'18 QB Cade Fennegan(Dallas Wilson HS)

I think it speaks to getting your best players on the field however you can. He moved from QB-RB (hurt his shoulder and didn't play last year)- now to LB. he can run and doesn't seem to mind contact. I like the move a lot.

I think you'll be pleased with our secondary's progress. A guy who trains local HS DB and college kids told me they've been working all summer in man technique every one of our DBs. His opinion, Brooks best player in secondary, McClain could be a NFL talent if he has break out season with a few more INT/PBU's, said Jenkins is the hardest worker of the group FWIW.

End Zone Club A limited number of seats in the North End Zone Club area will be available to the public for the 2017 Bowl Game. For $125 you will have the opportunity to access the premium area right on field level, just behind the North End Zone. This club includes access to complimentary food and beverages and the best view in the house. Tickets to the End Zone Club can be purchased once tickets are available this fall. I am pretty sure it was like a double decker type deal, field level then if you wanted climb up a ladder and watch from 10-12 feet above the field.

DRC: News, notes from opening day of practice

Heaven forbid they make sure to get more than one guy reps. -
At the major schools football makes the $ that funds every other sport. One day, maybe we will be there.

Guess what happens when you fix the track/soccer complex? To make sure your FACILITIES are desirable and marketable to other conferences. THEN, you can add baseball which means you'll have to add another female sport to be in Title IX compliance. Maybe you are correct, seems I've read or heard that we would need to either add a sport or up our female athlete number if baseball was added. I'll have to ask the Wren one day when I run into him.
-
Yes to first part hell nah to second. Let's win and make money in first 3 big sports first, before adding a money drain and having to bring on another female sport to stay in Title IX compliance.

no doubt, did you notice the drop tile ceilings? nope because they raised them and painted them black, added light that takes your eyes away from it. -
Bball aficionados - how good can AJ Lawson be?
GMG24 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I think he'll go down in the top 10 in scoring in program history. He's only going to improve with the structure GMac is bringing to the program, I was going to say Tristan Thompson but I think Lawson is much better than Tristan. He's a long guard who also has the physical ability to get in the paint and finish through contact. I was very impressed the two times I saw him play last year. Went to watch him and Woolridge, had to just focus on them as I was losing my mind watching the mess happening on the court. I am very excited for where we are headed in the program, and looking forward to watching good Bball in Denton again. Moved to Corinth from Carrollton so the drive is much more doable now. -
I also like the idea because it gets them to games across the entire season not front or back end. Allows them to see progress or regression as well as experience Apogee at different times of the year. Surface of the sun, Orbiting the sun, Hot. Gotta love Texas baby!

We should easily be able to put something like this in our current set up, man our facilities are behind. -
DRC: Wylie high school coach talks about Jordan Hunt
GMG24 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It's funny because a lot of local coaches want UNT to be good and to get their kids. DFW is the most picked over area in the USA. Coaches can fly in for a week and see 80-100 schools and hundreds of prospects. You can get pretty lazy and still find guys. Take the same kid move him to east Tx and he may get 2-3 offers compared to 10-12 or more in DFW. Again, I'd love to add kids with more offers as would everyone, but sometimes you offer kid X who has received non stop skills training etc in DFW and he has 5 offers. Take the same kid move him out to Tim buck two, not many trainers he flys under the radar for whatever reason, you sign him, then after he's developed he ends up being a higher ceiling player because he hasn't received all the private instruction. Yes i know in today's day and age that's more rare than not, but these guys found some absolute ballers late last year, so if they think a kid can play I'm giving the, benefit of the doubt. Yes I know it's less likely to work than "for sure multiple offer guys" but I'm willing to let them do their thing. They got me excited about UNT football again, after Dan ran us so far into the ground we still haven't dug ourselves out. -
Buddy and I were talking earlier, I think 20 wins is very doable. McCasland knows his bball and is coaching dudes up. I love the emphasis he's putting on defense.

Dr. Vingren (sp) would disagree learned in my exercise physiology class that just isn't the case. Blocked practice yields worse results than random practice. We discussed and there's some science behind shooting a few in front of FT line a few behind and a few in the FT line. Keeping it random. All you're working on is your form, just from a specific line. Anyway carry on.

DRC: Wylie high school coach talks about Jordan Hunt
GMG24 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I have the same thing about a kid. Regardless of school. So much goes into recruiting that sometimes kids are looked right past because they don't fit some stupid frame coaches have in mind. Coach we like him he said just a little to short, not long enough arms, blah blah blah. The kid can play and coaches won't take him back to their HC bc they know they're looking for a specific type of kid. Case in point, (yes I know he has 3 other offers) but Manase Mose if he was 6'3 he'd have 40 offers. But because he's 6'" all the big schools were scared away because of his reach and height. Stupid!! You got an OL where it's all about leverage I wouldn't take an OL over 6'4/ 6'5" I want them to get underneath DL and LB who most are no bigger than 6'3/6'4". I think we absolutely got a steal with This kid and several others. There isn't a recruit I haven't watched and not liked. Would I like them to have more offers absolutely, but if the tapes there and the kid can play I'm good with it. -
Arizona western, LA Valley, Blinn, Or Garden City all good. ASA should win for the show bc of the offense coach runs. Supposedly makes Baylor look slow.

I agree whole heartedly.
