUSA must know that. Also, recruiting in baseball in terms of getting talent (not evaluation) is far, far easier than both football and basketball. And with that it is easier to have faster and prolonged success in baseball. TCU and Dallas Baptist are reaping the benefits of the talent pool that is DFW while we sit back and just talk about what could be. Arguably our most successful program is softball (and yes I know they are just 14-15 overall but with a tough OOC slate) and the sports are similar in terms of recruiting and productivity. To me, for what it's worth, getting a baseball program stood up should be priority #1. All resources should be pushed to that priority until it happens.
Side note... I was talking with a fellow alum yesterday and we both agreed with a scenario of putting all of our eggs in one basket. It's beyond apparent that UNT cannot be good in everything. So why not devote the majority of our resources in one direction and make a conscious and public effort to be exceptional in one thing, how be it baseball, football or basketball. The current plan isn't working and being great in one thing would supersede being average (at best) across the board. I think we can all agree that we would be comfortable with going 10-2 in football and 8-22 in basketball or 4-8 in football and 22-8 in basketball rather than the current format of 15-15 and 4-8/3-9. Choose, make it public and roll with it. It works and works well for athletic programs such as Duke, KU, UK, Syracuse, SDSU, UNC, Arizona, etc. in basketball and Alabama, USC, Florida State, Boise, TCU, Utah St, Auburn, Georgia, etc. in football. These programs don't necessarily make their commitment "public" like I noted, but they don't have to bc it's very clear what is important to them and they dump resources into what is most important to them. This would piss a lot of people off that like football more than bball and vice versa but I think it's an approach that UNT would benefit from collectively. Call me crazy, but being mediocre (if we're lucky) in everything is apparently not working.

Ben Gooding's post in How does this Iowa coach keep his job? was marked as the answer
All right Wardly except we averaged well over 21k in 2013. If we put together something respectable in terms of production they will come. And one year of a respectable product only dusts off the cobwebs. A winning season in 2015 is imperative. That would create consistency. Sandwiching 2 winning season in between a losing season is something I can live with and so could a TON of foregone alum. Create consistency and North Texas could be something special. This season, 2015, may be the most single important season in North Texas football history. Losing is not an option.

Ben Gooding's post in MGB: Reese appeal denied was marked as the answer
This is what I like to call a classic case of bullshit. If we're P5 he would be playing the first game right after Christmas break. There are athletes allll over the country that get reinstated in exact cases such as this one, in the P5 of course. Then there are the cases of horrible misconduct off the field/court and the NCAA turns a blind eye to it.
Joke.

Ben Gooding's post in Dajon In Canales Offense was marked as the answer
I am sure they do. He may be their meal ticket for the 2014 season. If he doesn't pan out (he will) then all blame falls on the staff for under-developing and struggling in recruiting. 3+ years to find a DT replacement. At this point this has been inexcusable.

Ben Gooding's post in UNT QB was marked as the answer
The debate here was never really about philosophy. Pro Greer fans pointed to philosophy to provide an excuse for 2 bad offensive performances. And yes, our performance against SMU on offense was still relatively inept. Even with the philosophy in place 200/200 yards gained is ideal. We were 250/100, which will win games if we can consistently flirt with 250 yds rushing. That's the $ question, can we keep that up facing 8-9 man fronts bc they are coming. Then when they come can Greer stand in there and deliver. I'm not so sure, but I hope so. GMG

Ben Gooding's post in UNT president announces budget cuts in wake of financial problems was marked as the answer
I get what you're saying, but as I get older? What does that have to do with anything? I see that schools that can feasibly market themselves due to their value they are going to. As far as getting older, I am 27. That's old enough to see the manipulative ways that universities try to lure kids to their schools. Nevertheless, the thousands less above the rest is BS and needs to be put to bed quickly. It's awful. It is a sincere embarrassment to the university, current student body, and to the thousands of alum.
