  1. Well, Canales is just now hitting the road recruiting, other coaches have now been out for a week, or more I am not sure the exact start date. That is rather telling in and of itself.
  2. https://mobile.twitter.com/coachcanales/status/597734858446606337 There are too many good players so close to home we aren't getting, bc we want to throw offers at guys who have sec big 10 and big 12 offers...
  3. It aint about X's and O's it is about JOHNNY'S AND JOE'S
  4. I am giving to girls basketball no doubt, Jalie is exactly what I want in a HC for the following sports, ALL OF THEM.... Young, active on social media, and having a great presence about her. GMG
  5. Let me clarify, he has not been by this year, and stopped by twice the previous year, during winter and once in spring. He let 3 different players go to Navy, again, not saying they are UNT guys for sure or not, but to not even offer the chance of playing at home... Idk Names: Class of '14 Bryan Hammond one of the top rushers in the area in '13 graduated '14 signed with Navy Justin Jennings signed with Iowa no NT offer Class of '15 Myles Benning FB/RB first year playing the position moved from QG (had to play out of necessity his Jr. year) and DT, projects to LB, FB in college signed with Navy no NT offer David Shin projects as a guard at D1 level no NT offer, signed with Navy I am a homer for sure, for both NT and TC, I've only been there two years, but there have been several as listed here misses IMO that UNT didn't even take a swing at and miss. Of those 4 two would have been for sure hits in my eyes, and two could go either way. Just a little disappointing that no offers were put out to local kids
  6. Kyle had a jacked up thumb only played 4 district games (first year as a corner) covered Deandre McNeal UT signee from Poteet and gave him some fits with his length. Chris Green played backup QB and only practiced WR bc only other QB was a freshman Jemel Jones who I think needs to be talked to also early, only a sophomore, so time will tell, he's an undersized QB but he has a flamethrower for a right arm.
  7. I think it would be really nice to know who has what grounds, found out yesterday that Canales is the one who comes by The Colony. There's a 6'4" corner (Kyle Covington) and a 6'3" receiver (Chris Green) who are going to be seniors who are probably going to blow up, or not depending on their senior season, perfect guys to get in on as they didn't have crazy good jr years, but athletically are what you look for specifically at CUSA level. Has Canales even stopped by, nope. Oh there is also a sophomore defensive end, Peter Kimani watch out, if he continues to develop could be a monster, 6'2" 220 and growing. Just trying to find something to talk about during off season. Cheers.
  8. #73... Wonder if he has some sort of academic or other troubles has no offers and that kid can really play watched him play several times this year.
  9. Interesting, thanks Cooley!! Maybe I'll video a little of the game
  10. Site says 7pm, once you try to buy tickets it says 9 pm I would assume it would be 7 pm. I could not find any info for those others on an offer, and when I asked Hebron's coach he said UNT never offered. Interesting thanks for clarifying!
  11. seriously? He wants Jucos, prep kids, and a HS kid or two max. I think he's backwards in his strategy but who am I? I say 4 hs kids 1 JUCO or transfer, or in a normal year 3 hs kids 1 juco or transfer
  12. Kids IMO we should have offered even though I know it goes against tony's recruiting strategies. 1. Lasani Johnson 2. Tyler Williams (had close to 7 offers at one point, sat on one from Washington state too long waiting for big12 and lost the spot) 3. Ryan Woolridge 4. Possibly Olin Carter/ Jalon Anderson Never seen 3,4/5 play, seen 1 and 2 and with the BS we have put on the floor the past two season, there's 0 excuse these top 2 weren't offered ZERO
  13. Cooley, wanna go? Like to see Brice vs this competition. Also can't believe the amount of names on this list we didn't even offer. Are you kidding? We let Lasani Johnson go to SFA?? Good lord.
  14. Chris Miles, oh wait, he's gotta stay for 3 years... ok I'll go with the recently moved corner, Jamal Marshall, only because he has the measurables. He is going to need to put a lot of good tape out there for him to have a shot. There are not many corners with his size at 6'3" 205 lbs. I think I read somewhere he was the fastest on the team as well??
  15. Yes smu picks up an elite 11 QB.. It's SOOO hard to recruit to Denton BS
  16. That would allow donors to hold AD and staff accountable are you sure we want that?? ;-)
  17. Bottom line is our corners were burned entirely too many times, sure the bottom 10-12 comment was unfair, but they were pretty piss poor most nights, each finished with 50 tackles or so, a few picks and I think jones had a few fumble recoveries, theres your 2nd team all c-usa numbers..
  18. apples and oranges.
  19. You never know with kids like this. Even the kid from Richardson who is a 7 footer I think we should be all over. Big lanky, slow moving, but you can't teach 7 feet. You can add weight, and strength. He has a good shot, rebounds well, and passes extremely well for how tall he is. He does get pushed around a ton and if he weighed more than 180 pounds it is only because he has so much bone weight. I would like to see UNT get in on him before he blows up (if he does).
  20. coverage sack can happen in any package, may be more frequent in nickel but sounds good, keep making excuses. Bottom line is our corners were not good or even average. They were probably bottom 10-12 corners in all of our league if you were to rank them all out that isn't average.
  21. I am not ignoring that at all, as they should come up and make the tackles, and being 8 yards off starting in a shuffle shuffle run which they do, triggering on a quick pass and coming up does not affect them allowing guys to run right by them for TD's. Yes, the DL pressure was terrible, sure the QB had the ball a long time but it does not matter, just bc the DL doesn't do their job doesn't make it an excuse for the secondary to let people run by them. I don't buy that and never will, however, I do know it makes it very very tough, but get a coverage sack. Cover the receivers so well that the DL has forever to get there since that is what they need.
  22. Yes I am, they may be concerned with the run and making tackles, but there job is to not allow anything to get behind them. What is behind them if they get burned? The GOAL is to NEVER get beat deep, sure it may happen, but the amount of time he was burned last year along with Jones is RIDICULOUS. D1, HS, Pro, MS, PeeWee. If your job is to do something and you don't do it, its not average, its far below. Everything about last year was below average to pathetic, thus the records reflection. The DB should always be on the top side of the receiver so as to never get beat deep, that may be on a 5 yard hitch, or a 22 yard post. You are on their "top side" that way if they do catch it you can make a tackle and eliminate YAC. I understand that this will not happen every time, but the amount of times there was a receiver 4-5 yards behind one of our members of the secondary was ridiculous, particularly when we play 8 yards off. If you think thats average by all means keep thinking that, I am just telling you that it is completely ridiculous to call that effort last year AVERAGE. Aldo, I only said Buyers b/c he was a captain and a leader, but yes they both allowed entirely too many balls behind them. That is all. Carry on
  23. db's should never get beat DEEP, they have 1 job and that is no one behind you, now if someone catches in front makes a move and goes by fine, but to allow someone behind you is in excusable, and I coach secondary so I can say that. You really think the corner spot was average last year? EDIT: Did not realize it only said never get beat, it should have said deep
  24. I'd prefer he lead by example and not continuously get beat by a deep post or crossing route when the QB goes away and that's your receivers only option....
