And the 2 weeks of UTSA Smack/Food talk continues
greenit replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Nope, not interested. No pressure for our guys. All upside. If they win, they are one game away from championship game. If the game is cancelled due to sharknado, they get ready for their bowl game.- 452 replies

I thought the numbers continue to adjust throughout the season based on your previous opponents. For example, just because ECU played USM earlier in the year, the value of their win against USM continues to go down as USM continues to lose. I would think we both earned the same amount of value for our wins (possibly even more since we beat them on the road). However, these are just assumptions, I don't have detailed understanding of the inner workings of the rating systems.

Probably a last minute touchdown from TCU last week against Iowa St from being ranked ahead of them. Win out and the DMN staff will be forced to see the err of their ways. Lots of old perceptions that we have to overcome.

From my seats, way down in front, it looked like it said CSS on the side of her mic.

They are correct, they should be shooting for a more realistic rival that is more representative of where their program is headed. I suggest Stephen F Austin, Lamar, MAYBE Sam Houston in a couple of years.- 452 replies

This is what makes me proud of my fellow Mean Greeners, they are willing to give to those less fortunate. Like those from utsa.- 452 replies

Somehow, I was able to understand that better than our offensive gameplan on Friday.

Be prepared for you offensive line and QB to return to San Antonio pregnant.

First part of your story was cool. I think we all know which one you were. Woof.

Not much of a bump according to Palm's projection. Up to #50, ECU at #48. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/rankings/bcs

DRC: UNT, fans shine in front of bowl official
greenit replied to ColoradoEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I definitely hope the team makes the Liberty bowl, not only because of location, but because it would mean that we played in and won the championship. However, if they go to the HOD bowl, I would expect that the team would travel and stay in Dallas just the same as any out of town team. Would not be quite the same as being in a remote city, but they would still get the bowl experience. If we are able to continue to gain bowl eligibility most years, I am excited about the prospects of likely seeing HOD, New Mexico, and NO bowls, with an occasional Independence bowl thrown in there. They each have a little something different to offer. -
and maybe a hat. and a pair of sunglasses. I am sure my kid would let him wear his eagle mask.

UTSA ....Can we get a crowd like UTEP or bigger?
greenit replied to trussbussdad's topic in Mean Green Football
My guess is 750-1000. They had most of 2 lower sections filled and when looking around the stadium for orange, maybe they would have completely filled two sections, which I think is roughly 1000 seats. Again, just a guess. Not as many as some were predicting, but easily the most visiting fans so far this season. -
UNT Prodigal Son Junior Miller (1310 The Ticket) Comes Home
greenit replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I really wish we could figure out a way to get the morning/afternoon drive shows on campus for weekday games when they occur. That would have been awesome to have them broadcasting from campus for the Rice game. Not sure what the cost is for a live remote, but guessing $3k-4k per show? -
Random question I have forgot to ask...why no noise makers?

UNT Prodigal Son Junior Miller (1310 The Ticket) Comes Home
greenit replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yep. Now is not the time to get high an mighty and try to exclude people for the 'club' just because they have not been here since the beginning. Not the way it works if you want to increase tshirt sales. Come one come all. There is PLENTY of room on the bandwagon. -
I still think Smith looked like it was a shoulder. The had to gingerly raise his arm over his head to get his pads off and they immediately iced his shoulder and tried to immobilize his arm. Purely based on the way he was flipped and came down head first, if he did not actually break something, I am fearful of some sort of rotator cuff/labrum issue. If so, those are not short term recoveries. I hope it is something else that a couple of weeks can heal. Smith has been one of our best receivers, if not the best. I suppose we will find out at Coach Mac's press conference.

Happen to notice that UNT outdrew the mighty Roadrunners yesterday. Shine wearing off?
-
Good point. Maybe I missed the backup WRs. Either way, Mac has been pretty consistent. DT has stayed into games well past what seems to be potential opportunities to pull him. Can't argue with Mac's success this year, so...carry on.

In the first half, Carlos Harris beat his defender on a go route a couple of times in the first half and DT verthrew him each time. There was a decent breeze behind DT on these passes and seemed to cause him to miss hitting Harris in stride. DT finally hooked up with Harris for a TD in the 2nd half. He had one 30-40 yard pass to Smith that was not a well thrown ball, but Smith adjusted and made what was originally ruled a catch, but was later overturned. DT also checked down once incomplete over the middle and Darnell Smith was WAO (wide ass open) in the end zone once. I felt like a lot (certainly not all) of his passes that were incomplete were 20+ yard variety so it wasn't the little dumpoffs. No sugar coating it though, it was not one of his better games.

And where were you sitting?
-
Based on the crowd that I saw today announced at 26k, I cannot imagine what it will look like with 5,000 more people. I was not at the Houston game, so that is the most I have ever seen in the stadium at a game I attended.
