DRC: breaking - Consultants report critical of UNT
SSP replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
WHY is this NOW a concern after all of these years? WHY... With as many boosters and people on this board with connections with the BOR... HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED? I don't get it. -
DRC: breaking - Consultants report critical of UNT
SSP replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Ok... Can someone help me? I've heard the majority of you complain about the AD for the last several years. I am close friends with multiple North Texas professors and a couple of long time family friends that hold high-level executive positions on campus. I am not alumni but I have four people in my family that have graduated at the University of North Texas and I have two children that could be potential student athletes or even just students at some future juncture. I see a lot in this report (And I have not read all of it ) that SCREAMS incompetency. HOW do you have this many hands in the fire and it not come up sooner? And where HAS all of the money gone????????????? -
Summer Sunshine Sunny UNT 2016 FB Prediction
SSP replied to MeanGreenMailbox aka TFLF's topic in Mean Green Football
We enjoyed this read. Thank you for your optimism and We completely agree with this: "The 2016 thing is simply this, as it always seems to be for us: this group has to commit to one another to play above themselves. There can't be non-starting players shirking workouts, disregarding the playbooks, avoiding the film room, then yelling at coaches about not starting. That type of sh*t has got be 139% absent from the 2016 locker room...especially at the Leader position, QB. If the locker room lacks leadership again in 2016 and is in disarray, disregard everything I've predicted and mark us down at 1-11 or 0-12. The players have new coaching leadership. It's time for the experienced players on this team to put up or shut up, and start setting an example for the underclassmen."- 30 replies

DRC Monday column: Best sign in win over Rice was UNT's grit
SSP replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Agreed, Harry. The biggest contributors to the fate of this team are going to be: - keeping key players free from injury - consistent grind in practices - momentum and team confidence is THE MOST VITAL and where I agree with Vito. ? *McCarney didn't believe in his guys and gave up on them. The team knew it. They were hungry to be coached and not just yelled at about how they screwed up all of the time. -@ChristopherRyanWilkes- 2013 was STACKED with a very special group of outspoken seniors that knew how to lead. That... Brings me to my next point. We have a very immature and young team. Leadership within our upperclassman will be undisputably one of the most important aspects of how this team progresses further (as it was in 2013). We have some playmakers and whether or not those Seniors step up and lead/ motivate will be do or die for the rest of this year. We didn't have this for the last two years because Mccarney and his staff killed that aspect ( I mean... come on. Carlos Harris was considered a team leader). Thank God for our coaching staff. They have the trust from our players. One of the most promising, honest and encouraging things that I've heard Littrell say is, “We talk about it all the time,” Littrell said. “Don’t blink. Great things are coming. Things are not always going to go your way. Keep grinding and eventually that adversity will flip and you will get momentum.” This is one of the basic principles that athletes are taught from a very young age and is often neglected by coaches as the playing field gets more competitive. THAT is very promising to hear for the future of this program. UNT showed that kind of intestinal fortitude during the 2013 season, when the Mean Green won another thrilling game against Rice. Yep. Intestinal fortitude, indeed. ----------------------- The GREAT news is this: We are a wild card right now. I don't think its safe for anyone to assume or suggest what this team is going to do or what they are capable of the rest of this year. We have some serious momentum and hope going into next week. Our players feel it. Some of those red shirt juniors and seniors saw this in 2013 and were reminded of how that felt last Saturday. They won't give that up easily. Saturday will be very telling. On 2013, I am reminded of us being a wildcard then as well. The majority of our Fanbase did not believe in that team AT ALL. Every week they would show up and drag us through a variety of emotions during 1-three hour game. Just when you thought a game was a loss, they'd outwork and out ST/ defense the other team to pull out a win. Only leadership and belief in a program can do that. That's what I saw last Saturday. It was the exact same feeling but with a coaching staff that has nothing to lose and everything to gain at this point. I have hope and that was a hell of a lot more than I could say after the first quarter on Saturday. I literally thought to myself... "Well, this is how it ends for our Senior. How sad. At least he had that 2013 season but HOW SAD." THIS SATURDAY IS HUGE. Double up on your meds, fans. -
To the producers and videographers of BEYOND THE GREEN
SSP replied to SSP's topic in Mean Green Football
He's my little brother. ? *Thank you very much. -
To the producers, videographers, etc of Beyond the Green: On behalf of #19 and our Schilleci family, we really want to thank you for the work that you put into this show. We have loved watching John play over the past four years but there has always been added excitement in watching your shows during the week. We never miss an episode. Student athletes often don't get to see their families a lot during the year. You probably see him a heckuva lot more than we do. We very much appreciate the glimpses that you have given us to see him in practices, games and locker rooms. Our father is disabled and unable to see these games and be a part of Johns experience. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to share those with him as well. You have made our North Texas football experience even more memorable and we look forward to watching the rest of his Senior year through "your eyes". ?

UNT's 2016 post-spring depth chart (with comments)
SSP replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Pretty sure it had more to do with his injuries that forced him to redshirt last year.... But what do I know.... -
UNT's 2016 post-spring depth chart (with comments)
SSP replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes. And probably not too smart to play DB with the injuries he suffered while at corner. And thank you. We share that hope. Very possible. The coaches actually like him this year. ? -
On this, we agree. My thoughts on our defense: We are going to get murdered again if we run a 3-3-5. I just don't have a lot of faith in the depth, size or speed of our line for this particular defense. They botch assignments then it falls on the linebackers then ultimately on our DBs who are stretched thin if our line can't do their jobs. That's where the blame falls always. The DBs. When it's not necessarily the LBs or DL but the Defense. We are setting up to fail. Safeties should never lead teams in tackles. That's our flaws- exposed.

UNT's 2016 post-spring depth chart (with comments)
SSP replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This stood out to me. I like it. That will more than likely change before fall. Agreed. This was our thought. Not a lot of faith in our big guys. I guess we will see. THIS!!!!!! AMEN. On Buyers- you really don't know what you're talking about. There's good reasons why he was moved. And.... He likes WR. ***The depth chart will see majorchangesbefore SMU. -
Seriously... hahaha i love how he won't mention who led the team in tackles too.... Playing against our 1st string..... We have big people in our family, Vito... And own a lot of property. ???????????? ????? ❤️, Your fave Mean green football fam GO MEAN GREEN!

Yep. Really bad. -
I've been told different?? Tulsa friends said it was in the paper that Meacham was the guy??? Dunno.

THE KEY WORD HERE IS : COACH. we are talking about a guy who has done this for the past two seasons. A guy who wouldn't work out with this team this past summer because he had his own "personal trainer". Carlos was being Carlos. This staff allowed and condoned his selfishness and behavior. That's who is as fault. You wanna know why we suck? Look no further than this kind of crap being overlooked but players who make one mistake on the field are benched for an entire season. The handling of players for the past year and a half has bred and fueled attitudes like this. When you lack faith in the players you recruit, have specialty/ position coaches tell you not to listen to your D Coordinator and head coach and "cut out their noise", and not everyone is graded on the same code or guidelines- and not everyone is graded on the same code or guidelines.....- GOTTA LOOK OUT FOR #1.... ME ME ME. No one else is going to look out for me. That's not fair. or I don't give a crap anymore. Screw this. ask Blake Bean. ask Jimmerson. ASK CARLOS HARRIS. THEY don't have anything to lose anymore. They'll tell you the truth now.
-
this is already happening. they probably feel like it's already been done to them by the staff. I've heard- "Just going to get my education paid for" muttered by several. I feel sorry for the juniors and seniors. The weight of this is solely on this staff. Very dissapointing but this started growing last year.... Had hoped it would get better.
