For the record, A$M and TU can both go pound sand as far as I am concerned. Nothing would make be happier than if they both moved to D3. However, from the perspective of a Mean Green fan, A$M has passed TU by, for the moment at least and as long as A$M get to suck of the teet of the $EC, it may be a long while before TU ever recovers on the gridiron.

A&M has passed UT by as well as a couple of Ted in their own conference. UT and Dallas Cowboy fans need to face reality. Perception/support may not have been passed, but product on the field has unquestionably been passed by.

I would assume that in Benford's prior roles, he had experience running these sort of things. Installing a system/philosophy and managing a team? Not so much

Benford may turn out ok once he has 5 -10 years of head coaching experience to figure out what does and does not work. Division 2 and Division 3 are excellent places to gain this experience.

Unless you believe the coach is the cause that the current players are underachieving. Doubtful thing get markedly better if the coach is removed, but it sends a message that change is definitely going to occur. It might help keep some of the fan base/boosters on board.

I actually defended him early on because I felt like he deserved a chance to show what he could do before dog piling him. However, I have slowly been worn down with the realization that the situation is beyond repair. I am not smart enough to know if it is mostly due to players or coaching, but unfortunately Benford has not built up any credibility to earn the benefit of the doubt at this point so the coach has to pay the price. I just wish it was more evident that there was a specific gameplan in place. U wish there were a few plays they could go to when needed to get off a shot. As it is, it seems to be left to the individual players to create for themselves. This approach has likely resulted in our anemic assist numbers and low percentage shots. As I have said, I don't know enough, but I do know that something has to change.

If there were only someone related to the team with the responsibility to figure these things out. Oh we'll, I guess until there is it is up to us on the message board to figure it out.

He has had the opportunity to put in his system. You are seeing his solution during the game. It is not working and apparently he is out of other ideas. What other option is there. In order for you to be able to implement your ideas, you have to be the coach, which means he has to go to make room for you or someone else to implement those new ideas. Savvy?

Hey Benny: His success is dependent on 18-22 year olds to do what they are supposed to do, and it is his job to make sure they know what that is. It is his job to make sure they are prepared. He is failing miserably at his job. It is the path he has chosen. Good news is that he seems to be a very competent assistant, so he should recover. UNT basketball might not be so lucky, at least for a while.

Can't blame a guy for making moves where it is clear he is trying to move up the food chain with each step. UTA then UNLV then UNT. Clearly moving up each step. Thankfully, as the closet Mean Green fans from San Antone mentioned a few weeks back, GMG puts UNT in the same neighborhood as Harvard/MIT, so his options will be limited from here forward.

The funny thing is that TV networks use team's own fans as a barometer of interest. Until we start averaging at least 35k-40k per game in football, not much chance of going anywhere.
