  1. While I feel more love for my undergrad school, which is of course UNT, I'd probably a little more disappointed with my grad school, A&M. I didn't expect that UNT would be as bad (so far) as they have been, but expected 7-5, 8-4. I had championship expectations with A&M.
  2. Yeah, since I've already got tickets to the UTSA game, I'd love to have a little to root for when we get there.
  3. I don't have anything against fracking, per se, at least until there is a true scientific consensus on the issue. Working in Emergency Management, I can't ignore the link (as recognized by the US Geological Survey) between fracking and the rise of earthquakes in an area, but that is kind of a peripheral point. That being said, I'm glad it got voted out of Denton, and I'm sad I no longer live there to have helped vote it out myself. Even if the process is not inherently wrong (and it may be), it's wrong for Denton. If nothing else, we should support the rights of voters in cities to have control of their local affairs. I read that the Texas Land Commissioner immediately filed a lawsuit against Denton, which I took issue with when I wrote him a strongly-worded letter.
  4. Lance has been looking great when the Cowboys get him on the field, but I have a question. I don't think we've seen him get a hand off since the first week against the 49ers. I know he's a speedy little guy so it makes sense to get the ball to him in space rather than having to navigate through a wall of giants from behind the line, but does he even count as a running back anymore if it seems like he's filling a receiver role???
  5. Going to my twin sister's couples shower.
  6. Awesome. This last game was blacked out for me.
  7. That's a real bummer. Sorry to hear that.
  8. Did you just say that Kerr Hall was something wrong with Denton? I will straight up challenge you to an honor duel.
  9. Bo staff skills maybe?
  10. I think we lost quite a few people because of the heat at halftime. I saw one girl getting carried off the wing due to heat exhaustion. Hydrate or die, people!
  11. The responsible adult reaction is to accept that is the case and understand to each their own. But for my part I saw that and wanted to say "Well, that's just plain Un-American."
  12. I only mean being anywhere near Lubbock and being away from Denton for 20 years.
  13. Ha, I was going to laugh if this list wasn't so sad. Imagine how I felt. I moved onto campus in 2008.
  14. Hit the nail on the head. And while I'm sure you're an otherwise fine person, but I pray I don't end up like you.
  15. Eh, as West Texas goes, it's not horrible. Still better that Lubbock, Abilene, and El Paso. Still, being crowned best of West Texas isn't exactly an honor that's worth anything.
  16. Well, Denton isn't the best sports down, but after having lived in Denton for six years and then moved to Amarillo, eeesh, Denton is straight up heaven.
  17. It seemed preferable to running around in a circle screaming.
  18. Whoo, slow down there killer. I surrender. To be fair, my opinions on greek life are based on my experiences, just like everyone's. If membership within said organization is the only way to judge it, then why do we hire outside auditors to find issues that we might not see? I could just as easily say that you are blinded to the faults of greek life because it means so much to you. No one can deny the fact that greek life at UNT has led to some heinous and embarrassing shenanigans, anymore than I can deny that I'm sure there are good people in them too, which I did above. I did spend most of time living in dorms on campus, which was awesome. I made alot of friends, met my wife, and noone gets turned away by a secretive selection process. Sure, I like action figures. I think I have dozens of Captain America figures all around my man cave, thought I fail to see how that is relevant to this conversation, and my action figure collection is probably cooler than your hobby anyway. And not to nitpick, but isn't scoping out my social media stuff because we're Facebook friends and rolling all of that into this forum a little low?
  19. Yeah, can't say that's terrible. I know we've all sat through some scorchers on UNT's home openers.
  20. Sure, it's more than worthwhile to say that there are good people and bad people in just about every organization that ever existed. But I think it's probably just as fair to say that people are going to remember the bad things more than the good things. northtexassigep is right thought. We might just have to agree to disagree.
  21. To each their own. I'm automatically suspicious of any closed organization that doesn't have clearly defined standards of membership. That's not some kind of honored organization, that's a high school click. I'm sick of hearing about your "brothers". Living in the same house, wearing matching boat shoes, and drinking alot doesn't make you brothers. I was born with exactly 0 brothers, but now I have quite a few, but then, I spent 8 months with my brothers in a burning/freezing hellhole running off a minimal amount of sleep whilst living with them in a tiny metal box. If greek life can add that into their initiations, you guys might have the right to call each other family. Until then, give me a break. Then with all the crap that UNT has had to put up with in regards to it's own greek life. That kid falling and hurting himself, that one frat getting itself kicked off campus. It's embarrassing, and I can't imagine why the university puts up with it.
  22. I won't miss them at all. Greek Life and everything associated with it is a huge sham.
  23. Get up at 5am in Amarillo to get to Denton in time for the game. Doesn't really leave alot of other time to do other things.
  24. I work for Tech HSC in Amarillo. I definitely stand out in Green around all this red and black. Going to stand out alot tomorrow in that sea of home side orange.
