Dumb we couldn't find a spot. Dude was always there trying to get local kids to stay local.
-
My reference to sloppy seconds is this, Colorado state comes through offers a kid who's probably an FCS kid at best, all of a sudden he ends up with Colorado state, Kansas, k state Iowa state, then we have to bump to the next tier. I wish it wasn't that way, but Herman was full of smoke and mirrors and got kids to stay local on false pretenses and promises. Then as soon as the opportunity presented itself he left. Leaving plenty of kids pretty pissed off. You don't have to believe me, just the observation I've made in my times in the coaching world, unbiased by the way.

I screwed up, it's fixed now.

This is true, just know we aren't totally innocent either. But not on the level of UTSA, UH, BU etc.

Because of the same reason a kid chooses a Florida school or any other school not named us that's local, kids want to get away sometimes why not make that an option. Hell fly into Miami spend 3 nights there hit 20-30 schools there fly back. Cost 1,000-1,500 bucks and maybe you pull 2 kids from Florida every year. I'm not saying abandon ship, but the Florida school coaches etc know much less of our history of not winning than TX coaches. Until we start winning a lot and consistently that's a battle we will face with TX coaches, theyll look down at UNT bc of our history and so will the kids. It is what it is, when you were growing up didn't you keep up or have interest in a school who didn't win football games? I wasn't, I was all about OU, ATM etc, I lived in Denton my entire life, took me until my senior year to go to a UNT game. I'm just offering some options if we can't start hauling in good local talent and settling for sloppy seconds all the time.

Notes from Coaches Caravan in Houston tonight

His only problem, the dude was a scout team practice player for a year, anyone in here put your nose to the grind stone and never slacked a little? The dude took plays off last season in PRACTICE. He didn't need have much in sight as far a"reward/game days" to drive him. He will be an all conference player for 3 years, and an anchor in this defensive line (best unit on team bar none) -

No doubt, but imagine if they could get even a fraction of that 20-30,000 100 dollar donors. Nothing wrong with Strength in numbers. -
Several on here who are boosters have tweeted kids. It is what it is, NCAA ain't doing anything about it. Kevin Sumlin tweeted a pic with kid who hadn't signed yet and nothing happened. Too hard to monitor social media, NCAA behind the times and it's beyond obvious

He isn't real good compared to the old Skool guys but kids like it so whatever.

That's what happens when you half____ put together a class. Thanks Dan

Think too many people have a belief that being a donor means 1,000s of dollars if 250,000 alums gave 100 bucks that's 25,000,000 dollars. Granted it'd have to be earmarked for athletics but damn that isn't a big ask. -
Anyone else wish we recruited the Deep South more? If I was a coach in CUSA I'd be in every school from Louisiana to Florida/Georgia. Primarily Florida, too much speed down there.

No idea who Wale is, but good job!! Obviously kids love it!

The emergence of Caleb Chumley he's a matchup disaster and will either require a bracket coverage (makes Guyton potentially lethal) he had 7 or 8 targets in spring game, caught 3 was over thrown once and dropped 2 got one wrestled away. Talk about two nice security blankets. Anything to help relieve pressure from run game. You got a glimpse of why Memphis, Oregon St, Missouri, Kansas, Tx State all wanted him at TE. This dude could be getting ALOT of $ one day in league if he figures it out and works hard.

Didn't he recently lose a close family member? That's always tough and everyone reacts differently. Here's to hoping he pulls it together -
I just wanna win, don't give a Rats behind who starts. Also FWIW this ship doesn't count against a class, as he had been here 2 years previously. He has also been granted another year of eligibility. By my count he has this season, and next season so he could potentially be a 2 year starter. 2016: • Made his North Texas debut on 11/12 at WKU, going 0-for-1 passing and carried once for no gain 2015: • Did not see any action 2014: • Did not appear for the Mean Green 2013: • Redshirted first year on campus, after walking on following the spring semester at Oklahoma State High School: • Attended Heritage Hall HS, and then went to Choate Rosemary Hall, a preparatory school in Connecticut • Threw for over 1,500 yards as a senior at Heritage Hall

Hopefully he doesn't have out of this world test scores ACT/SAT and Northwestern stays away. He seems like their type. Now rated a .822 3 star by 247

18' OL (Guard) Kameron King (Marshal) - 3*
GMG24 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Unfortunately these are not uncommon, hopefully they get that corrected but it could be good for us, unfortunately lots of schools know about Marshall so they will still make that drive/flight just to check them and Texas High etc. So many good, raw athletes out there because they all play everything. -
Don't disagree, but if you want to pull a kid out of a Allen/Desoto type school you better have someone there every other day per the rules. It shouldn't take till day 13 of spring ball to get to campus and see multiple Allen kids we've offered. Just doesn't make sense DFW is too heavily recruited to do that. Hell we have been getting D2-NAIA who have been flying here to try and get a kid or two from DFW. point is you can't just offer a dfw kid and think well that settles that, no you better show up as many times as allowed and recruit the heck out of that school. Let coaches know how much you want the kid etc.

Help someone if UNT showed up to spring practice. I heard today was their first day at an Allen spring practice 13 days in. I can't verify that but it comes from a coaching friend whom I trust.
