  1. I think I currently have plantar faciitis.... my heel has been hurting on and off (mostly on) for the past several months. Hurts like hell to put weight on it, especially in the morning. But it is not debilitating. As the day progresses, the pain becomes bearable. Running during the heat and adrenaline of game situations shouldn't be an issue. Limping will be more pronounced on the sidelines between possessions, and after the game. I wouldn't consider plantar faciitis as a "go" or "no go" injury. It can be played through. The following morning will be hell, but by that time, the game will have been won, and the smile will be all worth it.
  2. Who is the Kentucky Fried "Chicken" now?? pawck, pawck, paaaawwwck! LOL Feeling that doubt already?... poor, poor UNT90. You guys might wanna start a suicide watch for this poor fella when things start going south for you on the 23rd.
  3. It was me. Go back and read. I've never stated that it would be easy. But yes, I do believe we can and will be victorious. It will take everything we have. Razor sharp focus and execution will be the key. We will prevail. The doubt in those UNT minds of yours (we all know it exists, so might as well call it out) will slowly but surely start creeping in as the game progresses. Little by little, you'll see that UTSA is up to the challenge at hand... and little by little that doubt will continue to sink in, and slowly turn into disgust and sorrow, as the tick tock of the clock inevitably strikes zero.
  4. What is Apogee's capacity? And is it sold out for the UTSA game? There's an off chance I can make it, so just checking.
  5. I don't think we can hold y'all under 24, so we are gonna have to put 25+ up if we want to win this one.
  6. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the majority of UTSA fans are as delusional as you think. I am sure the majority of UTSA fans know that we are a young program that has been blessed with being at the right place at the right time. If you look at the very short history of the football program, you'd know that we were not expecting to be in a conference as good as CUSA at this time. Heck we, were ecstatic to be picked up by the WAC last season! A CUSA membership was a pipe dream that was 7+ years out when we first started the program. But, by the blessing of the good football gods, we are here now.. way earlier than we ever expected. None of us (at least none of us should be) are saying that we are Billy Badasses because we are here now. What I think y'all might be mistakingly calling us overzealous/delusional fans over is the fact that we have a pretty dang good football team that we are pretty dang proud of. We know our program is in its infancy, but our football team itself is very capable of competing in, and winning, in this conference. Hell, we have an outside shot at the conference title this very season! So in a nutshell, we aren't tooting our horns about the program necessarily... we are, however, sounding the sirens over our football team itself. Don't mistake one for the other.
  7. We never made this a point of contention. Ya'll were the ones that brought it up to somehow insult us... As it turns out, it looks like it was more of a self inflicted insult on your own program. No worries, we won't pour salt on it... friendly fire happens.
  8. Ok. You win. Sorry to bore you.
  9. I stand by that. Georgia may have superior athletes... but with that comes a sense of entitlement... and yes, taking plays off. If I had to guess, I'd bet that Georgia exerted the least amount of effort of any team you've faced all season... save for maybe those teams that gave up before the first snap.
  10. I read the last several posts, and I think what I'm hearing is that UNT claims to have a better overall program (due to alumni donations, stadium on campus, etc., etc.)... I tend to agree on those points. However, bear in mind that UTSA does have a brand new practice facility on campus, along with playing at what can still be considered an excellent venue at the Alamadome. All that is fine and dandy... UNT may have an edge in overall program quality (so far). My point is... who cares?? I mean really? woohoo, have a cookie and some fruit punch and smile over that edge. All I care about is who has the better team with the better day on the field on the 23rd. IF the discussion moves along from overall program quality to overall 2013 team quality.... well then I'd say hell yes. Hell yes these two teams are pretty dang close to each other.... and as I have predicted, those of you who think otherwise will be surprised and very displeased with what happens on the field on November 23rd. Win or lose (I personally think we'll win...in a very close, hard fought game), we will collectively extend our hand to thank UNT. Why? Well, let me try to explain. The UTSA team does not view anything it has been blessed with as an entitlement. We know we are very blessed to be in the position we are in. What we see in each game... scratch that, on each PLAY is an opportunity. An opportunity to show what the team has worked so hard for day in and day out throughout each year of its existence... An opportunity to be on the same field, play with, and beat teams that we grew up knowing about... An opportunity to prove to others, and to prove to ourselves, that we are not "too small, or too slow, or too whatever" to be a Division I football player. An opportunity to "shock the world" so to speak. The vast majority of our team would not have the opportunities presented to them had USTA football not existed, or had they chosen to compete for a position elsewhere (all our starters have started or had significant playing time since the day they walked into the first practice). On the 23rd, the opportunities will abound. All kinds of personal opportunities play in, and play out... and huge opportunities should the collective sum of the team effort yield a win. Life is all about opportunities, and this particular game is filled with them. You can bet that our boys will be chomping at the bit to "get theirs" on each an every opportunity that presents itself. We may win, or we may lose... but what you'll see on that field will assure you, UNT fan, that this team exerts more effort than any other opponent you've faced. Be that as it may, most of you will still hate on us (especially if we beat you)... but just maybe, a small percentage of you will see the fire this team has, and yes... maybe, we'll earn your respect.
