ESPN3 C-USA 2016 schedule announced
Graham replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
I'd much rather see us with a comprehensive (meaning, like every game) schedule on ESPN3 than a random shotgun of network agreements. Just to "be on TV". I'd be willing to bet that ESPN3's ratings are way higher than BeIN Sports or Foosballing International 7 or wherever we'll be hanging out this season. -
This is great. Leaps and bounds ahead of the content we've seen over the last few years. Who's producing this stuff?

I'm with @Christopher Walker on this one. I appreciate the effort, but we've got to start putting more energy into our design. College football has become such a design-driven world. And sites like this are a real reminder of how far behind we are.

This will have higher attendance numbers than any game last season.

http://www.hudl.com/video/3/5210196/5721e60c0c5e681224be928a 6'3" 187lbs 2015 All-New York City Player Of The Year Plays WR too So I'm watching a local HS tournament last night and this kid was lighting it up. He's pretty raw but has some serious athletic talent. They're down by a TD with less than a minute left and Harris-Legree single handedly drives down the field to score with a few seconds left. Something he's apparently been doing all season. Then, like a sign from the heavens, the commentator says:

I think more than finding a color or a "look" we've gotta find our style/brand. Oregon's able to roll out a different uniform and color every week because they've honed in on the style for all their uni's -- modern, innovative, flashy, etc. Which is a perfect match for their brand of football. So, tah dah, it works. Same with Baylor. Same with TCU. Same with all the other "me too" schools out there. Penn St and Alabama, on the other hand, field a solid color uni with a single-striped helmet and no added razzle dazzle. Which lines up perfectly with the types of football programs they run, the playbooks they run, etc. Classic, no nonsense football. So what are we about? What's that uni supposed to say about the team and the program? Answer that, agree on it, and the uniform talk becomes a pretty easy one. Regardless, last year's uniforms should be donated to rag bin immediately.

For those flying to NYC, there's a ferry that leaves the Wall St piers (in Manhattan) and goes directly to West Point. It's super easy and a beautiful ride up the Hudson River (during fall foliage season). Football + nature stuff + not getting a DUI = ? They offer a bundle with game tickets included, or boat tickets only: http://seastreak.com/tour-and-event-cruises/west-point-football-game-day-cruise/

I like #NewDenton. It's a start, at least. And a great sign that this staff understands how people communicate on the Internets. That alone is a big departure

Conference USA reaches landmark deal with ESPN
Graham replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
This is great news. I'd much rather see us ink a deal with a streaming ESPN platform than a random cable sports network that only reaches a handful of people -
Nick Carparelli Jr. should absolutely get a look. He was the Head of Football for both the AAC and the Big East for 12 years. He was a scheduling genius and handled all the corporate sponsorship opportunities -- which is why he was hired by Undern Armour a couple years ago as Senior Director of College Sports. A guys with decades of experience in college football, in running entire conferences, and working on the sports marketing side? Yes please. http://www.si.com/college-football/2014/01/16/american-athletic-conference-loses-nick-carparelli-under-armour

Streaming sports is absolutely the future. The very, very near future. Fun fact: Disney's (owner of ESPN) contracts with most of the major cable providers are expiring in 2017. And these are contracts that are a decade old. I.e. before anyone thought that streaming would overtake regular ole TV watching. Which, well, it has. I would be shocked if ESPN, and pretty much every sports network, doesn't unshackle from cable-only deals next year and start offering all of its broadcast games online. Just like HBO Now, Hulu Plus (owned by NBC), etc. The sooner we can get a better foothold in the streaming world the better we'll be in the long run.

Wait, are you telling me that ESPN3 has been an option for us this entire time? Please, please do this.

Does anyone know if there will be a camera and/or the Internet at this afternoon's game?

Troy "Ice Pick" Reffett? Aka Coach Ice Pick.

We will be better for one, broad reason. Because we have a staff that's willing to adapt and change their system based on the talent they have, instead of force a system onto group of kids that aren't, well, Iowans.

Great great idea. And serious kudos for bringing some solutions to this board instead of the same ole problems ??

MGB: Per our Ryan writer, Tyreke Davis commits to UNT
Graham replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I love seeing us sign "slash" players. LB-slash-RB-slash-whatever. You know when a kid plays every position on his HS team that he's a true athlete, not just a cog in the machine. Good find and an awesome first step.
