Went to Lake Highlands High in Dallas. Historically solid team with 1 state championship in 1981. I only know of the recent NFL players that came from there so here goes: Matt Stover, Frank Okam, Marshall Newhouse (pretty sure he started in the superbowl for greenbay), Detron Smith, Wade Smith. Current NCAA players of note include Desmond Roland at Ok State and Kent Perkins at Texas.

Kid can play! Redshirt him and get some that baby fat off and he could be a monster paired with tj. But, alas, it is unt and i foubt anyone is keeping touch with him now!

I think that ellis has shown he can play and minor is pretty solid in backing up akunne. I think the weakness was fred scott and anthony wallace in the middle. It looks like finney is coming for that spot now though so we may actually see an improvement at lb next year.the pivotal positions in skladany's defense were the guys in the middle of the field being solid so the perimeter guys could run freely to the ball. That was why abbe, orr, and trice/lee(in certain situations) were so successful. They cleaned up and filled in the potential weak spots in the defense. Fastforward to this past season and scott/wallace were missing assignments left and right while there was noone in the middle of the d line to keep the ols off our lbs. The middle is going to be key to fixing the defense. It even helped cover for the corner backs in 2013 as they struggled early on.

His throwing motion and arm strength arent very good though... He has the best set of high school receivers i can remember. They are always wide open and adjust tobthe ball really well! -

Already commited to baylor... -
lb is actually the most stacked position on this team in my opinion. we have a lot of guys who could end up starting next year at all three positions. WILL: Marshall, Ellis MIKE: Scott, Wallace, Finney SAM: Minor, Bean then we have the guys that provide depth: MIKE: Montgomery SAM: Garner, A. Smith WILL: D. Smith, L. Smith? linebackers are a pretty strong unit as long as they develop into next season. Adding Finney and D. Smith has definitely solidified the unit though... they can go hard all game with fresh legs!!!

probably not... he witnessed first hand how hard his brother worked and how fickle the fans were in support. i wouldn't come here and have all that legacy pressure from a fan base that isn't willing to show up on saturdays. Go to wisconsin Chris and get a great degree from one of the better public universities in the country; it makes too much sense!

agreed... seems that mac has hit the panic button on some of the HS guys that aren't developing.

I really want to agree with you... but there is a certain aura of obliviousness that is starting to become obvious to me... kid looks better than any other kid a have seen us recruiting at his position besides miller who is a commit. maybe they only wanted one pass rusher this year but i think he should at least have an offer or someone keep up with him. I am not sure that they have in fact seen his film. seems like the kind of kid coach patrick would be all over, same kind of player he was back in the day. -

SOMEONE EMAIL MAC ABOUT THIS AND CALL HIS ASS OUT!!! THERE IS NO REASON THIS KID SHOULDNT HAVE AN OFFER FROM US!!! THE CAPS MEAN IM YELLING!!! -
I think that was the best pitch for an assistant AD job I've seen on here. Seriously, you should send in a resume because if you do the things on this list, you would already be head and shoulders above our current guys...
-
we actually only have 1 pg available and he isnt playing much... eaglin is the only actual pg currently available on the roster.
-
to some of us...
-
like the twins...
-
of course... because we all owe the football team something instead of the other way around.
-
this defense is also playing some of the worst football i have ever seen on any level ever... ever
-
i wish i could blame mini mac... i just cant see how anything ever works with that o line being so terrible
-
I am not watching this game because I don't have cable and streaming is a hassle for me but i am glad not to have to see this whooping. I have no idea what is going on in this team but it is not good. I honestly believe that Dajon not getting prepared in the off season killed this whole season. they never got to get their swagger going and that clearly hurts the confidence of a "young" team. i thought we would not be as good this year but these guys are playing way beneath their own potential so I have to put that on the coaches. there is no reason they should be that bad.

considered it but there are no better HS Guards that we are going after... he was at the top of the list as far as I can tell. -

IDK about that. has anyone seen a game he has played in. I wonder if he just has a hard time getting open or if it is the offense not going deep often. with his reported speed, there should be no reason he isn't getting open downfield but if the offense (QB) doesn't do that, then it doesn't play to his strength. also, i wonder if he isn't quite explosive enough with his direction changing ability. i know that is something that a redshirt year can fix but it is still something to be wary of. -

that is a terrible sentiment to wish a young kid that you actually know nothing about. would i like for him to come to school at NT and play for us, surely would. the fact that he isn't completely sure he will do that now doesn't make him a bad kid or lacking loyalty and respect. he isn't married to the program because he thought he would come here... he gets to look other places if he wants. Also, UNT recruiting is taking a hit since the whole McWhorter thing. how much do you want to bet that TSU used that when they were recruiting cheatum? our fans coming on here and talking down on a kid we were all excited about while his dad is actually participating in the thread is weak. reputation is word of mouth and that is just one more thing that could be spoken negatively about us. dad tells kid, kid tells coach, coach tells other kids, and so on and so forth. mix that with the McWhorter situation and we no longer have a good recruiting reputation. I get the "we don't need you if you don't want to be here" thing but I just don't think it is fair or wise to bad mouth 17-18 year old kids, and their parents in a way, because they don't do what you want. Just my personal preference.
