I heard when they get a sack Sean Kingston's song is going to come on (Somebody call 9-11) lol Ok I'll retire to mowing my yard. 🤪

I know FWISD for sure is still in school for another 2 weeks, wonder if he is in the same boat.

Last time I heard anything about it, the plan was to bring the AC all the way up to where the scoreboard is currently, and have some sort of Doubled weight room/Training room, and locker room, where the coaches area on the 3rd floor would be the last to be renovated/expanded but who knows what has changed since then. I had two semi-disappointing takeaways from that conversation. 1 Baseball is no where in the future plans we could be so good so quick with a baseball program. Most baseball scholarships are between 1/4 1/3 unless you are really good like draft pick type good then you may get 60-75% thrown your way. Take a look at the other schools in metroplex, DBU a kid gets a 1/3 they're still paying 25 grand easily, TCU 35 grand. UNT you're well under 20 grand for a 1/3 scholarship and that doesn't include academics. The 2nd I wouldn't say disappointing thing was the plan to renovate and update the softball complex before baseball is even brought up. Edit: 11.7 total Scholarships per team. SO 35/36 of the guys can be on a 1/3 scholarship and you can rock and roll, or you want to do less and you take a higher tier kid on 40% and a lesser tier kid only gets 20% instead. It is a numbers game, but with the schools in the metroplex that you would be recruiting from, that $ isn't totally crazy for college baseball AND their families can come to lots of games which seems to be a bigger deal than cost or location in the baseball world (WS level elite teams excluded)

Athlon projects the best of the C-USA for 2021
GMG24 replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
Well in the past that was probably the case, but those magazines and companies change and adapt with times just like everything else. They now offer digital copies, they had a 1 hour phone call with Littrell last week sometime or maybe the week prior about the team and the upcoming season. Those guys have to change with all the things the Portal (Transfers in and out), JUCO, and late hs signees due to spots opening up. I would be very surprised if this years article on us was too far off.- 7 replies

@BillySee58 One thing I've noticed in talking with a lot of the college guys is it doesn't seem to be an issue at UNT only. The Freshman classes at all Universities have backlogged badly. Kids that signed 3 classes ago, RS year, played, COVID year, still RS Soph by eligibility but SR in school this upcoming season. Kids that signed 2 classes ago, Redshirted, COVID year, now they are RS Freshman still but JR in school this upcoming season. Kids that signed last class, COVID Year, still have a RS, and are still a Freshman on the roster but will be Soph in school this upcoming season. Kids that signed this class, Freshman. 3 classes of signees that will be some form of Freshman eligibility and you are looking at a roster nightmare at some point. I believe the NCAA will have to come out and make some kind of amendments to the roster limits and scholarship numbers.

The offense is going to be nasty, need the defense to resemble 11 guys that have a semi desire to stop the other team from Scoring and I think we can be right back at the top of the conference dependent upon QB play.

At some point, you also need to look at the school the kids are coming from. The Stars and offer lists are indicators of ability, talent, and projectibility. Typically the higher the rating the more exposure they got at camps etc on top of which schools offered. The kid went to Georgia who can go out and get a kid as good or better than him every single year and not bat an eye. The kid had a tough road to battle just to get on the field! What I am more impressed with is the fact that in 3 years the kid graduated (while not getting to play the sport that he has been the best at, on whatever team he played on his entire life). I have no doubt he will come in and be a guy for us. He is the perfect example of why the portal can be beneficial to G5 schools. Get a kid who would never consider UNT out of HS, who has the talent to help you win games after they don't get to play at whatever school they originally decided on.

Only reason I say that is most FCS have already got their guy. Could there be a school out there? Sure, but if you start at the level below that and start raking up offers the schools that may still be looking will notice, if you seek out nothing but FCS then you miss out, well now those D2's and below have all got their guy and are full.

D2 or below. Get his fafsa filled out and all of his information start blasting on twitter with all of his information.

Yup 2 special teams TDs usually lose you ball games. That was a fun game to watch.
-
They’ll beat them by 28
-
Why? They’re all on vacation until after the 1st

Not totally sure, I believe he was part of their 2018 signing class. I believe he may have 4 years. SMU is doing it the right way, stack up talent....if someone leaves it is ok because you have more on the way, or you bring one in. Same thing Utah did, got 2 transfer QB's one is your guy the other is either a solid back up or leaves.
-
That kid may not be ready, mordecai stop gap, let Parish kid RS and boom you get 4 years with him and Mordecai gets you through this year
-
I completely agree, the last 3 signing classes should NOT have yielded us one of the worst defenses in the country. If our defense is just AVERAGE we win 4 more games, and probably the bowl game. I agree with you.

