The novelty of watching your team get beat by teams that have a huge advantage over you eventually wears off. Fans not only want to see you play a recognized name, but they want to see you beat those teams. Eventually you are better off not frequently playing the big boys and instead playing slightly lesser known names and beating them. People want to be associated with a winner. Otherwise they become cynical and spend their time on message boards pointing out everything that is wrong in the world.

At this point I don't really care if the AD sells an extra 5,000 tickets to people that never attend a game, but it is unacceptable to have less than 8-10k in season ticket sales based on the number of alumni.

I posted the MGC numbers a few months back and based on MGC numbers, estimated season tickets at 4,500. Looks like that number was pretty much on the mark. Getting confirmation only makes it worse.

Let BYU keep their home game TV deals and then the conference gets to sell their away games and they get some portion of that. They make more money, get guaranteed conference opponents, and the league is able to get more for their TV deal by having 4 conference games to sell. I still don't think it would be enough.
