  1. I would hardly say scoffing at the issue is what's being done. They've made several hits illegal and ejectable elements in the game. They penalize, and coaches spend hours teaching proper technique (which is also beginning to change) to take the head out of tackling. See Seahawks Hawk tackling videos. I just get tired of hearing how unsafe a sport is, sure it's unsafe every sport is in their own way. Soccer headers and head butting going for headers, basketball dunking on someone and being hit while in the air, baseball getting pinked with a 98 mph fastball in the head or line drive off the face. Anyway, there are many steps being taken (costly steps) my school district bought 15,000 dollars worth of brand new helmets for my school and we are one of 15 MS in that district. They did this because they found out there were hundreds of unsafe helmets being used throughout the district.
  2. We need to have a coaches section on here where we can get on and chat. Network and look out for each other like the Boys from CS.
  3. I think the concussion issue is very sensitive. I had Docs writing notes for concussions this past year just because they don't want to be sued. Kids that I have coached in my 8 years now, 1 has had a concussion where he didn't know where he was etc, it was scary for sure. I think this issue has been semi sensationalized and while I know it's very important and can have lasting effects if my children want to play a sport I'm going to let them. Part of that is possibility of getting hurt etc. I'm a rant so I'll stop. Just don't jump to conclusions that football is the only sport dealing with them, last study I saw soccer lead the nation in all Lvls of the sport.
  4. Yes, and those games (TCU) actually go through their allotment rather quick. They usually open the coaches portal at 8 or 9 am, and by 9:30 tickets gone (for big games)
  5. Good to know, maybe it will get fixed. I am going to tweet Littrell about it maybe that'll help. Mark. I love the free tickets it makes getting to the games much more doable on what we make. However, I am talking about the 1,000's of other coaches in the area who would probably come to games if they could have the same process as most every university who has football in this state. Coaches can make time for what they want, but they also typically don't have a ton of free time and when they can log onto a website and click a few buttons and be done grabbing tickets in a few minutes (During the busiest time of the year for most coaches) it makes that process a little more free-flowing. I am just telling you complaints I have heard and experienced first hand. As I stated above I don't mind doing it because they are free, but if you are wanting to IMPROVE HS COACHES RELATIONSHIPS you may want to make the interactions they have with your University positive pleasant and memorable in a good way. it is suppose to be a perk of coaching. You can't bring your players with you. I take my wife and we spend time together at our University. Friends go to watch good college football game. I guess it is like allowing businessmen or women to write off lunches for business meetings. That's the closest comparison I can come up with.
  6. I will give credit where credit is due. During the OU WVU game in a commercial break there pops up UNT mens hoops commercial featuring Jeremy Combs. Good job!

  7. Keep looking, let me know when you find it lol
  8. That is an understood common practice. It's called professional courtesy. You DONT take free tickets then cheer for the opposing team. I've gone to several games and worn the schools colors, but inside my head root for the opposing team. NEVER out loud it really is just common sense.
  9. I just don't get why it's so hard to just be decent at running an athletic office... Blah. do those schools contact you after you get tickets to let you know where to go and pick up your tickets?
  10. So long as they meet whatever state or governing body of that school mandates (typically schools follow nfhs guidelines) the kids can wear whatever helmet they want. In TX it has to be certified and tested to meet requirements. Lot of levels to what is the minimum requirement.
  11. Yeah that and some slot I saw, just thought he had some juice and would make more plays for them. Did you even entertain him being our QB at all? I did only bc I couldn't see it being worse than the other jokers we had.
  12. I have a pretty easy start. Our website sucks, there's way to much going on and it is quite difficult to find the right link to click if you don't know exactly where you are going. My proposal is to have a giant button (NT colors of course) that says HIGH SCHOOL COACHES. They click the button input their coaching membership information and get immediately set up for two tickets to the game. It's not very difficult but goes a long way when coaches are very busy during season to save time and is much appreciated. Our process is to drawn out, call the ticket office ask about coaching tickets get transferred sit on hold, it's really a giant beat down. I know this may not seem like a lot but I'm a MG fan through and through and this process drives ME nuts, however I do it because I'm going to the game anyway. 2nd thing once they've done this I would even look at having yard signs made that says Coaches/Recruits this way. First time I tried getting in got sent to 2 wrong gates, 3rd one after walking around apogee was the right one. I promise these things matter.
  13. Dude, I don't remember seeing much des white at TCU has he done much? I sure would like to see what he could do running an offense.
  14. For the love. Can we get these kids to quit putting pics o DMAC up, wait that should be something that's done by the AD. Making sure your first pictures or links to pop are what you want. Yes it costs but it's worth it! People said the same thing about both Orr brothers and both have been busy making plays since they stepped on campus.
  15. Just meant unless he walks on somewhere or chooses Alcorn he will be done playing football thus no more developing. Not that I mean his talent level is maxed.
  16. No, no no no no no no no no no
  17. Speed is one point, but hips, start stop, one step plants etc have much more to do with success at safety than outright speed.
  18. I bought one similar at the Rally House in Flower Mound. The one he is wearing looks like a bit different than mine.
  19. Yep sure am, just had a crazy situaton at school got my brain a bit frazzled. Thanks. lol To reach for Fitzgerald is also a tad silly but not completely out of the realm. Dude has like 20 offers. That would be a MASSIVE pull for Littrell.
  20. His 247 shows 5'11 I really dont care much about that as I do him making plays plugging gaps and flying to the ball. He is a SR so he won't develop anymore unless he choses Alcorn which is his only reported offer so far. His first play on film was a for sure Eye grabber.
  21. Tap them on Fitzgerald. Dude is one of the top TE in the NATION. Allen triple teamed him and he still nearly beat them. This kid is a freak. Would I love to see him here sure! But, he is the type of kid who goes wherever he wants and plays quickly anyway.
  22. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2967424/troy-burnett Only shows an Alcorn offer. Not Zach Orr level but an undersized LB who is flying way under the radar, all District 23-5a playing against some top teams and eventual State Champion George Ranch. Worth a look for sure.
  23. Which I definitely get, but if thats the case he better be on special teams galore and playing not just no red shirt and getting 2-3 snaps a game. I hardly remember seeing him out there. Just my opinion.. which aint worth much lol
  24. To bad they burned McNair's redshirt last year. such stupidity.
