  1. The biggest issue for me was recruiting, his style of coaching was above the abilities of many of his players.
  2. The time to fire a college coach (rip the bandaid) is in October, and a new coaches are hired before recruiting window opens (which is today). This year there is a limited amount of time for players to enter the portal... Not having a coach, coaching staff, or even an AD in place for that very important transfer window is idiotic!
  3. timing couldn't be worse, right on the eve of the transfer window, how many current players are going to jump ship? how many coaches? They should have fired him a month ago, and could have hired a new coach in place ready to build a team. But now it seems they are throwing next season away.
  4. Tulane was very aggressive in the transfer portal, they brought in 10 transfers to be starters in 2022.
  5. Its bad optics, and optics mean money
  6. The rules are different now then in the past, we are probably going to see a record number of transfers this week and through out the window. With UNT moving to the top G5 conference there will be a lot of interest from good players from around the country, and the program needs to be ready to capitalize.
  7. is it on ESPN+?
  8. what do you mean not true? The transfer portal window opens on Monday December 5th. read up on it here: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ncaa-transfer-portal-2023-live-updates-college-football-transfer-tracker-powered-by-247sports/live/

absolutely a recruiting issue... now moving to the AAC should help that, essentially going from the worst G% conference to the best, there will be more transfer interest from quality players.
  10. Obviously a change needs to be made, but it to late to fire the coach, the timing is bad, the transfer window is about to open, and next season's roster is going to be built over the next couple weeks.
  11. ill give you that, they recruited a bunch of players that are just not capable to play at this level.
  12. just bad coaching, what game are you watching??? QB cant hit the target, DBs are getting beat on every rout, this is on the players as much as coaches.
  13. our QB has terrible accuracy, our DBs are garbage, clock management is poor.... this program needs a full rebuild!!!
  14. Is it not to late to hire a coach? The transfer window opens on Monday, we need a coach in place for this. UNT is moving from the least attractive G5 conference to the most attractive G5 conference, there will be a lot of transfer interest from good players, the program needs to be on top of this.
  15. Anyone see Heman's contract? what are they paying him?
  16. Wren seemed to be someone that knew what it would take to bring the schools athletic programs into the top tier of college sports. However it did not seem as if the administration was always on the same page. The timing does seem concerning, his name has been floated among several power schools (several that had to be more attractive then WV), so I get the feeling that he left in a hurry. So I have to speculate that maybe there was an issue over what to do about the coach, and that put the AD at odds with the administration.
  17. One thing I would like to see is an AD that can get all of DFW involved, more involvement with the larger media outlets in DFW, also make sure that every sports bar in DFW is sowing every UNT football and basketball games.
  18. guessing you dont spend much time in downtown Dallas, there is a lot of foot traffic downtown these day, lots bars and restaurants, AT&T discovery district is packed daily, plus just a trolley ride away from up town
  19. I remember an article last spring when the were trying to extend Grant, Wren seemed willing to do what ever it took to keep him, while the university didnt seem as inclined to do so. But he got the deal done, I wonder if that created some animosity between Wren and the University? Also have to wonder if there was an issue over Littrell between Wren and the University? The timing of this couldn't be worse, Littrell situation up in the air, 2 days before the championship, 5 Days before the transfer window opens.
  20. This is life in the NIL / Transfer era... Players dont like it then they can hit the portal, and they'll be sure to let potential transfers and high school recruits know, this can ruin a program for years.
  21. Runs the table??? No way they can wait until after the bowl game, it would be to deep into the transfer window. I think the AD needs to come out sometime before the 5th to state this programs intentions.
  22. It is kind of shitty that heading into a championship game, the majority of threads on this forum are about firing the coach.
  23. I would have thought the transfer process would take a little longer given that the student athlete would still be accepted into the university.
  24. how long can a school wait? players are going to start moving as soon as the window opens on the 5th, how well can a school recruit with out a coaching staff in place?
  25. the window is closing, coaches are interviewing all over the country this week, I dont know if they can wait a week. There has to be some sort of deadline on making a decision on SL, I would assume the school would not want to be suck in the middle of the transfer window with out a coach.