DL- Colvin (R-SR), Novil (SR), Dotson (R-FR), Rausaw (FR), Pickett (FR), LeBlanc (R-SO) Murphy Twins (RS FR) Believe they got moved to some DL at one point in the season, Devontae McCrae (RS SO) LB- KD Davis (JR), Tyreke Davis (SR), Jordan Brown (FR), Kevin Wood (SO) Larry Nixon (SO), Taylor Jacobs (RS FR) my favorite but didn't see much action Jacobi Johnson (FR) DB- Upton Stout (FR), Deshawn Gaddie (RS FR) Cam Johnson (SR) Alex Morris (JR) Gibbs (SO) The DB room is the most concerning to me, I believe we had multiple DB's opt out bc of COVID, the group is not deep but there is definite skill there, add on the pieces we signed and this defense is not as bad as what was put on the field this year. Being asked to do what some of those guys were asked to do vs Power teams was unfair IMO. I also feel like we need to know pretty quick which Seniors will stay and use the extra year and which ones are going to graduate and move onto the working world. That would also sway where and how I look. Offensively I would use a transfer on a QB, maybe 1/2 Max OL, the rest DB/OLB types What do you think?

That is exactly what that offense is designed to do, wear you down to the point where you can be completely physically dominated. When your offense aint doing much but a first down and a punt then its tough to every recover and be ready to go out there and have 1/2 320 pound dudes lean on you and maul you. We absolutely need to get bigger, faster, and stronger but that means they gotta let the S&C staff do their job and push these guys to the max.
-
Just about everyone of them. Whitlock would be gone for me, but when Stout was healthy he did not play. So I'll go position by position DL- Colvin (R-SR), Novil (SR), Dotson (R-FR), Rausaw (FR), Pickett (FR), LeBlanc (R-SO) Murphy Twins (RS FR) Believe they got moved to some DL at one point in the season, Devontae McCrae (RS SO) LB- KD Davis (JR), Tyreke Davis (SR), Jordan Brown (FR), Kevin Wood (SO) Larry Nixon (SO), Taylor Jacobs (RS FR) my favorite but didn't see much action Jacobi Johnson (FR) DB- Upton Stout (FR), Deshawn Gaddie (RS FR) Cam Johnson (SR) Alex Morris (JR) Gibbs (SO) The DB room is the most concerning to me, I believe we had multiple DB's opt out bc of COVID, the group is not deep but there is definite skill there, add on the pieces we signed and this defense is not as bad as what was put on the field this year. Being asked to do what some of those guys were asked to do vs Power teams was unfair IMO.

Yup. LOL in college football it is just in one big video bank I believe so you can watch anyone's at anytime. At least by conference for sure, but I think they can also access other conferences as well. Playing a team like that you have to bring a 4th "Rusher" even if it is an OLB blitzing off the edge something to help offset the fact that the TE creates an extra gap. We will see where we go from here, but I am all about 4 DL with their hands in the dirt unless you're going to be willing to blitz 1 LB, preferably the OLB, everytime to create a 4th rusher.

Remember that one time that Nick Starkel was in the transfer portal.... the kid we offered out of HS who chose A&M late over us.... then we didn't even call to see if he'd be interested. Yah me too!!! He just led San Jose State to a Conf Championship and a 9 win season.... Either 1 man or too many men who let their pride get in the way!! Who cares if he chose another school, a bigger school, look at SMU. You made a bad choice (what 17-19 year old kid makes perfect decisions) it is ok welcome home!! We are ready for you to be back. Look at SMU's transfers and look how many they originally offered out of HS. 🤔

It was a simple stretch play, instead of staying gap sound (which did a phenomenal job of under skladany) our guys turned and took off hauling balls to the sideline, leaving a massive cutback lane. So while it looked like the run hit inside it was designed to hit off tackle and bounce outside. Another problem with only having 3 down and not bringing extra pressure.... That allows two of those OL to either Double a DL or climb immediately to a much smaller LB. Side note, a former player of mine who plays in the SBC said that is their bread and butter play. Said they run it left and right until the cows come home then play action off of it. He said the issues we had with it everyone did, because if you don't get force it back inside they hit the edge and he's gone, over run it and well.... Yall saw what happens.

Has nothing to do with getting admitted to Tech, has everything to do with qualifying academically per the ncaa standard.
