UNT Football Scholarship Spreadsheet
greenit replied to NorthTexan95's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
We are down to 85 players (scholly/walkon) on the current roster. It looks like they have been doing some house cleaning with players that will not be back in the Fall. There is a limit (although it seems more like a guideline) of 105 players on your roster, so some of this was needed in order to make room for the new scholarship/walkon players that will be joining soon. -
Good luck to Sampson. Would still like to see him in green one day.

Just for education, which part of it do you think is a licensing issue? The play on the state flag or the Ford Motorcars logo likeness? Given your prior background in this sort of stuff, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Well, we are the creative heartbeat of Texas.

UAB Football - $6mil pledged to reinstate football
greenit replied to Aldo's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope this results in them not only bringing back football but also getting approval for an on campus stadium and it blows up in UAT's face. Not likely, but hopefully. -
The Anus?

Since we evidently don't still have a full class, here's hoping for another late qualifier to emerge before August.

The Austin bowl is not a definite goner. They are still working out the details such as venue, sponsor, and TV (how the heck did they get approval?). There may still be a chance for CUSA.
-
The P5 have been enjoying the extra exposure for years. As long as a network is willing to fund a new bowl, I don't see the harm.

Truck nuts. Now there is a phrase that is under used in most conversations. Bravo!

What Houston did to Rice (pass them by) is exactly why SMU will fight to keep us out of any conference they are in.

It's Tech. When have they ever done much of a anything except score a lot of points, and play weak OOC schedules? -
Report: C-USA won't keep UAB without football
greenit replied to StealthEagle84's topic in Mean Green Football
Since it no longer applies to me, I suggest that we impose an athletic fee on all alumni that graduated in the last 20 years. There is no reason they should not pay since increased athletic success will increase the value of their degree. -

Since Dodge hired Chico to run his offense it's only fair that Mac hires Dodge. -

a few basketball, football tidbits on the financial end
greenit replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
SMU is throwing money at basketball and it has worked out so far. They also threw money at football, which resulted in 4 bowl games, and then Jones grew tired of dealing with SMU and appeared to basically quit trying. I believe someone on this board pointed out previously that either Brown's or Jones', or maybe both had their entire salary paid by boosters.- 15 replies

I guess we need to start scheduling our FCS games on the road. I wonder how much they would pay?

The Rangers did not save his job. The Angels are still on the hook for paying him $80 million over the next three years whether he played or not. Not sure how likely it is that he will still be playing 4 years from now when someone would have to give him a new contract. I remember when the Rangers first brought him in when he was at risk of washing out of baseball. He did not seem overly thankful at the time and was almost combative then. Just seems like his personality. He does not strike me as a particularly nice person, but because he has/had a skill that was rare, people tended to overlook the attitude.
