  1. flex is dead in college basketball
  2. He has that 3-4" Hair going on up top., but when I saw him (last summer) I think he is legit 6'6 but who knows, give or take. I am going to try and make it to a Carter game this year, especially when play offs come around. It is hard to get to games when you coach as well.
  3. Ticky Tack fouls will be called for the remainder of College Basketball future until they change the rules. Two new rules put in play this year, you may not have hands on a defender who is in a straight line drive to the basket (thereby impeding their path). Rule number 2, once the low post player catches the ball and begins to dribble you may not interrupt their drive to the basketball with your hands. This is one of the biggest reasons you will see Benford and Co, go after 6'7-6'9 post players who are thiner, the rules play into their hands now. The big bodies can't get into smaller players anymore as they attack the rim down low. Interesting rule change, and I haven't personally seen it affect a game yet, I however have seen some much better basketball b/c defenders aren't allowed to commit felony assault on the ball handler.
  4. Andrew, I am not to sure. I personally think they are different types of college players. The comparison is a good one though because Jordan played inside out in HS and is now a wing type forward. Combs reminded me of Big Rog (Franklin) the first time I saw him. The amount of energy this kid plays with is pretty cool to watch. He is obviously from the picture no where near Rogers frame but it was the energy and passion for the game that I loved. I think Wesley will be more of a true Forward type (Roger) than Jordan or Combs are. Either way, I am pretty excited at the team we are putting together and stand corrected on Combs being All-State not All-American. I know he hasn't received votes yet, but to be in that list is DANG impressive.
  5. Jimmerson is more than capable of being a hammer when need be.

  7. Billy, You said Xavier Washington..Do you know something I've missed????
  8. I disagree that would get us ranked. I think if we beat UT they would spin it as new coach system garbage. I do think it would be awesome to beat them but I am not sure it would get the attention (for UNT) that it would get for negative attention on UT. Just my 2 cents.
  9. Also remember, he probably beefed up a tad to play DT for his team.
  10. He was on ST coverage units, and split time at D-end. He unfortunately went against one of the better OT's on the other squad. He seemed to have a hard time getting a bull rush when he doubled. He did impress me with his 1 on 1 moves against a dang good OT. The other team seemed to chip Xavier a lot with a TE or RB headed to the flats. That was shocking to me because on the other side from him was a DE/OLB going to Georgia who was dang good. Overall, he looked a tad out of shape (granted he probably hadn't played football since the state game or done much for that matter) but He hung with some of the best in the nation. I think he will come in and be an immediate impact player on Defense. Especially if he buys into coach Wintrich and does all that is asked of him in the weight room. I really hope we land this kid.
  11. Billy, Did you see Xavier running down on Kickoff? He even made a tackle.
  12. Andrew, again with your opinion, I forgot no one knows basketball like you. However, I am saying that Trey being on the team would allow Chris to slide over to the 2 instead of running the point. He was a scoring PG in HS and continued to be that in college. If you do not think CJ would be more of a threat for us on the wing than running PG you sir are mistaken. He thrives in the open floor if he isn't allowed to run and attack the rim then let someone else dribble it up the floor and let Chris attack the rim from a guard spot. He is a strong guard who can take and absorb contact.
  13. Not true. We had multiple fronts multiple formations and multiple tempo's this is all for 1 reason. Teams have no idea what to prepare for or where exactly to put their efforts into stopping. Canales will eventually find one of the tempos and formations/play types that work and wear said team out until they prove they can stop it. Don't believe me, look at how many stretch/reverse plays we ran against UNLV. They proved they could stop A-C gap runs, but not outside runs, so what did Canales do? Well I think anyone who was at the game or saw the game on TV can answer that.
  14. SMU won't get sanctions. Larry Brown does not have to do what he used to do anymore. He is a proven coach. Even with a sanction of 1 scholarship a year…they will be the best program in Texas in the next 3 years.
  15. Ok, so you are saying given that option right now as a PG who could be a true drive and dish PG and allow Chris to slide to 2 guard and be an attacking guard (which is what he is/does) you wouldn't take it. You would be crazy.
  16. Power 5 Conferences Big 12, SEC, Big 10, Pac 12 and ACC If I'm not mistaken
  17. Understood on wanting to hold off but the explosiveness and plays made in the biggest stage he could play on (state championship game) he dominated the Katy O-line all game long. He's probably not the first or last D1 player who the Allen Tackle will dominate that kid is salty as can be. That being said I'll stick with my defensive game changer statement until proven otherwise. I think he has the talent to be that for UNT. Only time will tell, Billy, when do Freshman get to report? July?
  18. haha. Well I suspect you don't watch much football or have any idea how to evaluate TALENT. The kid is a freak. If he was 6'3 he would be getting offers from dang near every P5 school. He could play for those schools now but they won't or haven't taken a chance on him yet. He would change our defense in a hurry if he signed.
  19. A guy I used to coach with used to be the TE coach at NT on one of those UT butt kicking games. He said to start the game one of UT's corner reached across the line and slapped the crap out of our best biggest WR. The WR looked at the ref and said what the ____? Ref just shrugged and chuckled. I hope their corner tries that this year, then when we run a little screen and Y'Barbo comes around the corner and knocks him into last year Y'Barbo helps him up and just smiles at him.
  20. Cooley, Smile, the sun is out. Stay positive, it will help life be more enjoyable.
