If we still have spots available. Think they're getting semi close to being full. With QB/DL room needing some help. -
You know I can't spill the beans. I think JD and I are going to discuss it on his Patreon Podcast, and for once I knew something he didn't 😁😆

For anyone worrying about our Portal guys and how solid they are. How Portal works they commit to school, nothing binds them to said school until they enroll on campus. Classes this semester begin January 16th for UNT, now here comes the genius part of what our coaches have done. This is the NCAA recruiting calendar. The Red Dates mean no contact (I know you're asking how are kids posting offer during a dead period?) there are ways around it IE calling coach to tell them to tell the kid etc. With classes beginning on Tuesday the 16th I would imagine our guys have to report back the 14th get meetings, class schedules, for the transfers get Housing set up, classes scheduled etc. Knowing that they will have to move in it would make sense to do that starting on Saturday at the latest but who knows. Just some information for curious minds on how our Portal stuff will work and we will be able to hold onto those guys. They would able to visit Jan 3-7 so we still have some work to do to secure the transfers. I made a mistake and need to adjust found some more information on the change in transfer portal. Dec. 18 through Jan. 11, 2024 (see Bylaw 13.02.5.5.1.1), except as noted below: DEAD PERIOD • Jan. 3-7, 2024: Quiet period for two- and four-year college transfer prospective student-athletes who intend to enroll midyear. • Jan. 5-7, 2024: Quiet period for national service academies. QUIET PERIOD A quiet period is that period of time when it is permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution’s campus. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may be made during the quiet period. DEAD PERIOD A dead period is that period of time when it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off the member institution’s campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by prospective student-athletes to the institution’s campus. My apologies I accidentally pasted the Dead Period outline behind the Quiet Period. Here is the corrected Definition

List of HS Signees for the '24 UNT Football Class
GMG24 replied to GMG24's topic in Mean Green Football
Um, rather the opposite 3 down front is the hardest to recruit in the country. Reason being 1 every P5 school in the country grabs the Mountain Men you know 6'3"-6'6" 280-330 Pound DL, whether they are 3 or 4 down doesn't matter. Then you are left combing through the scraps of what is left over if you want the big boys that eat up double teams (which is really what you need in 3-3-5). Your 3 down are supposed to demand doubles allowing your LB/Safeties whoever is in the run fit to fly around. This past year our LBs had OL in their laps most of the snaps the only DL I noticed that demanded a double towards middle/end of the year was 94 Moore and he was able to beat them most plays. So now you are dropping down to the 6'-6'2" range which is why PB preffered 4 down, get away with much smaller DL because they slanted and moved better than most OL so you could essentially out quick the block instead of defeating the double. FWIW every scheme has its issues, the defense at times looked really good, but for the most part it looked really bad. I do not think it is entirely schematic, nor is it entirely lack of quality players. I believe with what they are bringing in so far on the back end will help, and I am excited to see what they do on the DL in January. Yes I KNOW I KNOW we need a $#@# QB!! -

Trust the process 🥸

I think they're calling him an ATH for now, trying to pull another HS RB I believe.

Only problem with May window.. $$$$ schools will pay big money to get guys to come in and sure up rosters. I was told by an SEC DL coach that is when kids can possibly get the most $$ because they know what the legitimate need is at that time post spring ball. I'd like to have 2/3 scholarships available for that and have the rest allocated by then.

Zach Evans Ikaika Ragsdale Qualan Farrar Makenzie McGill PWO RB Commits None Currently I believe they had a couple in this weekend so maybe we can re-visit this later.
-
Don't give an ideas... but I wouldn't be surprised to see us go full tilt on the DL in January.
-
The top tier are garnering so much attention not sure what will be left may as well let the wave settle and regroup in January... I'm very pleased so far! If they've done this so far they'll find the other pieces. I have no doubt.
-
Full ride, vs maybe 10/15% probably helped make that decision. Now if we could just get a baseball program we already have a D1 kid on campus lol

Latest puzzle piece

For the life of me I can't figure out why we haven't... but there is obviously something there.
