UTSA's next head coach will be..............Frank Wilson (LSU)
correcamino replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, recruiting to UTSA is different than recruiting to LSU. Then again will Litrell have the same level of athletes at UNT that he had at UNC? Probably not but that doesn't stop y'all from getting excited. The other finalist was a DC at Ok St and GMG scoffed that potential hire. Chances are, even if Wilson had coordinator experience GMG would've found another way to scoff him. Don't understand the insecurity. -
DBs coach Brian Stewart interviewed for UTSA job
correcamino replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
GMG initially: "UTSA can't afford anyone worth a damn for $500k." GMG after it's reported that UTSA will spend $800k: "Oh well only position coaches and retreads are interested." GMG after Spencer is interviewed: "Oh well he isn't that good anyways." LOL we could hire Saban and yall would find a way to minimize it. Litrell was a good hire, I have no problem acknowledging that. Spencer would be a good hire for us too especially considering the circumstances. Not sure why yall find it so hard to acknowledge that. -
MGB: Could David Bailiff be a candidate at UTSA?
correcamino replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football

Luper emerges as a UTSA HC candidate
correcamino replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
That can be said for any coach that comes from a P5 school. For example: not difficult to have an explosive offense with the athletes at UNC. UNT not so much. Y'all wouldn't have been able to afford him as an OC and definitely not as a positions coach so the fact that y'all wanted him for either position is irrelevant. He was making $400k at Auburn and probably making around the same at TCU. -
Are you serious? Losing seasons 11 of the past 12 years, losing record against UTSA, coming off a 1 win season. You really shouldn't be looking down on anyone. Litrell is a good hire on paper but no coaching change is a guarantee especially at UNT. Even if he were to turn the program around it's not going to happen overnight.

Those are names that have "high interest" in the coaching vacancy. I don't think that feeling is reciprocated by Hickey. The timing sucks but I think it's better than wasting another year with a beaten down Coker. Also the salary should be pretty competitive for CUSA.

He has all the makings of a great coach. I think he would do well at UNT but I hope you guys pass on him for a bigger name. We want him at UTSA badly.
-
We do have a long term series with Texas State coming up, actually. We don't want UNT as a rival. Who would? SMU sure doesn't. All I'm saying is UNT clearly sees us as one, or at the very least has a really strong hatred for us. You can tell they really wanted that game and have reverted back to losing games by 30+ points since then.

UNT treated our game like their Super Bowl and played over their heads, obviously. Kinda sucks since UNT would've probably gone down as the worst FBS team of all-time otherwise. Worth it if it saves Ricky V's job though.

It feels turrible right now but I'll end up having the last laugh if it ends up being the difference in Ricky V keeping his job. Nah. Nobody here wants to be associated with a dumpster fire like UNT. Texas State provides the local rivalry, La Tech provides the conference rivalry. Maybe UNT can start a rivalry with Portland St.?

1. Ok, even if that were the case they met NFL standards initially, right? 2. You mean like Apogee? Kinda funny that no cup holders is supposed to be a strike for the Alamodome when Apogee is mostly bleachers. At the end of the day y'all are using a little $78 mill facility to try to put down a $300+ mill facility. It's hilarious. 3. I read articles and watch broadcasts? But by that same token did your UNT boy wonder poll people in order to come to the conclusion that everyone thinks the Alamodome is a "shithole"? The renovations are to try to get major events (aside from the Alamo Bowl) there. I guess you can say it isn't an elite facility any more like it was when it was hosting events like the Final Four but it's still far from a "shithole". 4. I'm talking aesthetically. The "wing" that looks more like an M looks dumb in my humble opinion. For everything else, it's like any other newer G5 stadium that's in that same price range. 5. This is what's hilarious about you guys and Apogee, your stadium is $78 mill but you'll measure it up against just about anybody else's even if it's a fraction of the price. It's delusional. You get what you pay for. I went to UH's for the season opener last season and obviously it's much nicer than Apogee (which I also went to in 2013). That's not a knock against Apogee they just spent more and received a better stadium. Not sure why that's such a difficult concept to understand. I've been to Texas State's as well and I'd say it's nicer too. No, you suck because you're UNT. Sucking is what you're historically good at. We're a young team full of freshman and sophomores. Most of which also had offers from UNT, we'll be fine. You have me on 1 post per day bro. How am I supposed to help you generate traffic by sprucing up the hatred that way? But to answer your question yes losing sucks. I haven't had years and years of losing football (and hopefully I never do) to numb me like UNT fans have.

