  1. Welp, looks like our secret is out.
  2. Not sure if the Periscope videos are still available since they expire pretty quickly, but here is the link to the UNT FB Twitter account. https://twitter.com/MeanGreenFB Not sure if the Periscope videos are still available since they expire pretty quickly, but here is the link to the UNT FB Twitter account. https://twitter.com/MeanGreenFB
  3. Like many, I appreciate the role the student leaders played in generating support from the general student population, but I think RV recognized that the student population had already shown that they were not receptive to the message coming from 'the man' to ask them to pass the resolution. By engaging/encouraging, or as some say 'doing nothing', the student leaders used their influence to persuade their fellow students to pass the resolution, and RV got what he wanted. Yes the student leaders played a key role in getting the vote passed. Once the vote was in, RV has pretty much taken the ball and ran with it. Yes, I would say that he has led the building of a new stadium. Sometimes from in the foreground, and sometimes from the background, as all managers/leaders do depending on the situation.
  4. Not that I am a huge fan, but RV has changed the shade of green, changed the logo, help lead the building of a new stadium, instituted tailgating, changed conferences, grew MGC membership 400%, grew season ticket holder membership by 400% (can't deny numbers were absolutely putrid when he started and now they are just slightly less putrid). While it isn't enough, it is quite a bit that has been accomplished in 14 years when compared to the 85 years prior.
  5. There is no reason we shouldn't expect to go 2-2 in OOC games. Who cares if 3 of them are on the road and 2 are against P5. We should split them and that should be the goal (split or better) each year. The rest is just our conference schedule, which half are at home. There is no reason to cry woe is me over the schedule. We have every chance to take care of business and win at least 6 games and be bowl eligible. If we don't, it is because we are a bad team, not because of the schedule. Last year we had about as easy of a schedule as you could ask for and we won 4 games. We were a bad team and specifically had very poor QB play. If we are not going to be any better than we were last year, it won't matter.
  6. Isn't Thompson at RT instead of RG?
  7. Even TCU has problems with attendance. You can't believe what you read with regards to reported attendance. Schools that have large season ticket bases are somewhat shielded because they reports some variation off of tickets sold + some fudge factor. If season ticket sales are high enough then it does not hurt too bad when people don't show up. The problem is not unique to UNT. It does not good to constantly belittle our own university and then complain that outsiders don't respect us. Here is a link to a Star Telegram story about TCU's awesome attendance not getting in line with their winning ways. http://sportsblogs.star-telegram.com/mac-engel/2014/08/how-tcus-players-see-the-attendance-issue.html
  8. Seems to me that the coaches took this very same approach last season. Once it became apparent that we had a train wreck at QB, the coaches decided they had to go with a Juco QB instead of offering a HS QB.
  9. Apologies for the repost, but this probably belongs in this thread instead of where I originally posted it: The 2012 recruiting season was a killer from a depth standpoint. However, I think the roster currently looks pretty solid with the Juco additions that were used to address some of those holes. With the exception of QB, I don't have a real problem with any other position. If McNulty or Smith step up this year and give us at least an average season, we can win 5-7 games. Last season, per ESPN FBS stats, the #75 (out of 123) QB in the major categories looked like this: Passing yards: 2305 Attempts: 330 Completions: 191 Completion Percentage: 58% Passing TDs: 15 Interceptions: 8 TD/Int Ratio: 1.875 QB Rating: 125.6 In our offense, I don't have any misconception that our QB will be some gunslinger, but they need to be efficient and be able to perform when needed. I feel that it is very fair to judge our QB performance against the #75 hypothetical QB numbers.

  11. It sounds like we are talking to Underwood and we are still in contact with Riddle from Florida. It does not sound like we have offered either. Next year we will have Smith and Greer as seniors, Shanbour and Cousins as juniors, Means as a sophomore, and Chumley as a redshirt Freshman (or possibly a sophomore). Based on that list, I could easily see the staff going after a Juco QB to insert in as a junior for the 2016 race, especially if Smith does not pan out. We may be holding off on extending an offer until Smith can be further evaluated. If he looks like he is the real deal, then a HS QB can be pursued. If Smith flops, then getting another Juco QB seems reasonable.
  12. Is it ever ok that we don't have interest in a kid? Parents of potential players are the worst source to rely on for info. They ALWAYS have an agenda.
  13. Could this be an attempt by the UNTHSC to swallow a poison pill to keep from being merged into the main campus, as we tried to do last year?
  14. Gotta pace yourself, with the extra bye week and all.
  15. Mac and Co are running a top level recruiting program, which cannot be said for several who came before him. The fact that they are running local camps, satellite camps, performing full evaluations even on fairly high level recruits is different than much of the stealth recruiting that came before. I believe he is putting UNT on the radar of many more athletes, coaches, and parents than every before. It has not paid off a lot so far, but he has had his surprises here and there. A few more years of doing things the right way, coupled with some success on the field, will do wonders. It would be fun to see the results of what it would be like if we were able to recruit the number of highly/higher rated athletes that UH and smoo typically recruit.
  16. Circle of life/UNT fandom
  17. Was DT able to get any of his WR's on this list? I don't think not! Way to go AM. Oh, and I guess you too Carlos.
  18. Mac really needs to end the road OOC drought at SMU this year.
  19. I agree with the thought that Chico is coaching for his job this year, not Mac. Maybe that is why Mac has 'supposedly' agreed to loosen his grip on the offensive reigns a little. We'll see.
  20. If D Smith can't win the job by 8/12, he might not be very good. Please be good DS.
  21. Go back and read RV's initial comments/ideas. He was as optimistic as most. He came from another mid major program who was used to getting things done. He clearly thought the same things could be done here. His tone slowly changed as he consistently ran into brick walls. Now he has just become complacent while he tries to ride out the string.
  22. Let's please not use ULM, the worst funded school in all of FBS as our measuring stick.
