Fritz' 2nd Year FBS Triple Option In The GoDaddy Bowl
greenit replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
A lot of people call it the power spread. It was the natural evolution of the spread/air raid. Canales tried to run it but didn't have the QB to pull it off. If Littrell can get the right QB in place I believe we have several pieces already here. The QB if even more important than normal in this scheme. Bus drivers need not apply because they won't work in this style. -
Regardless of whether or not Morris turns out to be an upgrade, he will give the perception of an upgrade at a very important time in recruiting. Anything that can create a buzz will help with recruiting and once a few kids commit then the coaches can build on the momentum and use it to build a solid class. Keep up the good work and can't wait to start hearing additional names.

Most of them publish their criteria and then normally have one category that is a little more subjective that would require things like watching film. Normally, in three or four measurable categories such as size, speed, strength, weight, etc... Each candidate is measured and ranked against his current peers and historical numbers. These numbers are gathered at various camps around the country by the major stating services. It really isn't that complicated. These numbers provide a basis from which to start. Many times these numbers represent potential rather than finished product, especially in the 3 star range. There will always be exceptions where players only rated two stars have lots of offers because they either did not test well or they have shown great ability during games and receive offers despite the below average camp numbers. It isn't that we can't find good/great players that are two stars or unrated, it is just that history shows the odds are stacked against them. I don't think I could stomach the troll threads if we played a home game somewhere other than Apogee.

Anyone notice how our 5 or 6 uber trolls are stuck in the past and keep posting the same thing over and over and over and over and over again? In order for this program and this board to move forward some tough decisions need to be made. Otherwise we will continue to be dragged down in the sewer by our past.

Fritz' 2nd Year FBS Triple Option In The GoDaddy Bowl
greenit replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Of course they can. That is why saying that Littrell only runs a chick and duck is so ill informed. He has shown that he likes to run the ball out of the spread formation. Many refer to this as the 'power spread' and seems to be the wrinkle that was added to the Air Raid style offenses to incorporate more running. Fritz's camp never showed any public interest in the job based on everything I saw. Not sure what else you are supposed to do if a guy isn't interested. -
Prior to this announcement it appeared Kyle Allen was going to transfer to OU. Do you think the Allen and Murray families will be exchanging gifts this Christmas?

Fritz' 2nd Year FBS Triple Option In The GoDaddy Bowl
greenit replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
People have pointed out that Fritz ran the spread while at Sam Houston and that he is not an option guy. So, essentially Fritz won at GS with players that he didn't recruit running an offense he doesn't run. Sounds like he got out just in time. Ultimate bus driver? -
7 Of The 10 Eleven-Man 2015 Texas State Champions...

You are wasting your time trying to explain how a throw to a back or WR behind the line of scrimmage is no different than a pitch. But hey, one is a pass happy offense while the other is smash mouth.- 63 replies

I swear, the 5 or 6 uber negative 'fans' on this board have poisoned the entire fan base. Hard to believe we are complaining that we are paying a HC roughly $800k per year. As a first time head coach in the first year of his contract, isn't this more than we paid McCarney? How is this not a step forward?
-
The key with mid term signees is that they can be designated for the current class or the prior class depending on the availability of spots in the prior class.
-
What fans like you don't get is that just because we aren't accepting a check doesn't mean that we can't get a P5 on our schedule. You brought up Houstan as an example. I don't see many paycheck games on their schedule.

So now you are accusing me of making stuff up because I don't agree with your stance? This seems to be the same thing that you berate people for in other threads. I don't think I have said that this officer deserves punishment or is 'guilty' of something. I am simply pissed off at the outcome of this event. While the shooting may have been justified, I am not looking for justified opportunities for campus police to discharge their weapons. If there were multiple cops on the scene and the suspect was wearing light clothing (t-shirt), it seems like those are the components that have been previously suggest as being needed in order to deploy non lethal tactics such as a taser. In this case, for whatever reason, that option does not appear to have been considered even though seemingly there were favorable components in place. I don't think anyone is claiming it is an easy job. On the job decisions that result in death deserve to be scrutinized without people losing their minds. The internet and social media have made it far easier for people's voices to be heard (we have seen this first hand regarding our sports team and administration as it relates to this board). The easy access to mass communication has caused many professions to come under increased scrutiny. There are many examples of where this has occurred. This is not a bad thing, but it has put a lot of people that are not used to having their decisions scrutinized on the defensive and they will have to adjust.

Graham Harrell Hired as OC (Official Release)
greenit replied to dmaxel's topic in Mean Green Football
Does anyone know how much of the fee that the inmates get to keep for writing the press releases? -
We will also have Daniel Kahn coming back from injury, and in the spring he seemed like he was going to be a very capable option in the slot. Seemed very disciplined route runner as well, which should help in this type of O.

'15 DE Joseph Ozougwu (Houston-Alief Taylor)
greenit replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
gray shirts are allowed to enroll as long as they are part time and they don't receive athletic financial aid. He was rated three stars but did not have other offers. This usually points to some kind of qualifying issues. Sounds like a solid athlete. Welcome aboard. -

phone and email are restricted. The rules have not caught up to Twitter. -
Bummer. Looks like he was just getting used to catching McNulty passes.

Littrell And The Mean Green Ink Three Players
greenit replied to MeanGreenDan's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
And for what it's worth, Ozougwe was rated 3 stars by 247 for the 2105 class. I don't think the recruiting sites will show Ozougwe in this class, but he will count against the ncaa cap number. -
With the rules, you would expect either 5/4 or 4/5 offense/defense assistants. With Littrell being essentially an offensive guy, I thought he might go with 5 defensive assistants and take one of the position roles himself.

So the kid didn't kill the other two people he was talking to when the officer arrived? He didn't make verbal threats to the officer? He didn't raise the weapon in a threatening manner? The officer exited his car with gun drawn instead of his taser? The kid was shot within 10 seconds from exiting the cruiser? I am not saying the kid wasn't acting irrationally. Sorry, but I expect better outcomes than this. This result seems no different than what would happen if ordinary citizens carrying a firearm rolled up on the scene. I expect more from trained experts. Otherwise, let's just spend that training budget on extra ammo.