Yeah, sure it was. You're just incompetent and always find a way to put your own foot in your mouth. When are you going to grow up and stop talking out of your @ss? ffs it's a stadium that was created with the intention of housing an NFL team. Sure that didn't pan out and it's no longer up to NFL standards, but it more than meets NCAAF standards. Media and visitors rarely say anything bad about it unless it's someone like you that's butthurt because UTSA owns their team. Some old Dallas guy was polite and over complimented your little $78 mill college stadium. Whoop tee do. What'd you expect him to say something negative about it? There's really nothing special or unique about it. Obviously all the P5s in Texas have nicer on-campus stadiums. UH's is newer and nicer. Texas State's is much nicer after the renovations they made. It's a toss-up between SMU's stadium and Apogee.
-
Oh yeah, they changed it from Fouts to Apogee in the 24 hrs since you posted that link. Claims he has never seen Apogee on a worst stadiums list, proceeds to post a link with Apogee at #8, 6 spots above the stadium he is trying to put down. The Alamodome has hosted events Apogee could only dream of hosting. Far from a black eye. Apogee might be a gem in the HS ranks, right up there with Allen High School's stadium, but in the college world there's absolutely nothing special about it.

lol wut We have the youngest team in all of FBS. This was a rebuilding year all along, even if last season had gone as planned. The young guys look like they have a good future they just need to get some hair on their balls first. If we are starting seasons 1-6 once all these underclassmen become upperclassmen...then I'll start getting worried about becoming another UNT. Until then I like our future. BTW regarding the Alamodome...I get that Apogee is UNT's and the Dome isn't UTSA's, but aside from that why in the world would y'all compare a little $78 mill facility to a $300+ mill one that is about to get $50 mill in renovations? Seems pretty dumb. Hey genius, click on that first link and take a look at #8.
-
lol no Not trying to rub salt on the wound of UNT fans but UTSA hasn't looked anywhere near as bad as UNT. UTEP was in a dogfight with Incarnate Word today so UNT might have a shot to win that game.

Bogie is awesome but a decent amount of the credit also needs to be given to the uptempo offense. The no huddle resulted in 95 plays and the coaches also gave Bogie the ability to adjust at the line depending on what looks he saw from the defense. Pretty similar to what he did at Carthage if I'm not mistaken. Not sure how well his talent and smarts would be utilized in the conservative, cookie cutter offense Mac like to employ though. I think the offensive philosophy at UNT is a bigger problem than the QBs themselves.
-
smh poor guy Keep living in your warped little world. Also lol at the idea that we seek validation from a program that has a winning season every decade or two. No thanks, if I ever need validation I'll seek it from someone else.
-
Yeah, picking some of the oldest buildings on campus and using them to form your opinion of the campus isn't childish. I'm sure I could find some some older buildings at UNT too if I ever wanted to act like a prissy 5 year old. There's been a bunch of buildings, dorms and athletic facilities that have gone up in just the last decade alone...try basing your opinion on those.
-
lol like you know anything about the facilities/buildings UTSA has Elitism from a university with mediocre academics and athletics is hilarious. You think a respectable program like La Tech wants to be associated with your mediocrity? Go over to the CUSA board and ask who they'd like to start a rivalry with you. Hint: it's not you.

This Year's Recruiting Class - Per Rating Services
correcamino replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
247 has a composite score of all recruiting services. That's the one I prefer. Offers is also key IMO...Ive seen three star players that only had one offer and two stars with multiple offers. http://247sports.com/Season/2015-Football/CompositeTeamRankings?Conference=C-USA -
I don't think either one of you could come off as bigger sore losers even if you tried. Relax, there weren't even any bowl/conference implications. It was a fun game, I was expecting a boring low scoring game.

QB play. We are pretty much in the same position you guys were with Williams/Greer a couple weeks ago. A RS senior has been starting and been horrible for the most part. We are all calling for the true freshman who has outplayed him in games where they both saw action. He was Rutherford's and Goree's QB at Carthage. Oklahoma State Blake Bogenschutz 8/14 82 5.9 0 1 23.8 Tucker Carter 7/15 51 3.4 0 0 10.8 New Mexico Blake Bogenschutz 10/16 169 10.6 0 1 -- Tucker Carter 4/8 60 7.5 0 1 -- Don't make things up. This completely blindsided us after the first two games of the season, so we are understandably disappointed but nobody is jumping ship. Has nothing to do with OOC scheduling either IMO.

MGB: UNT recruiting target series -- Diamon Cannon

UTSA isn't really paying Arizona to come to the Dome. Technically they are but that is off-set by what they paid us to go to Tucson in '13 and what they will pay for us to go back in '15. People are so opposed to 2 for 1s but they are better than 1 for nones imo. Not sure why other sports are being discussed but UTSA has very solid track and baseball programs.
