  1. From insideRunnerSports.com - If the NCAA has reached their 70 teams or gone over, UTSA will NOT be allowed to submit a waiver. And according to the UTSA AD they will not submit a waiver. UTSA is stuck in the transition zone and not eligible for post-season bowl play unless not enough teams are available. However, they are eligible to play for a conference title and that's where their post-season hopes lay.
  2. Haha. Yeah, you're right, Rudy. But maybe i did put a little elbow in there, too.
  3. I'm hoping for the HOD. It would be great for UNT fans to make the bowl game in huge numbers. As for other bowl games, excluding the Hawaii Bowl, what comes into play is how well the school travels. Since I'm new to UNT, can y'all tell me how well UNT has traveled this year? Or how well they travel overall? What did UNT fan numbers look like at Tulane and La Tech? Those two standout due to driveability within a day.
  4. To clarify, as some already have on here (thanks), I am home. I'm both a UTSA graduate and current UNT student pursuing a second degree. Hence, the name MeanGreenRoadrunner. I figured that name spoke for itself. And you say I went to a community college? (Zing!) Anyway, yeah, I still have strong loyalties to UTSA. The heart always stays true to your first alma mater. Long story short: I'm here because I'm a part of the Mean Green Nation and have been a huge supporter - going to numerous bball games in the spring and several football games this fall. I just might wear my orange and blue glasses once and a while... Now, let's put on our Green and handle our business up in Tulsa! We have post season to prep for. (Actually, I'll be down in S.A. watching UTSA take on La Tech, but I'll be tracking the UNT game on my phone!)
  5. Im an alum of UTSA and currently attend UNT. Denton and SA, the people, the students, the academics of the two schools are way more similar than all this jibber jabber would make one think. The only difference academically is what they're known for. UNT: Arts, UTSA: Science. But overall, quality people at both schools. They outshine the few internet crazies. Cant wait for the rematch in SA next year.
  6. If it's any consolation, after the loss yesterday, at least y'all get to watch Mean Green on Sundays. Dunbar is having a good game today. Pretty involved in the offense this afternoon. UTSA will have to wait a little bit before we see Runners on Sunday. Well... There was Teddy Williams on the Dallas practice squad. But he was a track guy before the football team.
  7. I don't think the loss itself hurts too much. Though, unt and utsa have been fighting for the same recruits. However, i think it's about being visible. So unt not having the national spotlight of the cusa title game - might hurt. They'll have a televised bowl game. Play hard and win that - then they'll help their recruiting cause.
  8. I was a bit disappointed in the crowd. I was really expecting a larger crowd considering how good UNT is this year. Granted, this is only my first year at UNT, so i don't have a good feel of the usual crowd numbers. Plus, that little issue of cold weather... Still, the 20k or so that was there made plenty of noise. It made for a good game environment. Would like to have heard another "North - Texas" chant. Think i only heard it once. It's pretty cool to hear.
  9. You hit right on the head, there, Digi. We need to not let the cusa title go to future AAC teams.
  10. Are you dense? Difference is, we're not the players. So regular students are not expected to act mature and represent their university with integrity. Anyway, I'm not even tryin to fight here. Im just sayin both sides were jawing at each other, and it was just as bad on forums and message boards. But game over. UTSA wins. Im done.
  11. I strongly believe the seed has been planted my friend. And I think it's a good thing.
  12. I was on the UTSA sideline. The UNT student section were being just as "trashy." They said stuff to me as i passed by wearing my UTSA gear, but i let it slide because both are young. It's just part of the game. That's what happens when you have the student section near the visiting team - that's why you want them there, right? To be a distraction to the opponent.
