  1. honestly I was never really excited about AAC football... Basketball is the reason to be excited about joining the AAC! The AAC is a legit multi bid conference, and our basketball programs are light years ahead of football.
  2. I thought this was a 4-8 team going into the season, still planned to watch every game
  3. I think waiting until the end of October is to late, unless you already have your next coach lined up. Personally I think the cut off date to make a decision is October 1st, that will be the halfway point of the season, they should know then if they want to make a change for the following season. Not saying they fire him that day, just that that would be the time to start looking for a new coach.
  4. I dont think you can wait until the off season to hire a new coach... with the NIL and transfer portal, players start looking for new teams as soon as their season is over, so a program has to be ready to recruit they day after the season ends.
  5. again the regular season is very different from the post season... during the regular season you watch your team, and pay close attention to all the other teams in your team's conference. during the post season, fans are interested if their team is in it, but could probably care less about other teams. I think 4-6 team playoff works well enough... but if they start pairing the top CUSA team against the top SEC team in a playoff game, its going to end in a blow out, and no one is tuning in to watch after the 2nd quarter.
  6. You are absolutely right if we are talking about the college football regular season. However the interest level drops dramatically in the college football post season. Most of the bowl games are nowhere close to capacity, even the bigger bowl games and payoff games hardly come close to the big regular season rivalry games as far as viewers. Lets say a 16 team playoff did happen, and schools like Tulsa and Washington got matched to play in the Peach Bowl round 1... would anyone expect a capacity crowd or even a decent TV rating?
  7. what works for college football is big teams and rivalry games played in front of packed stadiums and broadcast on national TV... very few bowl games and even some playoff games can fill a stadium, the interest just does not seem to be there.
  8. so are people not able to walk up and buy tickets at the stadium?
  9. I have not heard any promos or marketing, is that the case in Denton too?
  10. certainly one of his better coached games, hopefully they can continue that momentum in week 1
  11. So where are the Dallas people watching the game?
  12. Been to Memphis a bunch of times great place to visit, though I wouldn't want to live there. In my opinion your best bet is a downtown hotel walking distance to Belle street and just uber to the game.
  13. Looks like Omaha visiting UNT on DEC 3rd
  14. UNT had one of the top defenses in the country last season, I dont think that changes much going into the 22/23 season, so I dont see them loosing 7 games in conference.
  15. Stadium is showing the UTEP game SMU game will be on CBSSN Texas Southern will be on ESPN3 Memphis will be on ??? FAU looks like ESPN+ Louisiana Tech is on ESPN+ UTSA will be on Stadium WK will be on Stadium Florida International ESPN+ UAB will be on Stadium Rice will be on ???
  16. The burbs go way past Denton these days, its was absorbed into the Dallas area suburban system years ago, like many other smaller towns.
  17. El Paso is a city, Denton is a suburb
  18. wow 2 blow out losses to start the season... the new coaching search might start week 3
  19. I think timing is a factor (changing conferences), as well as who else is available, and the type of contract he signed (buying him out would have been expensive). I think his future will be decided in the first 6 games this season, a loosing record at this point would probably mean he is not coming back next season.
  20. Its not the lack of winning, its a lack of simple organization by the university and the alumni. Just talking to friends from other schools, their social media has them well informed on schedules, TV channels, and where the Dallas viewing spots are.
  21. its basic marketing and promotions... somebody in Denton should have this job, if they dont already. Its not that hard nor is it expensive to send out press releases to the local sports media, or tag these people on twitter. while they are at it, reach out to all the major local sports bars and make sure they have UNT games on their lists.
  22. UNT, though a large university, students and alumni do not care about sports. The school does a poor job of marketing their sports program to the metroplex. I'll give smu some credit, they do a good job of making sure their program is in the conversation.
  23. I think its a good move for the Pac, whats left of the Big12 is not going to be a major network draw especially when they share the same time zones as most of the Big10, ACC, and SEC. The Pac has an advantage with their time zones, their games can be played after those in the east, which gives them the major network channels at that time.
  24. college football is very popular in DFW the problem is, the only people in DFW that really watch SMU games are people that are connected to the university, and its not that many, Big12 and other top 25 schools are the big tv draw in this market. Memphis might be a better for the ACC..
