2018 CUSA Newcomer of the Year race
Ben Gooding replied to jdennis82's topic in Mean Green Basketball
26 ppg is a Wooden award type stat. He'll definitely get CUSA POTY, so it definitely opens the door for Smart for newcomer of the year. But we can't just thumb our nose at Coleby's 24 ppg over at WKU. -
Tonight was encouraging. I am definitely not a moral victory type of guy, but tonight was a gutsy performance. UNT won the game in everything except the turnover differential (18 to 5) and free throw shooting (7/16). Higher shooting percentage. Higher 3 ball %. Out rebounded Middle and has more team assists. The turnovers and poor free throw shooting has hurt this team all season, and tonight it reared its ugly head once again. Nevertheless, very good and refreshing competitiveness, specifically on the road vs a March Madness opponent. All I ask of all of our sports programs is competitiveness I have bought in on McCasland. He's a good one.

Those calls are criminal. I would've lost my mind and been ejected with him had it been a UNT player.

Texas San Antonio Students Vote Against Athletic Fee

Not to praise The Pit or anything at all, but I have literally been in nicer and more aesthetic high school gyms. -

Blueshirts are for guys that you know you can land now that won't be there for you in the following class. Do these guys, the blueshirts from last year, really fall into that category? Were we 100% certain that there weren't going to be better options this year? If my memory serves me right, I believe those 6 blueshirts from last year had a total of 3 offers that weren't UNT. It's just frustrating to watch it unfold. I get trying to have your full 85, but I'd rather wait until we get some studs in here that are scholarship worthy than hurrying up and trying to fill slots like it appears what we have done.

May I ask which university this is?

I don't understand the constant TO's in spurts. When the game gets sloppy like that the ball should rarely touch the ground. Swing it around the arc until an open shooter is found. We can't afford 8 TO's in a half vs a decent team.

I thought at the time those blue shirts were dumb, and a year of maturation and I still think they are dumb.

DRC: Who won signing day in C-USA? Hint -- think buffalo

Undersign/oversign. Every class does it and it eventually helps or hurts down the line. -
33-21 UNT. Half. Finally, a competitive bunch.

Move along, nothing to see here. Marshall has historical bad retention. I'll be very surprised if their actual haul is 25. -
'18 ATH Isaac Beverly (Del City, OK)
Ben Gooding replied to djohnnie's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Well, it looks like he should've spent October, November, and December on his academics and not narrowing down offer lists of school he won't attend. -
Man, you are still reaching about this. Who recruits the best 2 and 3 stars in our conference? Who is always a contender in our conference? Are you telling me that you truly believe that it is just a coincidence that the same teams is the answer to both questions?

Lemme get that +1...

I can't argue with any of this. If the athletic department and the University wants to get serious about something like, then they should contemplate pulling back elsewhere to push forward with this. It would be a win-win for all. But that means the University somewhere would have to be understanding about this.

Nah, we need boisterous fan such as yourself sitting as close as possible, not in the golf clap sections.

Nope. The lack of DL on the roster paired with the lack of what we have coming in for interior DL is concerning. I really don't know what this staff is thinking or doing. The average of average running games we face are going to have heydays vs UNT.
-
I think 3 running backs are the bottom of the barrel of adequacy, but still adequate especially given I don't think we will use any of them like a work horse like Jeff Wilson. So it significantly decreases their injury risk. I just don't like moving Siggers moving to defense because I thought he would be a good bowling bowl type player in open space out of the slot.

Storylines for C-USA heading into national signing day
Ben Gooding replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
"We don't have any more ships. Also, plugs and play players, as you call them, are not as needed on this team." I'm trying to comprehend. Having no such luck. -
