  1. $50 per day thats insane for a UNT grad let alone a UNT student, what are they thinking???
  2. very very sloppy basketball, totally out coached... they still have no clue how to in bound the ball especially when there is a press.
  3. and I would rather have a defensive head coach, but they need to bring in an assistant who can organize the offense, and make adjustments.
  4. Right now I would give Hodge a B- I think he did a good job building and recruiting this team. There is a lot of individual talent, and they still haven't quite come together but they are on the right path. On the defensive side of the ball they are as good as we expected. However on the offensive side, they do seem a bit sloppy at times, they are not very good at in bounding the ball under heavy pressure, and sometimes struggle to advance the ball out of the back court.
  5. Its early, and I am not sure how closely they are looking at the AAC. Its likely Lunardi took a quick look at the AAC and saw 2 ranked teams (FAU & Memphis), and the first place team (UNT), and based his bracket on that. ...And a 13 seed?? Assuming UNT wins the tournament, they would likely have to go through 2-3 Q1 teams to win it, including Memphis and FAU whom he has seeded at 5 and 6, that should earn more then a 13 seed.
  6. ECU played very good perimeter defense against UNT, knowing we like to shoot the 3, and it did force some really poor shots at times. However UNT was able to adjust drive the ball inside and get easy buckets.
  7. UNT certainly has the defense to win the AAC... I dont think FAU and Memphis are unbeatable, and the confernce as a whole looks a lot better then many predicted in the preseason, there could be 5-6 schools that have a chance at winning the AAC tournament, depending how the bracket looks. As for the NCAA tournament, most bracketologists have FAU and Memphis in, I dont think that the other schools in the conference have done enough to get into the at large conversation yet.
  8. UNT does a very poor job marketing and promoting their athletic program in DFW... Do they even have anyone that is in charge of this? I would be curious to know what their local media package looks like, if they even have one.
  9. Good Win... over all they looked more disciplined on defense
  10. NCAA has not real power, in reality just a handful of schools have the power to do anything because they have the conferences and state legislatures behind them. When the NIL starts to effect those schools negatively is when you will see change. I do think at some point the current NIL system will start to negatively impact the educational reputations of some of these institutions, especially the smaller private schools.
  11. It was a win against a team they were supposed to beat. That said, the team was way to dependent on shooting the 3, they ran the exact same play every time, and even when UTA would pressure the perimeter UNT struggled to find ways inside. They did get away with some sloppy play, particularly while in bounding the ball and under the basket, AAC teams will punish sloppy play. One trend I am liking is the rebounding on both sides of the floor and the way the guards are playing on defense.
  12. Bowl season seems less interesting every year... there are to many... week nights during prime time they are going head to head with NBA (as well as CBB and NHL)... players are sitting out.
  13. This team has talent, they have been in every game this year, but the inability to make adjustments is very concerning... poor game management in crunch time, defensively they have gotten a bit sloppy. Hate to say it, but this team has been out coached in just about every game this season Grade: D+
  14. This is why Morris was brought in, to build a team that can compete, he was not able to do this last year because he was not even hired at this stage of the portal being open. I hope people remember the importance of the fall transfer window, and why programs need to have their coaching staff in order before the window opens.... And do not fire a head coach in the middle of the transfer window!!!
  15. I think this is the new norm given the rules of the NIL and portal. Everyone is essentially a free agent when the portal opens, schools need to find reasons to get players to stay as well as recruit new players.
  16. You recruit players, then you have to re-recruit them to stay... Until the rules change thats just how its going to be, players would be stupid not to test the market by throwing their name into the portal. Schools need to expect this, and plan accordingly.
  17. I feel Hodge is being out coached in these losses.. They are able to move the ball around the perimeter, but that is because defenses give them that.
  18. The proposal is preposterous! The NCAA has no power and they know it, I think they only proposed this idea to force congress to get involved.
  19. The MWC has been an over rated conference the last few years, they have been a 4 bid conference the last couple seasons, yet rarely do their schools make it past the first round. This is a big game for both schools, and could have potential implications in March.
  20. There are 4 Power conferences, just take the champion from each conference and have a 4 team playoff. That way there is no drama who gets selected. There are plenty of other bowl games to go around for everyone else.
  21. Still to early in the season for the NET to be meaningful, just not enough data this early. Several teams in our conference have not even played a road game, including UNT.
  22. Call it a tune up game if you want, but this team has only played together 6 times under this coach, they are still coming together. and the next couple games are not going to be as easy.
  23. He hasn't even had a full year of recruiting. These days teams are build by recruiting in the transfer portal. You bring in a new DC to implement a different system, then you have to find players that fit that system. These coaches missed most, if not all, of last years transfer portal, and didnt have a lot to work with in the spring. Making a coaching change on the eve of the portal opening, means throwing away another year of recruiting and will put the next DC in the exact same position.
  24. Caponi did not have a full off season to build this defense, he had to make do with Littrell's left overs. Expectations were not exactly high for this defense before Caponi, the defense lacked quality players and were expected to finish near the bottom of the conference. PLayers were unable to execute tackles, that is on the players, not the DC. Those that want him fired, whats the plan? Do you really expect UNT to hire a top DC? someone that can instantly recruit and build a top defense in the conference? Thats not going to happen! Changing the DC will effect recruiting, and we are just days away from the window opening, do we really want to throw away another year of recruiting?
  25. How can you even grade a coach with out recruiting? Recruiting is literally half the job. This coaching staff missed the big transfer window last year, for the most part they were working with left overs. What happens over the next few weeks is vital, this staff gets the opportunity to attack the transfer market and build the the way they want. Honestly 5 wins was better then I thought they would do, it was a rebuild, new coaching staff with virtually no recruiting and some good players left.