  11. Red zone defense is not our strong suit! Lol
  12. Hot damn! You sure as hell are!! VERY nice! That's a great stat that I was not aware of. UTSA converts red zone opportunities 82% of the time... Not stellar, but very good.
  13. That goal line stand against the owls was quite impressive. Utsa is very good in the red zone too.
  14. The game is misleading. We were up on them, then gifted them a td just before half... Offense was out of sync for the 3rd quarter, then turned it back on in the 4th, but ran out of time. Statistically I think we are slightly better than Rice on offense (yards per game) and slightly worse on defense (yards per game again)... But our numbers are nearly identical. Don't quote me in this because I didn't check, just going off memory. If y'all played Rice 10 times this year, I'd bet Rice would win 5. I guess that tells you where I think we stand with y'all.
  15. We lost to Rice. That is a fact. However, I would not say that Rice is better. If we play that game 10 times, we win 5 or more. Of the teams you've played this season, I'd say we are most similar to the Rice squad in overall quality.
  16. You are dreaming if you think this game is anywhere near a 21 point UNT win.
  17. I'll also add that if we finish 7-5, and either La Tech or Tulane beats Rice (I'm thinking La Tech has a shot as they've been trending upward as of late) and UNT wins out (besides losing to us), we will be in the CUSA Championship game this year.... rematching Marshall or facing ECU for the first time.
  18. Yes, eligible to win conference championship this year... not technically fully bowl eligible until 2014 (however, there is an outside shot we can get a bowl game this year, most likely if we finish 7-5... against an ALL FBS schedule I might add).
  19. Technically, UTSA is still transitioning to become an FBS team (full FBS status in 2014). So, given that fact, UTSA has already beaten several FBS teams, and the one FBS team with a winning record (in beating Tulane)... all while not being a full-fledged FBS team itself. I'm sure you guys might not be capable of grasping this (judging by your constant display of immaturity), but this team hasn't even had its inaugural senior class yet. This team is mostly juniors with a few seniors, and a few underclassmen on the field. Chew on that for a bit.
  20. Based on total defense (yards per game) http://www.cfbstats.com/2013/leader/24312/team/defense/split01/category10/sort01.html 1 East Carolina 2 North Texas 3 Marshall 4 Florida Atlantic 5 Tulane 6 Rice 7 Louisiana Tech 8 UTSA 9 Tulsa 10 Florida International 11 Middle Tennessee 12 Southern Mississippi 13 UTEP 14 UAB
  21. Okay... I meant respect from rational people... like the football team and coaches, and normal adult UNT fans.
  22. Exactly. Right now we respect UNT, but you guys seemingly have ZERO respect for UTSA. We'll have to earn it, just like we've earned it every single step of the way (in our wins AND losses).
  23. Lol... Nice one... zing! I am somewhat concerned about your defense in reality. Marshall is ranked toward the top of CUSA defensively as is UNT. Marshall did keep us in check... although that game did come off what was a disappointing loss that should've been a milestone win. I think the team was down in the dumps, on top of traveling to a tough stadium... and also missing one of our main playmakers. Coming into the UNT game, the boys are on a high, and coming off the bye week, they'll be ready to roll. UNT should see the best of what UTSA has to offer.
  24. If I were the special teams coach on the UTSA squad, I would practice hard on nullifying your special teams. That would be via sideline punts, and out of the endzone kickoffs... and also on emphasizing blocking on our field goal attempts. It is very important to make sure the UNT special teams is nullified in this game.
  25. Ok... so I'm thinking you guys are pretty confident in your defense? I do agree that it is a great defense... no disagreement there. However, I do believe that our bye week is worth 7 points off a special play created just for this game (after reviewing all the film, and finding and/or designing a new play specifically attacking your weakness.. whatever it may be). That leaves me with predicting 3 traditional scores.... which I don't think is out of line. Maybe one of the 3 is a field goal instead of a td. I see 24 points or more for us in this game. It'll be on our defense to keep ya'll below that mark.
