Is January 2nd, 2017 taken?
-
Sure. Here you go:

What makes you say that. I may have missed it, but I haven't seen any indication that we offered a scholarship. Maybe he just got tired of waiting. Maybe the whole Boise thing made him change his mind and want to get it over with.

Mason Fine QB Locust Grove OK - SIGNED LOI
greenit replied to TravisUNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Doesn't matter in the long run since Fine is coming and Burns isn't, but would be interesting to know how the coaches rated them. Moot point I suppose. Travis, have you heard if it is a scholarship or PWO? The announcement did not specifically say. -
He seems to have some speed. Still not sure exactly what he was going to be, WR, H-back, DB? He played QB in HS, but wasn't going to play that here. Certainly would have preferred he came to UNT, but there are other positions I think we have a greater need. Still sucks to lose him.

Mason Fine QB Locust Grove OK - SIGNED LOI

FWIW, Pirtle recently committed to Emporia State. So, it seemingly appeared that Harrell could have had Burns if he would have offered, and he chose Fine. Seem about right? -
...That's Hedley

Does he have D1 ability at receiver or DB if QB doesn't work out? -
Mason Fine QB Locust Grove OK - SIGNED LOI

Seems like a pretty smart kid. Overachiever, accurate, may be the type that could flourish in this type of system. Has ability to improvise. Looks to be a member of the Cherokee Nation. That would be a cool twist. I believe Sam Bradford was also part Cherokee. Seems like the type of player you could bring in and if he doesn't work out at QB, he has the potential speed to contribute at DB or wideout or special teams. Such a high character guy, it doesn't seem like a huge gamble in terms of a scholarship. I read where he actually finished with over 13,000 passing yards and 166 passing TDs. Kind of hard to luck your way into that. Evidently OSU thought enough to offer him PWO status. -

Isn't Dontavious (Dee) Baulkman from Georgia? It would explain the relationship that EK had with him since EK most recently came from Georgia.
-
Great. Now kooger queen has ruined UH as well. Might want to tell mom that your plans to move out might be a little delayed.

MGB: Dee Baulkman commits, talks about decision
greenit replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I have to assume that Ekeler was recruiting him previously and continued to stay with him after the transition to UNT. If he would have been offered by Georgia he would have magically been rated three stars, we offer and he remains with no stars. Same player. Welcome aboard Dontavious! -
FYI, the video can be watched from the All Access site on meangreensports.com.

Damnit!! We can't even complain without our complaint post having an error in it! Damn you internet. Damn you very much.

The coach is showing he want to win immediately. Not such a bad thing. I am confident in the end there will be a nice balance. We will soon see. -
MGB: Conley retained as director of high school relations
greenit replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
BUT, do you understand what our record is in the three major sports while Conley was here? Somebody get a banner. -
Get a room.

MGB: Conley retained as director of high school relations
greenit replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Are we burying the lead? Director of HS Relations. I don't recall us having a dedicated person for this role before. Is this a separate role from Director of Recruiting? Hopefully, this will address a real weak spot for us. -
Please remain quietly at your keyboard. There will be some nice men at your front door in a few minutes.

Last offseason I am pretty sure Jesus posted that he was a fan of the older unis. -
That would be funny if we actually had a beat reporter.

MGB late night hoops rewind: MTSU 86, UNT 64

Benny really seems to have no plan when it comes to the game. We saw this early on and numerous people have commented. I would describe his coaching style as the Constanza style, after George Costanza from Seinfeld. Walk around a lot, throw your arms up, sub people in and out, lots of activity. Look really busy and people will think you know what you are doing. I have seen many coaches subscribe to this approach so he is not alone. Benny got a taste of coaching. He seems to be a decent enough recruiter and knows how to play the recruiting game and put up with all the nonsense that comes with it, but he really needs to go back and work under a successful coach and watch how he runs the program and how he builds an identity in what he is trying to accomplish on offense/defense. Something just seems 'off' with what he is trying to do. Whatever it is, seems to be keeping his teams from having success.
