MGB: Today's DRC editorial on the state of UNT athletics
GMG24 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
You are amazing..... Those players led our 2013 team to a bowl win, remove those guys and we have another McCarney type 3-4 win season. You wanna take Macs big rough and tough recruits and I'll take those two dodge classes and we can see who wins? Please be serious, I understand you aren't happy but The 2009 and 2010 classes were pretty solid classes (2010 only HS obviously) I really was interested to see what Dodge did in 2010, but losing 17 starters in 4 games (again thanks RV's schedule) we had no chance. -

Check out his 2009/2010 classes. Pretty easy to see why we were successful that year. -

Umm... 2013 was his last recruits, which was quite awhile after he was fired so it definitely wasn't his first class. This place is NOT hard to recruit to, McCarney misspoke. It is hard to recruit kids to play in an offense that is stuck in the Pre-Forward pass time of the sport of football. Kids all run spread stuff and mostly tempo at the HS level, who would want to come here and block for 50 plays a game and maybe have a chance at 20-25 passes a game?? That means they may have 3-5 targets MAYBE. No kid who is worth their weight in salt, (unless unrecruited) would want to do that. That is a fact of life. We could easily have done what Auburn has done offensively still a Power run team but do it out of pistol or gun. It is not different at all but it allows you to do it out of 4 WR essentially clearing the box. Heck, I am a MS coach and every team we play now is spread. It is difficult to defend, and easy to coach. -
MGB: Sounds like Smith is going to get his shot

Coach believes 2:1 with 1 Rushing -
Unfortunately I have a HS football game to be at Thursday evening, but I am recording the game and will be watching. Sorry I can't make it out and GMG
-
yes do you know who Scott Cross is!? He was interested and never got an interview.
-
there's a ton of smart people in the coaching wolrd who know if they turn us around, they get a biiiiiiiig pay raise and go P5. Every coach that I run into asks how we haven't been successful and mention our incredible stadium and how nice it is. It's time we wake this sleeping giant up.

MGB: UNT women picked to finish last in C-USA
GMG24 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I see what you did there. AND I LIKE IT!! -
as recruiting coordinator and position coach? Hell yes.
-
Tom Westerberg Allen HS, recruiting coordinator QB coach, what say you? Tons of local and national ties. Give him a chance.
-
Tom Westerberg, Allen HS bring him on staff as recruiting coordinator. Hell thats all he's done at A-town he's pretty good at it and has tons of local ties. What say you??

Gulp lol
-
KP I do believe
-
Man... He looked very promising. Thanks for the info.
-
I'm not sure where my brain was. I knew that because he and Tee both redshirted. I wonder if we see him more now to try and get some rhythm offensively. Whatever happened to Daniel Khan? He looked great in spring game

I may get obliterated on this question...
GMG24 replied to Tyler Maryak's topic in Mean Green Football
This. That is all. I like chicos offense when he isn't hand cuffed, but this is my reason for not wanting him back. -
Has he played this year or are we red shirting him? If not I'd love to see he, goree and smith get in a rhythm offensively to build for next year. I don't recall him playing this year but I have been wrong before. Any help would be appreciated. What are your thoughts on him playing?

Coach Canales 1st UNT Press Conference (Periscope)
GMG24 replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
Periscope had it up, love what I heard from him. Didn't take the bait and bash Mac, talked about it being a decision to lock arms and play for each other and the university. Wants to allow d. Smith to use his talent and stretch the field vertically, and said Smith mis called 5-6 plays vs southern Miss and showed better ability Saturday to change plays and get us lined up correct. Open, honest and fired up. I will definitely be tuning in Thursday night, may even make the drive up. -
After watching the mauling we took yesterday, I think he should be given an interview. Can an you look up their AD? He has obviously had a ton of good hires stolen away by bigger schools... Hmmmmm

MGB: Sounds like Smith is going to get his shot
GMG24 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I remember how wide open he was when TD left.... Oh wait, lol it was the same stuff. I liked it then, I like it now. Get the ball into Tee, Wilson, Ivory, Smith, and Harris' hands and see what happens. -
Ahh so why wouldn't this man be gone too? He is more of the problem than any of these firings.
-
Yall do know who is in charge of recruiting metroplex right?? Chico, hasn't been by more than once each year I've been in The Colony. We sent several kids to Navy and UNT never even sniffed. Bah humbug.
-
and who hired said coaches?
-
that's what I'm saying let the new guy make that decision
-
you really want to fire KP and Perry? Two of the best recruiters and hardest workers we have.
