  1. or coaching what he has, use Smiths strengths, we all agree are RUNNING, and the deep ball, use he and the RB as running read options, with the ability to pull it and sling it 40 yards down field. Keeps safeties occupied, makes them stay out of the box, keeps numbers game simple. Auburn did the same thing (IM NOT COMPARING HIM TO CAM NEWTON) with Cam Newton, run pass option every time, while running the zone-read with the RB. It's a lethal combination.
  2. that was when he was bringing them in on Track scholly's to play Football right? Don't like the violation, but I'm in agreement at least he knows 1. What that player looks like, and 2. Develops them into the NFL prospect.
  3. read this article, then let me know if you would switch his accomplishments with our previous two HC's? The guy is from West, Tx. Has ties out there from Tech days, has ties over DFW from ASU, the TVCC HC has him listed as a professional reference (winner has winner as reference). I am just not seeing how you could so adamantly oppose this guy? All he has done is win, also he ran the Tech program before their bowl game vs Minnesota not exactly the easiest time to take over. http://www.thesundevils.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30300&ATCLID=208250646 sorry forgot the link. The guy is accomplished, he has spent times at major programs and learned from some good HCs. If Riley isn't an option I see no reason for giving him a look.
  4. No, that was a statement. The counterpoint came after that.
  5. you can't post without going on a tirade. How old are you? Someone makes a counterpoint and there you go flying off the handle. Take a chill pill man life ain't that serious. Btw, how do these "wrinkly old nutsacks" do so well in college hoops surely they have to relate to players?? Hmmm your logic is off base. One doesn't have to be young to relate just willing to do things different. Chico ain't exactly in his prime, yet, the players would run into a flaming pile of wood with a squirt gun for him. Why? Because he relates, he has energy, and is creative. Get it?? You don't have to run around screaming F the world, and Get the F out, and Kiss my a if people's opinions are different from yours. There are PLENTY of great football minds who think this guy is more than ready to be our HC. I trust their knowledge of the game far more than yours. Sorry.
  6. then go ride Toledo's jock. For every young hire there are 10 that don't work. He is one who did. 9-4 and a few games that went either way and you're looking at a coach who isn't "successful". He has done some good things but let's not sit here and pretend just because you hire a young offensive minded HC that you'll be successful. You know it isn't true and it's getting tiresome reading your same point over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.
  7. how has his amazing recruiting classes turned out for him? Give it a rest.
  8. your opinion can be validated. Have a buddy pretty high up in coaching world thinks the world of him says he and NT would be a great fit and thinks he could be more than successful here!
  9. T-Rob from Keller Central called me. Seemed scripted and you could tell he was a bit nervous but very cool nonetheless!
  10. why? you wouldn't wanna be set up for the rest of your life and help your family be set up for success?? TRS allows you to retire on your highest 5 paid years of income during your tenure. If you could retire on an average of 1-1.5 mil? I would be all over that.
  11. I am thinking more Boykin at TCU, remember how horrid he was his first year? With better improvement the 2nd year, and finally exploding onto the scene in year 3. Now I understand Boykin was a freshman, but what kind of mechanical coaching do you think Mr. Smith received at his Juco? I would be willing to guess not much at all, formed a TON of bad habits. I also don't think based on what I have read that Mr. Smith's parents had tons of money to send him to QB camps and schools to work on his mechanics and knowledge of the game. I truly believe he will improve drastically over the spring and fall. Call me a homer, but that is why I see his potential to improve. He has the arm strength, to make EVERY throw he needs to make. What say you?
  12. you cray, quit being such a Debbie downer, Coach.
  13. Lets argue to argue.
  14. I agree 1000% Chico could turn us around
  15. what the heck.... Why even play him?? If he ain't playing every down?
  16. exactly, I packed up and headed home after our first possession in the third quarter, we both stunk and that's fact.
  17. it was the other young man who lost his life they were also close friends ( from what I gathered)
  18. tap the brakes on safety coach. GA absolutely, but this guy screwed up plenty and took garbage angles often. His passion and energy would be an asset but only as a GA. He has a lot to learn, and we saw what happened the last time we brought in under qualified position coaches and coordinators.
  19. if overturned which by all accounts it will be, he will be able to play. If not he's done for the first half.
  20. if anyone hasn't seen chico's post game locker room speech GO WATCH IT. He has those kids believing and playing hard for him.... I'm impressed and I am starting to question why he didn't get a shot at being the HC. Please go watch the video on Periscope those kids respond to him. Yes what has D Smith had now a total of 8 practices in 3 weeks? Hasn't had the easiest road, but definitely needs to make the most of this weeks practice. La Tech will score at will on us and we will have no room for error on offense. It'll have to be score for score.
  21. This ban was a joke, plenty of these guys were all over Twitter.
  22. My guess was 8
  23. Da. Smith trying to make a sportscenter play instead of a smart play. But hey it's exciting right?
  24. I think we should make it the billboard that has academy on it right now as you come into campus. Or the one by whataburger on 377. Those would do.
