  1. Short answer No. Long answer, if they can recruit the kids to run Chico's offense yes because he's so multiple if they can get a good OL group and RB to go out there they'll have a chance but it'll be a McCarney type 2013 team if they are.
  2. Trice wasn't going to play at OU, special teams guy for 2 years. Btw he's landed a coaching gig at. Mesquite Horn for those who care to follow
  3. BTW, I completely agree, I just want our casual fan to realize there isn't a reason besides (our coaches can't recruit) that guys chose elsewhere.
  4. Good things happen when you have a really good defense and your offense stays on the field for 5/6 minutes a drive gives defensive coaches time to make adjustments to what they’re trying to do
  5. Running game minus Wilson wasn’t awful, but our inability to complete balls in 1 on 1 situations and win those match ups that really killed us. Also I think you have to add a little bit of Qb run game on reads on the edges to bring another element to defense without Wilson. IMO
  6. If you compare our current facilities (remove Apogee) for a football program, its pretty embarrasing. Yes the new Indoor and expansions will help, but I don't think we are anywhere near where we need to be. I didn't put SMU in here because they have Money we could only dream of having, but their facilities blow ours away also. We don't have a big draw for a recruit. They have done a good job of renovating what they had previously no doubt, but we need the indoor and the other phases to be done ASAP and to be done top notch. Also look at our weight room/training room compared to these places also. More than just the nice stadium that we see, its where these kids spend 75-80 percent of their day.
  7. I've heard they're taking a different approach this spring. Took 1/2 to 3/4 their recruiting time to hit their area and schools within that area. The remaining time they were evaluating guys they had ranked highly at their position group. Which I really like.
  8. Mega Camp is in reference to the Number of Colleges represented not necessarily what colleges are present. As for who is showing up, it is 100% ok with me. Last year we had OU, Oregon, Rice and us. The kids who showed up at camp for OU or Oregon were likely encouraged to attend the camp so a coach could further evaluate them before offering. The kids who showed up for those schools lets be honest we have no shot at anyway. I wish people realized how far behind we are facilities wise even with most G5 programs. There are so many schools who have more to sell as a program than we do currently. Yes we are upgrading but those aren't done yet and it is a crutch. Is that the sole factor for why a kid goes somewhere? No, absolutely not BUT you are a 17/18 year old kid and you go from one campus who has facilities and support then you go to UNT where "It is being built" but you can't physically walk through it see it and be impressed its a hard sell. I am the first one who thinks we need to be better at recruiting, but the fact that a high 3 star multiple offers I think over 13 now, kid has committed here even if it is "for now" shows that they are putting in the work. I am ok with going after guys like Preston from Argyle who we probably don't have a snowballs chance in hell to land. BC for so long I have complained about not offering high profile guys locally and trying like crazy to land them. At some point it would be nice if that recruit would tell us hey thanks, but I am looking elsewhere. At that time we better have some other offers out to guys who can ball and not looking at our 6/7th ranked OL to replace him.
  9. Some people just wish they knew more than they did. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
  10. Last year Rice, OU, and another big time school we couldn't compete with for recruits. I have no problem with this. Also, I am not a fan of mega camps kids get lost in numbers (except the ones your school wants to see) they have certain numbers and already know who they're looking for.
  11. He just posted about his visit and it looked like a nice place to spend 4-5 years for sure. Can't be mad at him.
  12. Slot guy for UNT? I won't lie haven't peeped his tape
  13. McNeese impressed me most of all FCS schools this past cycle. Followed closely by Northwestern State. Both do a great job identifying talent. Did he have offers from any of those schools?
  14. Unfortunately in this day and age, any attention they get they LOVE. Even if it simple mailers they get from programs.
  15. Yah.. it's called evolving in recruiting game. I like it
  16. Lane called plays last year, and will again this year. He brought Briles in solely to learn the tempo side of the Baylor offense along with some passing game schemes. He had run game side of it covered and you saw that in plenty of their games, that wasn't the Baylor run game schemes FAU ran. An excellent collaboration between two very good offensive coaches (literally and figuratively).
  17. Good lord!!!! Guys, let's all just support the university and quit worrying about who got what, when, where. Donate because you want to, don't because you don't. But damn this silliness has to stop. We've got like 1,500 donors out of 300+ THOUSAND alum.... if 250,000 of our alum gave 25 bucks a year, that's 6.25 mil a year extra revenue... 25 freaking bucks
  18. For the life of me, I can't believe we didn't let Fine pull it more often... several times I think he doesn't stop until he bangs his head on the goal post. Hopefully we add that wrinkle this year.
  19. If you are able to, slow it down or pause as play develops, we have a hat for a hat and you can't ask for more than that from an OC standpoint. We saw something we liked about QB run game around the goal line that game bc we did it several times.
  20. No doubt that with more $$ comes higher expectations, however I would hate that we didn't land a kid because we couldn't do ______ or we had to limit what we did for them on their OV's because we had to stretch ______$ amount out over all the kids instead of feeling better about not holding back and going all out to make a kid/ their family feel at home.
  21. Yes we do. The mail you see kids posting about all the time, the stuff the big schools pump out in large volumes and mail out to who knows how many prospects. When you see kids getting 5/6 letters or more from a school think about that. The cost of envelope, materials, postage, wages for whoever is working on it. Coaches hotel rooms, gas, rentals, flights, meals. Hosting Official Visitors and their travel, hotels, food, etc. I am not sure how they break down all the stuff as far as the edits etc, that are made and sent out on social media (most recent is the billboard with the kids on it).
