With the bottom of the conference being so weak its very hard for good teams to improve their NET ranking. For UNT there are no more Q1 games on the regular season schedule, and just a couple Q2 games.

FAU - Too Good to be a Cinderella
MrAlien replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Any loss on their remaining schedule will boot them out of the top 30. With strength of schedule and strength of victory factoring in its going to be hard for them to move up, they may even move down with weak victories. Now if FAU lost to UNT in the final of the tournament, then UNT would probably find themselves in the top 50 in NET making that a quad 1 loss for FAU which would put them right on the bubble for an at large bid. Both teams would probably need to run the table to make that happen. -
How can it be regulated? Look at Bronny's deal with Nike... Nike will have a say in which school he plays for, who plays with him, how many minutes a game he plays, and likely also what time and what channel the games are on. If the university does not like it, then Nike will move him to another school, or a pro team. The schools no longer really have control.

FAU - Too Good to be a Cinderella
MrAlien replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Basketball
If they dont win the conference tournament, then whom ever they loose to will effect their NET ranking. As it stands right now they will not play another quad 1 team, so any loss would be to a quad 2 or worse, and that will really hurt them in the NET rankings. -
FAU - Too Good to be a Cinderella

Its good for FAU and its good for the schools leaving CUSA and joining the AAC, however I agree they have had some good luck, and in UNT's case they just beat themselves. -
The speed at which some of these transfers are happening tells me that there is absolutely tampering and negotiations going on behind the scenes.

Will Deion cause the NCAA to change a rule that just changed?
MrAlien replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
It sounds to me as if Prime is building his roster, while letting the AD and university sort out the details and the scholarships. Can a university take a scholarship away from a student whom the coach does not want on his roster? -
Maybe CBSSN is more available in that part of the country, I know not every cable provider has it in DFW.

Why does next year have. To be a rebuilding Year?
MrAlien replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
College coaching is more then just Xs and Os, and I'll give Littrell some credit in that department. Littrell's issue was developing players, he had some decent classes on paper, but a lot of players were not able to transition to the college game, he wasn't always able to get the most out of them. Thats where coach Morris and a new system will have to improve thing, and I think they will, however it will take some time. -

How is it not a reset? This is not Littrell 2.0!!! They did not fire Littrell just to hire someone with the exact same program and philosophy, every coach has their own system, and thats exactly why they hired Morris, to bring in a new system. Just because they were both former assistant coaches, does not mean that they are the same. Dont get me wrong, I am excited about where this program is heading, but I understand it will take a couple recruiting cycles before this program is competitive in the AAC. -

MrAlien replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
It was not a coaching upgrade, it was a program reset, new AD, new coaching system, new recruiting direction. The current players were recruited to play in Littrell's system, they are going to have to adjust, if they can. Morris will need to recruit players that can play well under his system, and that is going to take time. -

I'll give them 2-2 in OOC, wins against ACU and FIU. and 1-7 in conference, Temple at home could be a win, but I am not to confident in that. -

I dont see them winning a road conference game next year. At home UTSA, UAB and Memphis are just better teams. Temple might look easy on paper but I am not betting much on this one either. -

Littrell was not a great recruiter, however up until early December he was in charge of it. Morris was not here, so he has only been able to recruit for a few days, and most potential recruits already have their schools picked out by the spring semester. The transfer window has not been a success at this point, how is re-recruiting going? Will there be enough success in 23 to encourage recruiting, probably not, UNT are looking like a 3 win team next year. -

Coaches do more then coaching in college football, half the job is about recruiting. When coaches are fired or leave, all that recruiting momentum is lost. It will take at least a year or two to get recruiting on track. looking at next seasons conference schedule, last years team would probably go 0-8 if they had to play it. -

No doubt there was going to have to be an improvement in recruiting heading into the AAC, and we will never know what sort of recruiting the program was gearing up to prior to the SL firing. The new staff had to start all over in the middle of the transfer window, and that easily set them back. I think 2 maybe 3 seasons to get this program back on track, I just hope everyone has patience with the new coach during that time. -

MrAlien replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
This is absolutely a rebuilding year... This program should have started planning for next season, 3 months ago. Instead they hit the reset button in December on the eve of the transfer portal opening and they are only a few days into actually preparing for next season (transfer window closes on the 18th). Good thing is, expectations are low, the playbook is wide open and players will have plenty of opportunities. Also keep in mind that the AAC is a much better conference talent wise, its going to take a few solid recruiting and transfer classes before the team is able to compete. -
I see a lot of bracket experts with 5 teams from the MWC and 3 from the AAC. UAB was getting some love from a few experts, but probably not anymore. I agree I think the only way 2 schools from the CUSA get in is if FAU looses the conference championship game and is still top 25 in NET.
-
Strength of victory was only +2 and it was at home. Consequently LaTech actually moved up with a 2 point loss on the road.
-
Here is a look at CUSA along with AAC & MWC. I think for CUSA to get a 2nd bid, it would come at the expense of the AAC or MWC... The Pac12 and WCC are probably locked in at 2 each, with Utah (43-NET PAC12) being a wild card.

I still think it is Terry's to loose, they should be a sweet 16 team, if they get beyond that then I think he stays. -

I can see Baylor putting up a fight to keep him, should Texas show interst -
95 is a bit optimistic... right now I got them at 3 wins ACU (not ranked) home - should be a win FIU (123) away - should be a win Cal (73) at home - probably a loss LT(129) away - might be a win UTSA (19) at home - loss UAB (97) at home - loss Memphis (74) at home - possible win Temple (116) at home - possible win Tulsa (103) away - probably a loss SMU (56) away - loss Tulane (15) away - loss Navy (101) away - probably a loss
