  1. In general, just because it's a college in Denton that isn't UNT. Also, I'm not convinced that it is a real school, and not just an experiment into how many people you can shove inside those ridiculously huge towers.
  2. I'm loathe to give TWU that kind of legitimacy.
  3. I think that very few people who actually venture into Denton think that it is unremarkable. I think it's remarkably great. My father thinks it is remarkably awful. But it's definitely something.
  4. UTSA, every day of the week and twice on Saturdays.
  5. I similarly desire the same kind of validation. I couldn't get my father to come to one UNT game last year, despite how well UNT was doing.
  6. I'm a huge Cowboys fan, but the most exciting part of the season was that breakout run Dunbar had on Thanksgiving.
  7. Uggggggggghhhhhhhh. I can't catch a break with my wife's dumb teams.
  8. My mom let me know over the weekend that she scored tickets for me and my UT grad stepfather to attend the game. I'm really excited, but I'm still not growing a beard. Besides, it's on the home side, so as the single point of green in a sea of burnt orange, a beard that angry UTers can grab sounds like a liability if I have to kung-fu my way out.
  9. Three wonderful cats, but technically, my wife had two of them before I met her.
  10. True, but I'm the guy that accuses my cats of hating America because they are a Siamese, a Bombay, and a Russian Blue. Maybe I just assume everyone else is the same.
  11. Well sure, but it doesn't change that fact that I would prefer to play Academy-affiliated teams in non-military related bowls or on days other than those related to strong patriotic feeling.
  12. No need to be snippy. I just don't want to be the Middle Tennessee of the last bowl season. Not only losing by alot, but everyone hates you because you are playing against America....
  13. I don't know. Whenever you play one of the military academies on a National Holiday or a military/armed forces related bowl, and you're not the service academy, you're automatically the "bad guy". Even if people don't have an opinion at that particular school/team, a non-affiliated fan is going to root for the academy.
  14. This is the other thing I dislike about baseball. We all whine when our favorite sport isn't on, but I don't feel like Baseball fans have much room to complain. Atleast 160 games, even if you don't make the playoffs. Baseball season goes from what, March to November? You know what I would call my favorite Football teams playing 160 games and a season that goes for 8-9 months? Heaven.
  15. Ha! Thanks. It's not as impressive as it sounds. I graduated with my BA in History in December 2011, realized that I wasn't going to find lucrative employment, and then came back August 2012 for my BS in Emergency Management, graduating a year later in August 2013. Pretty much all of my basics transferred, meaning I only had to take about a year worth of the EM-specific classes. Having about a year left on my GI Bill helped to.
  16. I graduated with my first bachelors in 2011, and my second in 2013.
  17. This guy gets it.
  18. Oh sure, sure. You're going to be super proud of how you have less allergies as a nerve agent literally asphyxiates you to death. Priorities people!
  19. An all-hazards approach is always preferred.
  20. With my wife being a UTSA alum, this is the only game I needed to win last season. Let's hope we can figure it out this year.
  21. As a proud graduate of UNT's Emergency Management program, I can point out the most important reason why this is a bad idea. Having a beard will leave you unable to get a good seal on your gas mask/APR during a chemical weapons attack, and you will quickly turn into a dead victim with a beard. Being clean shaven is much manlier, since beards are just weakness for your enemy to exploit.
  22. I hear you say UNT needs to take over Denton and that tells me that we need to tear down TWU. Don't need to tell me twice. Death to TWU!!
  23. Yeah, I had to deal with an overaggressive officer who told me to "GET OUT OF MY FACE" while I was down on the field. In these kinds of situations, the impetus must be on the officer, the public servant, to behave in a professional and even manner. The argument that cops should always react to any situation with the maximum amount of aggressive force is a slippery slope, at best. The officer shouldn't have had to automatically assume that I wasn't going to hurt him, but since I made no indication of doing so, I also have every right to be treated with the maximum amount of respect. This guy was mad. He was mad that thing's hadn't gone his way, and while that doesn't mean that Dallas cops or any cops are all the same, a bully with a badge is still a bully.
  24. I'm glad UNT won, although having done my ungrad degrees from UNT and my grad work from A&M, I root for both teams. Luckily for me, get a chance to watch both my teams play and win on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Go Mean Green! Let's go Aggies!
