no NT Daily broke that it was a DUI

I've been thinking about McClain not shining to the same level as last year a lot. I think a lot of it is because Muhammad has been so stellar stopping the run. As far as in the run game, our linebackers, while not Orr level play-makers, play their role pretty disciplined. McClain had so many tackles because our run defense last year was awful and was always in the second level. McClain, is a sure tackler, but he hasn't gotten as many opportunities to make tackles/plays in the run game. As far as coverage, I think some of our coverage issues begin with the cushion we're giving teams. Even on third and short we're so scared to get beat deep we rarely press. Our corners play pretty cocky, a lot of chip and chatter, I don't think it's helpful when your too focused in on that and not on the situation awareness. I actually think contrary to a lot people on scheme, I think our worst downs are the ones when we only send three. Maybe when Bryce is back and we can shift Syd back to the edge we'll improve our three man rush, but until that point we need pressure. I think we were scared of the QBs feet which is why we opted for a spy-type set up. Keep bringing heat, put Jenkins in at least for a game to let brooks think about it. If we're sending heat we need good man coverage.

JuCo players vital to North Texas football
Caw Caw replied to Skipper's topic in Mean Green Football
Kansas State made a hell of a program investing in JuCo players. -
So let me get this straight, you've posted 1,500 + times, spent countless hours reading threads and participating in the discussion for something that's throwing away money. Is your time valueless then? Because you seem to invest plenty of time here for someone who doesn't want to invest in something... This is mind blowing to me.

DRC: UNT aims to rebound, snap slide vs. FBS teams at Iowa
Caw Caw replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I think what we're all really missing is Brett Vito's development at his position. We haven't heard one reference to 2013 HoD Bowl MVP and UNT-Legend-At-Quarterback-Who-Many-People-Didn't-Support-Until-His-Stellar-Senior-Campaign-And-Really-Was-One-Of-The-Most-Underappreciated-Talents-To-Play-Here Derek Thompson. Making real strides at starting write-out. -
I'll start with, I think you have some decent points. I'll follow that with saying, I think we had a young team play a bad game. Definitely some improvement to me at QB, WR. We've taken a step back at special teams and I think Darden needs to catch every punt from here on out. Line had a couple good series, and when Fine had time, he delivered. I don't think I've ever seen a UNT QB throw for 400+ yards win or loss in my time as a fan. Defense was really good against the run, but got tired because we aren't super deep yet. The game got out of hand, but I think SMU is a better team than we give them credit for. Their DE Lawler and Sutton will definitely play on Sundays, their center and that LSU transfer receiver might as well. This is the toughest stretch of the season, but I think the conference is wide open. No one has looked particularly good. Utep, Rice are still struggling. I'm interested to see the USM, UTSA game. Army looks beatable. I'm just not ready to fire sale the season, the staff or the team after a bad game.

A little confused how most people predicted between five and seven wins, we take one loss and no longer are going to win a game... lol

Game was on ESPN3. Accessible through watch ESPN, I watched it that way.

My buddy Kelvin made this for me, for sure the best version: https://streamable.com/jiwha

Never thought i'd actively wish for C-USA officiating crews...

Do we miss Keena yet?
-
Lawler is real good.

Either get home or stay back and play coverage.

Vada King reports 14 Tackles, 3 TFL Kameron Kings Team lost 7-41 @ Longview, "North Texas commit Anthony Johnson ran for 139 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries in a 52-47 loss Bean went 3-5 with 48 yards. Keelan Crosby's team defense held Callisberg to 6 points with 3 shutout quarters of football. 21-6 Aubrey lost 7-20

Yeah, that's definitely not the reason. We haven't had any real success at a level casual fans care about. Even at my time at North Texas our student body, who could walk to games didn't have any form form of school pride beyond the sports-loving or group involved kids. If you don't fix the culture of the fans, just like fixing the culture of the team they will see no reason to give effort or resource to the program. We may all bicker and nit pick at each other over everything here, but we are the base support group. We are the hardcore, with the occasional observer to the madness. And, when all of these people actually see each other in person, most of this keyboard-warrior crap gets cut and we enjoy each others company. Some people have their difference, but a pretentious and bristeling fan-base isn't exactly what's keeping our alumni base out.

Stand corrected, Ian McCaw is the now Liberty AD. This guy: "Earlier this month, Baylor released a statement claiming that McCaw and Briles were among several members of the athletic department who failed to act upon being informed in 2013 that a female student-athlete had reported being gang-raped by five football players. Baylor said that, in 2015, McCaw initially denied having had knowledge of the student-athlete’s allegations, but then he subsequently acknowledged that her coach had told him in 2013. The school claimed that McCaw said he thought the victim did not wish to report the rape."

There is no price tag on keeping this man out of the conference. Here is Falwell Jr's statement post 9/11 attack: "wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. "Throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools," he said. "The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. "[T]he pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America," Falwell continued, "I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'"

Someone posted like 6-10 Carter High Players there. Saw another picture of two kids on sideline... i'll follow up on this.

TJ Just Raw Strength in this one. This defense attacked the ball in carriers hands A LOT. Reminds me of 2013 Jeff just doing Jeff Things: Mike Law Ladies and Gentleman: I might find time to do more later... Off to work

We lightly recruited Darrell Colbert Jr, the Lamar QB, but never offered, perhaps because he committed to SMU. Also, Evan Johnson should be fun to watch.

I was telling my girlfriend's dad that I don't remember if I've seen our backup QB come in when it wasn't replacing a starter in my time as a UNT fan.