  13. It was tough watching my two schools going at it tonight, but my first school, UTSA, pulled it out. They had to work for it at the end. No matter all the heavy trash talk these past 2 weeks, i know too many good people at both schools that outshine the attitudes of a few. UNT, is still a good team, but it was the Runners night. Good game UNT. Cant wait to have y'all in San Antonio next year. My hat off to Coach McCarney. Right after the win, while i was on the field i saw him looking for Coach Coker, and wouldn't get off the field until he shook hits hand. He told Coker "you have a hell of a team!" And Coker said "you have the same." Sportsmanship and respectrespect right there.
  14. I'm pro-UTSA in the football game, but during my time here at UNT... Damn, ain't no touching Green Brigade! The UNT band is legit. What else do you expect from one of the premiere music programs in the country. But anyway, UTSA's band the Spirit of San Antonio (or SOSA as they're known in the streets) is pretty good for how young they are. Here's some YouTube video of them from last year. They're still finding their own style, but they do have some fun on the field. In the stands they still need to build their music repertoire. But like I said, they're still growing.
  15. That's why I said they're mathematically in the hunt. They can only control so much, but they're still in it. So they just need to win out and hope the dominoes fall into place for them. It's not over until it's over.
  16. UNT's post-season is in their hands. Yes, a bowl game is in the future, but more wins, plus a conference title, mean bigger and better things in terms of a bowl. So yeah, I agree with you. However, UTSA is a worthy opponent because they're still mathematically in the hunt for a Division title as well. Take out the the OOC games and you're talking about a 5-1 team vs. 4-2. Look at just the West division and you're looking at a 3-1 team vs. a 3-1 team. If UNT loses to UTSA, the west becomes a mess and sets up a huge Saturday next weekend for Conference USA.
  17. hahaha! Sometimes it feels that way on boards - that's it's just a handful of people. But it seems that, overall, fans on both sides know that this game has some weight.
  18. Hey guys, I'm noticing that this game is getting a lot of hype built around it. The trash talk has been solid on both games. There's plenty riding on it in terms of post-season aspirations. etc. Can y'all tell me the last time a Mean Green game got this much hype? Or is this just another game with a lot of smack?
  19. My question is this, TheColonyEagle and UNT90: What will it mean to you guys if UNT loses tomorrow?
  20. Word is there is a large UTSA alumni base in the DFW area. If so, I would love to see UTSA show up big just like they did last year at Rice where there is a huge UTSA alumni base in the Houston area. UTSA's crowd was bigger, if not equal to the Rice home crowd. Several thousand strong.
  21. Yeah, I'll be honest, I think UTSA is up to the challenge, but a little luck wouldn't hurt either. The thing here is that there is no history here to really predict the outcome. UTSA is only 3 years old, UNT is just getting back to winning. They've never played each other and both are new to the conference. A lot of speculation in this game. Until, both schools are about 2-3 years deep in CUSA, with some history against some of the same opponents and each other, we'll just have to be happy with speculation. Thus, I can't wait for this long two week break to be over so we can just finally see what happens when these two teams play. Good times. Anyway, good luck to the Mean Green as well. They have a right to be confident, but they too have a lot riding on this game as well. Plenty of pressure on both teams to prove things Saturday.
  22. Yeah, Glasco is a major loss to or offense but the way Jarveon Williams has been sparking and if Evans Ojatcha can give us solid downs we should be ok. oc eric brown has had 2 weeks to figure it out. What im interested to see is how our hard hat d holds up against the unt run game. Our d has been just about as tough against the run as UNT. It's UTSA's secondary that i look for UNT to exploit, that's been the Achilles heel of UTSA all season, but during this 3 game win streak theyve really come together. With UNT only being favored by 8, hold on to your shorts, it's gonna be a fun one. Shoutout to my fellow UTSA reporter, Jerry Briggs!
  23. The only problem i have with this statement is that many of us Roadrunners actually prefer Popeyes over KFC.
  24. What's with all the hate on my Roadrunners? Y'all are really killing my good time vibes i have here at UNT! Haha I don't know who will win, but the point spread will be 7-10 points. I love what UNT is doing this season and have worn my green to a couple games. But when 11/23 comes around, it's all orange and blue for me.
