  1. I never said that it was a problem of this team, just asking if anyone noticed the same things I did. One particular athlete that comes to my mind was Ben Knox. Also if you don't think strength comes into play in College basketball you're a fool. If you are stronger than the player guarding you when they push you or put their hand on you it won't cause nearly the disruption of your drive or shot that it would if you were not as strong. See the times LSU came into town and bullied us inside. Yes Height counted for something but being able to physically dominate a game is a must.
  2. No sir, on Frat row, in Norman, that was right as you drove into campus, but at UNT I think it would be cool to have it in frat row. Have his football player guide drive him around campus and then happen upon the frat row and BOOM.
  3. He is a pretty powerful kid to be able to play both inside and outside gaps. He can also bullrush (most HS kids can't) at least use the move and make a play. I am impressed and I think he will be a Special Teams playmaker/pass rushing specialist next year.
  4. Agreed, I am a basketball coach first then a football coach (could be shot for saying that in TX) but, I do like attending games where I can watch and take stuff. I stole JJ's 4 up wheel set from years ago. My middle school kids think its so cool they run a "college" offense
  5. Good point. We follow rules unlike other DFW teams.
  6. I will disagree with you on this point Andrew. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is worse (for me) than bad basketball. I use to go to SMU games with my father-in-law, and I would be crawling in my skin. Now I thoroughly enjoy going to SMU games with him. They have some serious talent. GMG
  7. HOLLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome my young pass rushing friend. Trust Coach Wintrich and buy in and you sir could be a conference 1st team player in 2 years.
  8. Harry, any idea who to get in touch with about this topic?
  9. At least someone else noticed what I saw. I am by no means saying the Strength and Conditioning coach is to blame for our season or past seasons, I am just saying compared to other schools I have watched kids develop a lot quicker at other schools I follow than UNT. I love me some MeanGreen hoops too so don't take that the wrong way.
  10. I can't enjoy the ones we play poorly in…. guess thats the coach in me.
  11. Operation X get the FRATERNITIES INVOLVED!!!!! I remember my Freshman year at OU they had signs painted by frats hanging from frat houses welcoming "Malcolm Kelly" to SOONER NATION and he came to a then packed Loyd Nobel. Not that the Pit would be packed but dang that would be cool to see as a recruit that multiple fraternities or sororities, wanted X to become a MeanGreen football player!!!!!
  12. Harry, My friends have been told in more words, if he wants to take the job it will be his. So essentially it's his choice. I would like to see Chico get it and flourish. I am with the others wonder who Mac would go get. He seems to make good hires when position coaches leave but a Coordinator is much, much different.
  13. I heard Mel Tjeerdsma is pretty much a lock for the job if he wants it. (That is from within the Texas HS football coaches circle)
  14. I think that would be drinking weight if I had to guess, neither move like they used to (yes I know Chris got hurt)
  15. I am not saying that is a reason or anywhere near THE reason this season has gone the way it has. From observing our basketball program for the past 5 years, I don't think I can remember one player who improved physically so much that I said wow look at that guy, he is really a different player from last year. I probably shouldn't have said bring Wintrich over, but I think a Strength coach like Wintrich would sure benefit every program outside of football. Like Wintrich said in his episode of Beyond the Green anybody can come up with a workout that destroys kids and makes them puke (which anyone would dread). I am talking tangible evidence from year to year where you can look at a kid who came in undersized and added some weight and strength + speed and agility. Closely followed the basketball program the past 5 years. Been following longer than that but not close enough to critique anything.
  16. Not perception, but IMO if our basketball programs had a Wintrich type conditioning program things may have bounced a little different. I am from the old school opinion that your hard work rewards you with the "ball bouncing your way" instead of the woe is me type, you find a way to make it work because of how hard you worked. I am not saying these student athletes are not working hard, please don't hear that. Just think the fine work Coach Wintrich has done in the football program could really go a long way in other sports.
  17. UGH. Find a way to get Wintrich into the basketball program as well. Even if he isn't present everyday. Maybe one of his minions in training could take over but surely you can't look at the previous years of teams and development of players compared to the Wintrich training and be happy with the results.
  18. Anyword on beer sales in the stadium and how far away we are from that? Went to another SMU game at 6 pm on a weeknight and it was over half capacity guaranteed 3/4 were there strictly for beer.
  19. Does Frank Wintrich work with all of North Texas Athletes or is he strictly used for Football? If he is not used, who is in charge of strength and conditioning program that Mens Basketball goes through? Does anyone else think there is a legitimate reason why the Athletic Administration wouldn't get Wintrich to work with all the athletes?
  20. Kaho is on our Football Performance Facebook page and received high marks from Wintrich's crew for his workout Friday. I am really looking forward to the D-line performance next year. I believe between Wintrich and our new coach we will see some great stuff next year.
  21. How about the missed Dunks/lay ups…make those and this conversation isn't happening. No one play can lose the game, late game situations can stand out more than normal situations but I find it very hard to believe that UNT played perfect the other 39 minutes and change.
  22. MeanGreenCoach I see you learned how to spell like most athletes as well.
  23. Zach Orr is on the Reese's Senior bowl watch list but not on the roster or accepted invites list. He is the only one on that list from UNT. http://www.seniorbowl.com/watch-list-profiles.php?position=&conference=&s_id=68
  24. That is fine, and if he waits to long and that happens then it is a decision he will have to live with. I like the early signing period idea, it works well for basketball. If the recruit decides to make that decision, then it takes some pressure off and allows coaches to pursue other recruits. I did see a Fonzale Davis and Tee Goree Tweet back to Carlos Harris about starting meetings and working for next year. Pretty cool, I think they're pretty solid commits.
  25. I love how everyone acts like this is such an easy decision. This kid will have to spend all 4 or 5 years playing wherever he decides to go. He still has lots of official visits left. Let the kid take his time and make a GOOD decision for him, his education, and his family.
